View Full Version : ONE car 'cause of some lowlife...
Ricky2400 03-31-2008, 06:24 PM Well...I was in a TRU today and saw the GL 2-car set. I noticed one set had the Go-Mango Orange '71 Dodge R/T, but someone had taken a knife and cut open the pak, took out the 2nd car (whatever it was). So, I wasn't gonna pay a 2-car price for 1 car, right?
Took it to the register, reported the pilferage. I like the R/T, so instead of $7.99, I ended up paying $3 bucks. Not bad!
Just bothers me how some could stoop so low for ONE car!

Too funny....
70XR7 04-01-2008, 04:17 PM I unfortunately see it all the time. I have kids steal Hot Wheels, adults steal $0.99 screws - up to one jerk grabbed over $700 of RC stuff and ran out into a waiting car the other day.
Cops unfortunately can't do much. I caught one guy on tape, have a recording of my security camera, still pictures, his name/address/phone number - and 5 months later they still haven't done anything. I get letters once a month or so saying they are still working on it.
Sometimes I really hate people.
rattlehed 04-01-2008, 06:26 PM Have recently seen:
Open mystery cars= cheapskate
GL 5 pack w/one 70 Camaro removed(probably a GM)and replaced w/a HW
1/24 JL Torino Cobra(probably a WL) w/Charger Jada in box
The 2 switcharoos were 1 block apart at 2 diff stores. The same person is probably responsible. This was in Clinton, MD. If you live in the area watch out for this guy he's obviously a real piece of work(and feel free to give him a free beat-down for me). People like this make us all look bad.

Cops are the worst to call in this situation, with all the info you have on him.......i know i would be making a house call:thumbsup:
greenvice68 04-01-2008, 09:18 PM I seen the same thing happen by me at a TRU. Johnny Lightning 10 pack with two matchbox cars stuffed inside. All of the mystery hot wheels ripped open. No funny stuff with the GMs , just can't find any. This is why collectors have to get ripped on e-pay because of all these " inside jobs ".
rattlehed 04-03-2008, 07:39 PM :(I would say that most of the afformentioned instances are cheapskate customers. The 2 pack minus 1 is straight up theft. The 10 packs and 5 packs were probably purchased, taken home, cars switched out and returned to store. My thoughts are if you can't afford it don't buy it. But some people didn't raise their kids right and now those kids are a menace to society. A low down dirty thief is a low down dirty thief, plain and simple.
edseldave 04-04-2008, 01:48 AM The other car from that 2 car set was a 07 Charger . Lime green if not a green machine . Some dummy may have thought it was a green machine . There is at least 1 on ebay now saying a regular green 07 Charger is a G.M... My local TRU had most of the G.L. hobby series cars cut through the blister & the accessories taken .. I see the HW mystery cars open all the time too ..
greenvice68 04-05-2008, 02:48 PM It would be funny if they could put a tamper proof package with a dye packet in it. Kind a like the banks use. Just to see one of these thiefs running out TRU with a bright yellow face and hands would be priceless!! Far fetched but funny.
Acererak 04-06-2008, 12:11 PM I can add a pair of switcheroo's to this list. Just over a week ago I stopped by a recently opened Target to see what they had. Saw some new UH's on the pegs. I bought the only original ca r that was in the three packages there. It was the black/silver 56 Ford F-100 Pick Up. The other 2 packages one was for another 56 Ford Pick Up and the Other was for the Flashsider. Instead of those trucks being inside the packages, I found the following. In the 56 Ford package, it had a stripped HW's 56 Ford Panel that someone was going to customize and didn't finish. The Flashsider package had another custom job 56 Ford Panel made by Matchbox with HW's pr5 wheels on it. I let the nice lady in toys know that those were literally the wrong cars in each package. She took them back in the back, and reported it to her boss.
moparmarc 04-08-2008, 07:17 PM That is sad, Most of the People doing it are prob saddly in the hobby some way, Prob just in it for a profit. Not much heart in it when they do something like that. I dont get to hit the stores much anymore. But when I do I see the same thing, not with any GL's yet, moslty HW.
They could at least Dip the Hotwheels in all green paint when they put them back in the GL packages, or put HW sucks/GL Rulz stickers on the cars. lol
fuddmiester 04-08-2008, 07:30 PM I just found the Chevy 5 pak at a KMart with ALL Johnnies!! Only 3 guys I know that would try that one!!
