View Full Version : looking at big oval indoor track in fort wayne 8HerT 03-23-2008, 12:20 PM looking at a building that would hould (2) big indoor tracks and one would be a dirt oval both tracks could be 200 x150 one of the will but the oval track will be what size is best for oval :woohoo:  56 DIRT 03-28-2008, 10:14 PM in order to facilitate 1/8 and 1/10,i would say approx 275 ft runline 8HerT 03-29-2008, 09:40 PM it can be done building is 500' long racer57 04-07-2008, 07:18 AM 275 seems really big to try to run electric stuff on it. Bumps and C&S are both just over 220 and they would be plenty big for both 1/10 and 1/8. You will also want to think about having something small enough for the 1/18th scale craze that seems to be pretty popular in Indiana right now. Good luck with the track. 8HerT 10-08-2008, 08:38 PM ok oval drit racers its happening indoor drit oval in fort wayne it will be at the track and there will be a full hobby shop keep cking hope to be ready to go in few weeks scottman2007 10-09-2008, 09:40 PM 8Hert. First off you could do a oval that had 200 ft run line and that would be big enough for 1/8th and 1/10th scale,As for 1/18th scale i would do a alot smaller maybe 170ft run line. Also where is this building you are looking at in Ft wayne???will electric only or nitro and electric??I have a 1/18th slider,1/10th slider and 1/8th scale nitro coversion late model. Keep us posted.and also on the ovals i would make them banked alittle. 8HerT 10-10-2008, 08:29 PM It Will Be Both Electric And Nitro  nutz4rc 10-10-2008, 09:27 PM This building better have a really good heating, cooling, air filtration and humidity control systems. If you water a dirt track in a building without these controls, the carpet track may suffer. If it is heated in the winter without adequate moisture, the dirt may turn into cement. Also if the nitro fumes land on the carpet track, you will have carpet issues. Maybe you can separate the two tracks. Fire Marshall OK with nitro indoors? Good luck. 8HerT 10-10-2008, 10:29 PM this building has got it all and the more it 1000 times better than the building last year. 8HerT 10-10-2008, 10:31 PM not doing carpet just dirt nutz4rc 10-11-2008, 08:55 AM That makes it easier to handle. Again, good luck. Blueribbon 10-11-2008, 12:37 PM Hey, what's up with the Hobby Shop? Who's going to have the hobby shop??? Nick's????? I hear you had better stop by and see him. Something about old business. scottman2007 10-12-2008, 08:22 PM So how soon will the track be ready for some testing nitro and electric?,be nice if you guys run the 10th scale slider class and stick to the stock rules for the class,i have a nitro 1/8 late model as well coverted from a losi 8 buggy. 8HerT 10-13-2008, 10:05 PM hope to start puting dirt down next week have a race that i am going to this weekend so i will start working on it next week 56 DIRT 10-14-2008, 08:12 PM just to let ya know,c&s is building a bigger dirt oval to run the 1/8th scales on outside as they feel its too small for the 1/8ths.I am the owner of Music City R/C raceway and our track is the perfect size for all scales 1/18,1/10,1/8.Check out the track picts in this forum.run line is 265.200 will not be big enough for 1/8ths unless the lanes are 20 feet wide. Stateline R/C 10-20-2008, 09:13 PM nobody races 18th scales that i have seen around here scottman2007 10-22-2008, 08:20 PM Any updates on any progress of the Ovals Yet??? Stateline R/C 11-20-2008, 10:33 PM ill keep things posted as they progress scottman2007 11-28-2008, 08:53 AM So any progress going to get done this weekend on the track.where are they at,at this point??? scottman2007 12-06-2008, 03:52 PM Hey Guys Its been a couple weeks since they got the building any Progress report yet??? scottman2007 12-13-2008, 03:29 PM Ok so is this track going to happen or not ?? its been almost a month since they got the go ahead on the building on lima and We havent heard another word about its since.Almost 4 wks. Stateline R/C 12-13-2008, 03:33 PM its a dead deal... scottman2007 12-14-2008, 08:32 PM That really Sucks,i was looking for a place to run fairly close this winter,Dang I have two Oval cars ,1/8th nitro late model,1/10 losi Sprinter. So do you know what happen??? Or was he just blowing smoke about making a Track? Stateline R/C 12-16-2008, 07:39 AM one of the hospitals wanted it for a records building so it took a while for that to be decided, they were going to have to put in a complete sprinkler system so they finally said no thanks. then i guess they had a problem about moving that much dirt into it or something the realtor on this deal has been a goofball since day one. im sure he will look for something again next year. just have to start a little sooner. its hard to find a place big enough to do somethinng like this that wont break the bank in the process theres ALOT of overhead when running a track in the winter i did it once and that was enough for me, ill stick to outdoor. keep them ready for this summer scottman2007 12-16-2008, 08:48 PM Yeah I will kepp them ready,One thing I wish you would change is oval racing on saturday night, instead of friday night,I work down in Indy and live in Muncie, and by the time I get home on friday from work its after 5pm,then its after 7pm before i can get there and thats rushing it.Please switch oval racing to either saturday nights or start at 8pm on friday,I love your track and want to race there,I wonder if you did race oval on saturday nights if you would get a bigger Crowd??I hope you can try and promote getting 1/10th losi slider SPec class and Promote 1/8th Nitro Late model...please!!!!!!! one more thing that would help your track is get the website back up and running but change it alot with news and events and promote new classes for the track and things like that, keep the website interesting and new,and keep fresh post on the message board about things,Just my 2 cents buddy. Stateline R/C 12-16-2008, 10:48 PM i have a guy looking at doing the web site right now. i dont know if the sat night thing would work its hard to say when the off road would get done every sat. ft wayne (summit) also put in a dirt oval but its only elect. i think they will be racing on sat there. we will get it all going again. going to plan a series for the summer also. scottman2007 12-17-2008, 04:27 PM You cant move offroad to sunday or move Oval to sunday? vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
