View Full Version : 1/5 1/6 1/4 Off Road Racing Track
BUTCH RATELL 03-27-2008, 10:14 AM I Am Opening A Off Road Track For Large Scale Racing Trucks And Buggies.
1000 To 1500 Foot Run Line. 400 Foot Front Straight.
Sizes From 1/8 Scale To 1/4 Scale.
Going To Be Wide Lanes And Smooth Jumps And Wide Turns Some Will Be Banked. I Am Hoping This Will Be The Grand Daddy Of Tracks.
Also Making A Oval Race Track Like 500 Foot Run Line.
Will Have A Bar With Food.
Come On Summer Time. I Am Ready To Go To Work On The Tracks.
If You See This Thread, Keep In Touch I Will Put Up Some Pics As I Go Along.
badassrevo 03-27-2008, 10:15 AM Where?
BUTCH RATELL 03-27-2008, 10:20 AM Opps Forgot The Where.
Warren, Ohio
I Have 20 To 30 Racers Waiting For It To Be Complete And More Guys Are Buying B5 Buggies Every Day.
Will Run Mostly The B5 In The Big Classes. But I Am Building 1/4 Scale Off Road Truck. When I Get It Complete I Will Put Up Pictures Of It. I Can Wait Till I Get The Truck Complete. Going To Have A 290 Zanoah Motor.
BUTCH RATELL 03-27-2008, 10:21 AM Chardon Your Just Up The Road A Ways. Only 30 Minutes From Me.
BUTCH RATELL 03-27-2008, 10:31 AM I Want To Get Fg Trucks And Buggies And Hpi B5 Type Buggies, There Are Alot Of 1/8 Guys Out There Also Nitro. I Will Be Running Them Also.
Can Run The 1/10 Also But They Will Be Really Small For This Track. Not Going To Be Really Smooth, Large Scale Does Not Need To Be Really Smooth.
Will Run The Races Every Other Week. But The Track Will Be Open For Practice All Week Long.
It Should Be Alot Of Fun. I Have 50 Plus People Waiting For It To Be Complete Just In Warren.
I Do Not Know What The Gas Prices Will Do To The People That Live A Distance. I Guess If You Want To Race You Will Drive The Distance.
I Race 1/4 Scale On Road And I Drive 60 Miles To Do That.
All I Know Is There Are No Big Tracks For Big Rc Cars. I Have The Land It Is On A Golf Course. So The Club House And Bar Is Right There.
Not Going To Put Alot Of Money Into It Untill I Find Out How Many Racers I Will Get And If They Can Afford To Race.
It Will Be 10.00 To Practice All Day.
To Race It Will Be 20.00 For First Class And 7.50 If You Want To Run Other Cars, 27.50 To Run As Many Classes As You Want.
So Tell Your Buddies. We Are Going To Have Some Fun This Summer.
Do you have a scoring system?
BUTCH RATELL 03-28-2008, 09:08 AM yes we have a amb system. looking for another one also. what to run 2 classes at one time. just like the big off road races.
looks like the weather is getting better next week. as soon as the ground firms up i can start to get it ready.
shine up those off roaders.
buy a 1/5th scale they are a blast. gas and go. B5 will be the big 1/5th scale.
Torinogt1971 03-28-2008, 09:20 AM Where at in Warren is this track?
BUTCH RATELL 03-28-2008, 09:31 AM longview golf course. st rt 305 between route 45 and mesquito lake about 6 miles from rt 5 warren bypass.
the track off road will be in front the oval will be in the back. the off road is high and dry should drain well even if it rains.
have a mobile sprayer to keep dust down this summer.
the more racers i get the better i will make it. i have a big trailor will start with that. if we get enough racers i will build a nice drivers stand.
i have been wanting to do this for some time. there are no really big race tracks for large scale anything.
i love 1/5 they are so awsome. once you see the big guys run every one will want one. they are a little pricey but once you have it they are pretty tough. just gas and go.
tell you buddies we will have a blast this summer. plus we will have the monster truck i sponsor come over this summer. we will have bands playing at the club house.
keep in touch.
Kid Kahuna 03-28-2008, 12:04 PM Sounds Great!! Let's go racing!!!
Kid
dvdlee 03-28-2008, 03:59 PM will you be in front of the driving range at longveiwg.c. i have had lessons there be fore
BUTCH RATELL 04-11-2008, 06:42 AM the off road will be in front! i was out the other day to see what the track would run like. i can make it pretty big. need to make sure you can see all of the track. i have some paint coming so i can layout the track design. then i just need to put down some roundup to kill the grass where the track will be, once the grass is dead i have a box scaper to form the track and put in some bumps and jumps. you can bring out the biggest badest cars and trucks you want. it will handle any size and speed. the b5 i have was screaming around the track. getem ready i should have it ready by june 1st is what i plan on.
i am trying to plan the drivers stands and the race directors position so i can run other tracks in the future.
longview is a 9 hole 3400 yard golf course and the rocking ( hole in 1 bar ) food is coming there also.
i will be making a oval track in the back 40 for dirt oval racing up to 1/4 scale sprints. that track will take some time to complete i have to put in drains make sure the track surface is nice and flat and put up the drivers stand.

BUTCH RATELL 04-22-2008, 10:31 PM got the amb system. heading to work on the monster track.
i have 50 acres of fun. 1/5 th size cars are the best buy it and race it.
gas and go.
1/5 is the class for every one. no more spending money on engine parts.
gas and go.
keep look out it will be here.
the best the bigest race track for off road.
woooooooooooo hoooooooooooooooo
BUTCH RATELL 04-25-2008, 09:17 AM got a amb lap counter. now heading to the track to complete the layout then the drivers stand.
wannafbody 04-25-2008, 09:31 AM How far from Rt 51/PA line are you guys?
BUTCH RATELL 05-01-2008, 10:02 PM I Am 15 Miles From Sharon Pa. We Are 45 Min From Route 19 Off Of Route 80.
We Are 1 Hour From Greenville Pa.
I Can Not Remember Route 51. We Had A Camp In Tienesta Pa Thats 2 + Hours Away.
We Are 20 Miles From Pa Border West 9 Miles From Route 11 Off Of St Rt 305.
I Just Spend 1100.00 On Fuel For The Bull Dozer The Make The Track.
Man Is It Costing Losts Of Money These Days To Do Any Thing. But I Will Get Er Done Very Soon.
BUTCH RATELL 05-28-2008, 06:53 AM I Know You Guys Are Waiting For The Big Track.
Ok Here We Go Finally Drying Out So I Can Move Dirt. Should Be Ready To Race By 3rd Week Of June.
I Have A Big Truck Going To Use For The Drivers Stand. To See If I Get Enough Racers To Build The Very Big Drivers Stand.
With The Economy As Bad As It Is I Do Not Want To Spend Alot Of Money If There Is No Money To Make. I Do Not Mind Spending Some If The Hobby Can Support It.
The Next Thing.... There Are 1/5th Cars That Are Better Priced Than 1/8th Buggies Or Trucks On Ebay. Check It Out.
Just Remember 230 Or 260 Size Motors. And Because There Are 2 Sizes When I Run The Races There Will Be Handicaps For Slower Cars. I Will Keep All The Data From Each Race And The Races Will Be Averaged Out. So If You Are Really Fast You Will Be Spotting The Other Cars.
I Intend On Having Fun And Running For Prizes, Like Free Racing Time Or Free Entry Fees. No More Racing For Nothing. I Do Not Believe In Racing For Nothing.
Just Remember Before You Buy A Car Or Truck Make Sure I Am Going To Run Them.
Right Now Mostly Hpi Style B5 Buggies Or Bugs 230 And 260 Motors And 2 Wheel Drive, The Standard Brakes, If You Have 4 Wheel Brakes You Will Be Handicaping Cars With 2 Wheel Brakes. The 260 And 230 Will Run Together You Will Run Qualifing Laps And The Handicaps Will Come From That. If You Sand Bag And Run To Fast Any One Heat Your Handicap Will Change. So No Cheating Will Be Done Here. Every One Will Have Fun And No One Will Have An Advantage. So Do Not Think Your Going To Be The Fast Guy And Win Everything.
The Trucks Are To Expensive Right Now. But They Will Be Coming I Am Sure.
Ok I Will Send Some Pics As The Track Is Being Worked On.
Also Making The Track With Drains So It Will Drain Fast So We Can Race Allmost Any Time.
If You Have Anything To Say About The Track Or Racing I Would Like To Hear From You.
Thanks
Butch
BUTCH RATELL 06-12-2008, 07:24 AM still moving dirt. getting closer. hoping for july some time. man lots of dirt. need 50 more truck loads.
looking good so far. no water on the track once it rains thats what i want. if it does rain it would be dry very fast.
need more dirt to make it level. thats where i am at right now! this is the tough part to get it level and smooth.
i have to make a test race as soon as it is complete.to see how many racers i will get. if there are enough racers, i will build the 7000.00 drivers stand.
i have a truck to stand on right now.
so if there are people out there looking at this. please let me know if you would come and race in warren, ohio it will be a 1/4 to 1/5th to 1/8 scale race oval with combined off road track.
right now 1/5th scale are less money than 1/8 and the 1/5th are so much bigger and tougher, more like a real car.
it is coming. stay tuned.
BUTCH RATELL 06-24-2008, 09:38 AM rain rain and more rain. does not look good for this year. but it may dry out soon. never know.
got the amb and 15 transponders. just need some dry weather and the track will be ready to run.
doing the sun dance.........
BUTCH RATELL 08-26-2008, 10:47 PM ok new update. track is made. need some jumps yet. but i would like to do a test race before end of year. keep in touch. will be running my own car on it for awhile to see how it looks. need some rain to see if there are mud holes.
this is going ot be a racing track not a jumping jack track. just some bumps to make it more than flat and the dirt will not be packed. it is made for 1/5 scale cars and they do not like hard packed dirt.
getem ready. i will let you know when to come and race.
racerjordan 08-27-2008, 07:48 AM post some pics if ya can.
i would Love to see a 1/4 scale on an offroad track. that would be awsome.
BUTCH RATELL 08-28-2008, 07:32 AM i should have some pics next week. going to lay out with paint lines.
if you guys are running 1/8 nitro, once you see how inexpensive the 1/5 cars and trucks are you will never go back to nitro. plus the cars are so much more like the real ones to drive. they have the weight to make the suspensions work.
the 1/5 will be the most of the rc stuff the 1/4 will be next year. but no one makes them so it will be just this track only and my design.
thinking of having 6x6 that are painted for track layout for next summer.
i can't wait myself. wooo hooo i have looked around and have not seen a track as big as this one will be. at over a 1000 foot run line it is big. could make a dirt oval with a 700 foot run line. that may come next year.
depends on how many racers i get for the off road. so far i know of 30 people with 1/5 b5 cars
keep in touch. it will get alot better.
BUTCH RATELL 09-03-2008, 09:31 PM I Am Testing The Lap Counter. The Track Is Close To Being Ready. I Have One More Day Of Work And I Can Go See If The Lap Counter Works.
Then I Will Let You See The Track.
Remember I Am Setting It Up For Large Scale. The Track Will Not Be Flat. It Will Be A Off Road Track. It Will Not Be Hard Surfaced. It Will Be Fairly Soft So The Tires Can Dig In. Ruts Are Good. Just Like The Big Dogs. Watch Tv This Will Be What It Will Be Like. Think Brakes. It Will Be Fast But You Will Have To Use The Brakes.
Tell Your Buddies. I Will Have At Least One Race This Year. Probly The End Of Sept.
BUTCH RATELL 09-19-2008, 12:28 PM Update
Track Is Layed Out And Could Be Run. I Am Going Out Today And Run My B5 And See How It Is.
1400 Run Line And 20 Foot Wide Lanes.
I Have To Get The Loop And Set Things Up! Watch For Pics And When We Will Have A Race Soon I Hope Before Winter,
BUTCH RATELL 10-16-2008, 06:52 AM changed the track. made a oval track and will have the off road combined with the oval.
looking good. coming along nicly. little by little. want it to be nice the first time.
needs to be nice and flat on the oval and be able to drain also. i am pretty sure it will be! need some rain to see if there is puddles.
stay tuned. hope the economy gets better for next summer. we need it bad. gooooo america. no exporting of jobs.
