SEASON CANCELLED - Please see April 14 post below
===========================================
Hey all,

Here is latest update on a new track in Saginaw, Michigan. There was a track here last year but it never really took off. I am going to give it another go.

I will be working on track layout this week and hopefully have something by end of week. Thanks John for your ideas here ! I am looking to reduce track size to 150 x 75. Also, I plan on something not too technical, but challenging and fun for everyone. Nitro and electric friendly.

All classes will be welcome. Everybody will run - classes will be mixed if necessary so that all have opoortunity to race no matter what they bring.

I have received commitment from George at Bandit Paintball and Hobbies that he will provide a person that works for him and who will be responsible for RC track (help with track maintenance, help in keeping area clean, running the races but will not be a driver). George also committed to track maintenance equipment, and water pump.

I will be getting about 200 yds clay, and will lay 6" on top of track once built. Layout will insure good marshalling positions, and all marshalling spots will be leveled out. For now, pit lane will not be elevated.

Improvements to drivers stand will be completed.

John (from Clio) and George are looking to run alternate weeks - this will allow them to share transponder system.

I am hoping that this facility is something that you come to and enjoy.

Track is located at 6285 Bay Road, Saginaw, MI 48604. 989 249 4346
Behind Hickey's Blackmetal Choppers.

I will let you know when track build gets scheduled.

Hey all,

Track layout 95% completed. If weather cooperates we will be pulling tubes and leveling existing track Friday April 11. Track build to follow - I will let you all know when (Shooting for next 2 weeks) - could really use the help.

Looking to get 200 yds of clay delivered.

Track layout is friendly to all scales of vehicles. 1/5 scale, 1/8 scale electric and nitro, 1/10 scale electric and nitro, 1/16 scale, 1/18 scale. Can be run backwards too. We have a good plan in mind for water drainage and pit space too.

If you are new to the hobby and looking for a place to run, don't worry. We run a laid back program. The main goal is to HAVE FUN. Also, there are always plenty of people to help you out.

More to come.

Mike

** UPDATE **

We will begin track build on Saturday, April 19 at 8 am, and also work on Sunday starting at 8 am. If it rains Saturday, we will still meet on Sunday. If you want to join us, please bring rake, shovel, hammer, wheelbarrow, or whatever else you feel we may need.

First race is going to be May 10. Gates open at 9 am. Racing starts at 11 am. Classes dependent on who shows up. Everyone is welcome and will be able to race - we will mix classes if necessary. If novices show up, we will run a novice class. For novice class, it doesn't matter what vehicle or motor or battery you are running.

Five minute heat races, 7 minute electric mains, and 10 minute gas/nitro mains.

1/10 electric stock truck and buggy will either be 27 turn brushed or 17.5 turn brushless. Li-po batteries allowed in any class.

We are looking at running every other weekend. Track will be open for practice during normal business hours. Track will be closed for practice on the Friday before a race.

Hope to see you there !

Hey all,

Looking for anyone who has an old computer (desktop or laptop) and a PA system. Trying to save George (owner) some cost to get this track going.

Let me know - thanks !

All,

It is with much regret that I inform you there will be no track build or racing at Bandit Raceway this summer. In talking with George (owner) this morning, he has decided that the risk to his business is too high if he makes the investment required on his end. I was ready to commit a significant investment myself (not asking for any of it back), but I can't afford it all. George is going through some tough financial times with his business these days, and I understand that.

If you get a chance, stop by Bandit Paintball and Hobbies and throw some business his way. This will help insure the success of one of our local hobby shops.

This weekend's track build has been cancelled. All race dates have been cancelled.

Feel free to contact George at 989 249 4346 if you want to run some practice laps on the current track.

Thank you all for the support you have given thus far.

Sincerely,

Mike
