twolff 04-01-2008, 09:02 AM Here's a thread that has info on the various Tomy sets and the track peices in each. We got a bit off topic, but that happens a lot :)

Check out this site for some great layout ideas with lists of the track peices needed for each one. I'm currently preparing to screw down what started as the Tuckaway 25 streched to a 4x8 table with most of the tighter curves eleminated:

jstudrawa 04-01-2008, 01:03 PM I bought the Super International 2 weeks ago and already added 10 - 15" straights, 2 Parma controllers and 4 - 15" curves. I think what you get in a set all told is awesome, namely 4 cars and a lot of track, but you WILL add on.
Prepare the budget for another $200 at least, sir.

Seriously consider a 4-lane setup. Even if you don't intend to race seriously, it's a blast with friends and family.

the most fun i have ever had playing with slot cars has been when several friends are over at my place or theirs and we are just thrashing around the track. every once in a while somethin gets broke, but it sure is fun
it just used to be me and the dog in the garage, but last year i was lucky enough to meet a great group of guys to race with, and i have been enjoying the hobby even more ever since
Bill Hall 04-01-2008, 02:40 PM Perhaps stating the obvious, but a four lane is just a two lane with borders all the way around! Run in lanes two and three and you can forego guardrails and turn borders while your in the developement stages.

krazcustoms 04-02-2008, 01:05 AM Hello and welcome. I tried to PM you, but you aren't set up to accept them. I have a Tomy Giant raceway that I would part with cheap (no cars).

Welcome to the boards  and to the "black hole"of slot cars . At least, that what I call it. Whatever budget you set DOUBLE IT or maybe even TRIPLE it. You will see so many things (cars, track, etc) that you want and the "black hole" will gladly suck up you money. When I got back into the hobby I started with a LifeLike track (don't reccomend it) and a few cars. Now I have the old Aurora lock and joiner track (lots of it) from my childhood and about 400 cars (not bragging and definately not complaining). So be prepared to catch the sickness and become a "Slot-a- holic" too :). "Hello my name is Jerry and i'm a slot-a-holic...........". So just relax and enjoy the ride and welcome to the world of slot cars. You're gonna have a blast. There are a great bunch of folks here with so much information on every aspect of slots. QUESTIONS??? just ask..someone will have the answer.

Is that section better than having both terminal tracks from the Super INt'l connected?
SuperFist 04-02-2008, 06:13 PM The Super International is 4 lane so it uses 2 power packs each one for 2 lanes.
With the dual power pack terminal each lane gets it's own power pack.
If you wanted to use those on a 4 lane set you would need 2 of them with 4 power packs.
Scafremon 04-02-2008, 06:28 PM Just to expand on what Superfist advised:
With the dual power pack terminal track, each lane gets it's own power pack. So you need (2) of those tracks, and (4) power packs.
Then, each lane get's individual power, so in theory, a deslot on one lane doesn't cause a surge of power on another. I say 'in theory', only because when I was running 4 power packs (each lane on it's own), and had each power pack plugged into a common power-strip, it sure seemed like I would still get surges.
Still, I think it is a better setup then sharing a couple lanes with a single power pack, where there is no doubt that you will get surges.
Having said all that, if you go an buy a couple of those terminal tracks, and a couple more wall warts, you are about halfway (cost wise) to getting yourself a regulated power supply, which solves the surge issue, and allows voltage adjustment. Just something to keep in mind.

I apologize, I meant on a 2-lane setup. Both wall warts plug into the dual power pack terminal, so that works, correct?
joegri 04-03-2008, 08:33 AM hey aii revisited this thread now I feel dumb cuz I dont know how to add email address or contact info but I will figure it out as for the offer from kraz customs yes I am interested since the possibility of each lane having its own power is cool and saving money to buy extra track better controlers and such gonna check back later gotta go to work
