In case you haven't seen them, both Mike Nelson and Joel Hodgson are back taking shots at movies both unknown and known. Hodgson's offerings are titled "Cinematic Titanic" and are currently available on DVD, and shortly will be offered as downloads. It is the whole movie with the silhouettes, but it will be original members of the MST3K writing and acting team filling the seats.
Mike Nelson's company, Rifftrax, does audio commentary to be played synced with the movie in a DVD player. Their advantage is doing movies that are usually readily available for rent or purchase.
Has anyone bought either, and what did you think?

I haven't seen either, but in other big MST3K news, Rhino isn't going to be releasing MST3k DVD's anymore.

Actually, I think it's a good thing, Rhino did a horrible job imho, the sets were over-priced and released haphazardly. Hopefully Best Brains will do a better job.

I bought a few of the Rifftrax commentaries, and it was just like old times. There's also the other project, from Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett — "The Film Crew." It's also on DVD. Essentially the same thing as MST3K, without the silhouettes and the robots per se. Only seen one of those so far, but it hit all the right notes too.

Being lazy and not following the links, but - is Trace Beaulieu involved in any of these? Not to diss the Mike Nelson years because I thoroughly enjoyed those as well, but the writing was never the same without him.
