There are actually two manufactures that make bodies. WCM, and Graphic Results. I havent tried any of Graphic Results bodies but they look pretty good. The mojority of racers use the WCM bodies and as far as a car bodies go...I have found the Ford bodies to be the most durable. The Dodges have a tendancy to crack and Chevys are almost as good as the Fords, but thats just from what I have seen!

The body you are thinking of from Germany is the CEC ford. They are a great body and very well balanced....however they dont make them any more and from what I understand some people tried to get ahold of the mold but it is damaged.

Taking a body ie Chevy, Dodge, Ford that you have on hand and pouring resin into it to produce a production mold.

Edit means that in stead of producing your on mold you make a mold from the item say for instance a already formed body :dude:

What would it be called if someone?Fiberglassed over a body.Which would be there own plug or mold. Then vaccum form off that.Would it be called reverse engineering?

Chance62
03-26-2008, 07:00 PM
Yes technically it is lega. They dont have a stamp though.

I would like to see us go in the direction of something like those 1/10 th scale bodies. Maybe not quite so "downforcey". I dont know if thats a word! But I would like to see that way before we run shopping carts....I mean COT's!

The context of my response is in regard to back-filled bodies that have not been formally approved by QSAC.

It was not intended in any way, shape or form to be directed toward any other body (e.g. CEC or any of the bodies offered by WCM).

The discussion regarding the formal stamping of the bodies took place on this formal over a year ago; and as you stated, was pushed-out to the year 2009.

I apologize if this didn't come across in the way I intended.

How do we know that back poured bodies aren't being run now?if they will or should i say most cut corners on mold making and back pour they will probly cut corners on the quality lexan to and that will show up just as bad

Exactly...

And I believe there were a few of these available and sold to QSAC members
sometime during the past three years. They were either pulled too hot or were pulled with an off-brand of lexan and cracked quite easily.

most of us buy direct from the manufacturer or at least i do so you will not get a body that has been back poured unless the guy on the street corner is in to 1/4 scales now LOL

Great point; and one I hope everyone would follow as well.

There were a couple of guys that ran the CEC bodies, but most everyone at MPR runs the WCM bodies.

i say that because look what bodys we have now monte carlo, intrepid, tauras they are a little out of date but they are great performing bodys for what we need and have at the momment it cost a lot of $$$$$ to make a mold that isnt worth it right now you have to look at it from the manufacturer side a little i would rather those guys come up with some nice upgrades for chassis performance than a new body which with the right decals you can make it what you want

There are still quite a few guys running the CEC Ford. I saw a few in Easley a couple weeks ago. I know that Brent was running one. If I could get my hands on one I would too!

You should contact Mark Aldrich.

I know at one time (2006) he was able to order some of the CEC Taurus bodies.
