Are u getting any blue smoke out of the exhaust? Sounds like you are running way to lean. What's the head temp?
A Good replacement motor is the O.S. 18tm. It is a direct drop in replacement motor and better the the 2.5.
Hope this helps'

I just watched the video and it's hard to tell but I didn't see any smoke. Try turning your high speed needle all the way closed(clockwise). Then turn the needle (Counterclockwise) 4 1/2 turns out or open. The high speed needle is the large one on the top of the carb with the fuel tubing going into the side.

The 3.3 is a size .20 engine so the dispalcement is larger. I owned 2 3.3's and they were junk. But the 3.3 also is the motor used in the Revo 3.3 that hase won the last 3 monter truck nationals. In my opinion the O.S. is a better powerplant and is just as powerful as the 3.3.

I agree the truck sounds too lean. I would also say get the os .18tm for the tmaxx because it does have about the same amount of power and I think has much better reliabilty though I am not sure just what I have read about the motors. Or If you want crazy amounts of power look into the RB 323 or 523 engines. They are also direct drop ins and have even more power and great reliability, though I think if you are new I would learn how to drive with the OS engine.

Slurp, I have all three brand new engines 3.3 , I have a O.S. 18 tm and I have a RB 323, all of them are brand new never fired!! Take your pick!! Get rid of the 2.5, I had nothing but trouble out of mine.

yep WAY too lean. The 2.5's are good motors as long as you break them in right.Your low end needle sounds about right, but the high end is too lean.Turn the engine over slowly by hand and listen to see if there is a hissinng noise like air is getting by the piston under compression. if there is that means the piston and sleave have wore from running the high end needle too lean.I noticed your idle was set a little too high, if you have to have it that high to stay running that is another good sign of compression loss.also does it stall alot after its at temp?or not want to restart until it cools? both signs of a wore piston and sleeve from running the high end needle too lean.

One thing to remember is when you go through the break in on a motor to get it up to temp. I have seen people go through the break in( x-number of tanks) but never really get the engine up to operating temp. When done this way things dont seat in properly, then when you go to lean it out to really run it you actually still end up damaging the piston and sleave.I always lean out just a tad during tanks 2-3 of break in just to make sure I get into the right temp range for operation.mainly on the low end so it will idle ok and make midrange power to stay away from higher rpms during break in.

Save your self a headach and some money and dont even look into a 3.3 they are Junk motors, Go either Os, RB, or Picco.

ilde so to high and high speed needle is to lean. here are the factroy settings for your carb. high-speed needle is 4 turns out (counter-clockwise) from closed, The low-speed needle is threaded into the slide valve and is set flush (even) with the edge of the slide valve, slide valve to stop at idle is a 0.7mm-1.0mm gap.

I have the O.S. Max 18CV-RX and i love it bought it for $120 from a near by hobby shop. and love it. replaced the .15 on my t-maxx. I would recomend it to anyone. my t-maxx is full aluminium chassis steel cvd shafts and still verry fast. the only thing that you have to do with that engine is trim the shaft down to bolt the clutch plate on.

hey man one thing that no one said either is i noticed in the video that you were running in the snow....probably not now but you're not supposed to run these things when the temp is under 40 degrees.....also everyone else is absolutey correct. it is way too lean although i would turn it all the way in and bring it out 3 1/2 turns....i have both the 2.5 and 3.3 and they both run great at 3 1/2 out

I was glad to hear that someone has a good 3.3 engine. I bought a 4908 3.3 when they first came out and after the break in my 3.3 got better and better with every tank. When I sold it after 3 gallons of fuel it ran great. They are finicky tho. But then when Losi came out with the XXL, I knew I had to have one. I may buy another 3.3 in 2010 because I miss the 3 I had. The larger displacement the engine has the easier it is to tune. If a person can tune a .15, .18 or a .20 engine, then you can tune pretty much any R/C engine. I prefer Big Blocks myself.
I try to keep my R/C trucks and cars indoors during the winter.
Getting ready for a soccer game today so sorry I wasn't as specific.
