In a blatant bump just to gets some more views on this thread....

After one month of being open we had a sweet turnout this past Wednesday night for a club race of 23 racers with half of them novice sportsman racers which is great growth for the hobby!

Here are the race results....really good to see a great electric turnout being the beginning of nitro season.

Winter Slash Bash presented by RC Driver Magazine...

One lucky participant is going to get a brand new Traxxas Slash!

Parma is donating some of their Slash bodies for door prizes!

Castle Creations has also shipped some goodies.

MaxAmps is sending battery packs to give away!

Slash Bash 09
Host: RCHR
Sponsors: RC Driver Magazine, Traxxas, Castle Creations, MaxAmps.
Date/ Time: March 29th.
2 classes: Spec Slash and Open SC.

Rules
Spec- Slash must remain stock and you can only use tuning parts included in the kit such as preload spacers and pinion. You can swap out the radio and receiver. Batteries were originally going to be 6-cell matched and a 20C Lipo, but it sounds like most racers want to run a 30C so we may have to tweak this rule depending on what everyone wants to run once we are all there at the race. Custom painted bodies are allowed.

Open SC- Any mods to your Slash is acceptable, open motor, open battery. Must use SC type tires and SC body any brands. If someone somehow has an SC10, it would run in this class only.

Last Rule- Have fun!

I set up a wireless internet router so you guys can use laptops in the pits, see me at the track for setup information.

Also I set up a computer trackside with the latest Tekin and Castlelink software for speed control tuning. Handy for looking up speed control manuals on the internet too.

Next I'm working on a Tv, Vcr, Dvd setup to keep the kiddies distracted.

Mark.

MAY 29TH (FRIDAY) I WILL HOLD A 1/10TH 2WD NITRO TRUCK TEST RACE INDOORS.

RC10GT's, XXX-NT's - 1/10th only, no 4wd's, no 1/8th scales, no CRT.5's (yet), no monster truck (T-maxx/Revo).

We have been testing a few trucks on the track and it hasn't been that bad, so I want to give it a try. We might not even get enough guys to run an actual race, so it may just be a nitro practice night.

In RCHR news...

On Saturday a reporter from the Waterbury Republican newspaper will be stopping by around 3pm to do an article on our business, so hoping to get some good turn out to look good for the paper.

Weather.com says rain till Friday, all the more reason to come race indoors.

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend, especially the enlisted and veterans.

Here is a nice article our local newspaper the Republican-American in Waterbury, CT did for our hobbyshop and track. It covered the entire first page of the business section with 4 color photos and even had a 5 b&w picture on page two continuing the article. Thanks to the writer Marc Silvestrini and the photographer Jim Shannon.

Other tracks and hobbyshops should see if their local paper does the same for local business...

No, Mark did a survey and everyone decided not to have the dirt oval here anymore. We got rid of that about 6 months ago.

Saturday is a trophy race though - a team tournament more specifically. Ask Mark for details

Hey guy's, just raced down there for the first time yesterday and had a blast! I found out about your track on Friday night from Jed Cone and had to check it out. Fun layout, nice flow and a nice back rhythm section. I look foreword to coming back! Especially when it's rainy out and there's no racing at my local track. Also, I really appreciated the longer heats and mains. And the way the races were run were nice and quick, no messing around between heats making sure EVERYONE who was in the previous race went out to marshal.

We are currently building an outdoor track for racing in the sunshine!

We are on a good time schedule to be ready for our next trophy race, April 17th. We will run all our standard 1/10th electric off-road classes and some racers have mentioned about bringing out their 1/10th nitro trucks too!

So look forward to some great outdoor racing at RCHR this Spring/Summer/Fall!

The best part is when it threatens rain we will just race inside!

Hey everyone! Just getting the starting details of the 2010 Vintage Offroad Nationals posted for now so everyone can get some more time this year to plan ahead. The race will Sept 16-19th, that's right RCHR is opening its doors a day early to let everyone get some extra track time and leave a day open in the schedule for a few ideas I'm working on too! I couldn't be happier to see the race come back for it's third year and am honored to once again have it at RCHR! The facility is the best around for vintage racing and the owners are second to none! Here's a few quick notes for you guys until I get more solid details posted

Airports: Bradley International Airport in Hartford, CT is the nearest to the track. If your airline doesn't fly into there, look into any of the greater New York City airports as well as Westchester Airport. NYC is only an hour and a half from the track and Westchester is less than an hour.

Hotels: The best hotel for the race is the Holiday Inn Express in Waterbury. I'm currently working on a discounted rate for the race attendees so stay tuned.

Getting your stuff to the race: Unlike a lot of races I try to make the VO Nats as personal of an experience as possible. While I can't speak for the track owners, I'm sure shipping your stuff to the track wouldn't be a problem, please just call and speak with them. My bigger purpose in this note is to offer myself. If you would like to ship your stuff to my house, I'll be more than happy to bring it all up to the track for you and even drop it off at the PO of UPS the following monday. A third option is bringing it with you on the plane (if you're flying). I would suggest a metal footlocker , lockable hard plastic tubs or a hard case like those used for transporting musical equipment. You can find tour cases for musical equipment at any good sized music store or on the internet. I would suggest packing everything as tightly as possible and filling any empty space with towels to provide some cushioning. I also have a case if someone would like to borrow it. Just send me a ups label and I'll send it to you.

Visit http://www.rchr.biz for track info and pictures. Hope to see you all in September for a great weekend of racing, fun and gorgeous New England fall weather!
