ccm399 03-22-2008, 10:53 AM :woohoo: I smell a ROAD TRIP!!!!!!! :woohoo:
ccm399 03-22-2008, 02:47 PM Do you guys run electric and Nitro on the same day??? How's the 2wd Mod buggy (Open Buggy?) turnout?
I can bring my 1/8 scale and 1/10 scale if so....
Thanks,
Chris
I think I found my answer by checking the results from last season...looks like they run on the same day. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Scott54 03-22-2008, 03:45 PM I think I'm going to put a lot of miles on my car traveling to all of these tracks this summer and Oak Hill is one I'm going to hit for sure. What day do you guys normally race?
ccm399 03-22-2008, 03:48 PM Looks like from the results page on the website (And it seems I remember) they raced on Saturday's last season.
Shouldn't you be racing????
Scott54 03-22-2008, 04:52 PM Looks like from the results page on the website (And it seems I remember) they raced on Saturday's last season.
Shouldn't you be racing????
Well, I'm not racing now because I'm at work... :( , and because of that I' won't be racing saturdays until I get on a different shift... Which I'm working on!!
jr3gone8 03-22-2008, 06:42 PM This year will be the same as last year running on Saturdays starting at 9:30 am practice and racing at 12:30 pm. This year there will be oval racing starting at 5:30 pm racing starting at 7:00pm sharp. There is going to be 3 six week point series with the racer with the best average in each class will be the track champion.:woohoo: The tracks will be changed at the beginning of each 6 week series.
Dietz 03-23-2008, 09:34 AM I've heard you might run 2 quals, if this is true,it might hinder racers from coming.
ccm399 03-23-2008, 09:45 AM I've heard you might run 2 quals, if this is true,it might hinder racers from coming.
Interesting....
They have six hours to run the races in so as long as they don't get over about 9 or so heats they should be able to run three heats and the mains.
Good question though.....hope the answer is three!
Minit76 03-23-2008, 10:05 AM I've heard you might run 2 quals, if this is true,it might hinder racers from coming.
I hope this isn't true for it's a very long commute for very short track time.
To answer your question Chris they do run electric and nitro on the same day. They switch back and forth between the two tracks.
ccm399 03-23-2008, 10:08 AM Thanks Web. That's whaet it looked like on the results section of their website. Looks like they get a 2wd Mod buggy class too. Maybe Jason, Kelly and Jeremy will come up too.
trashedmaxx 03-23-2008, 10:40 AM Thanks Web. That's whaet it looked like on the results section of their website. Looks like they get a 2wd Mod buggy class too. Maybe Jason, Kelly and Jeremy will come up too.
Chris, this track is only about 15 miles for Paul and I and the rest of the ErieRcRaceway crew so we will be there to run some electric.
ccm399 03-23-2008, 10:45 AM Cool!
I will talk to Jason M and see if he and the crew are up for a road trip.
jr3gone8 03-23-2008, 05:30 PM :wave:At this time we going to be opening the track at 9:30am,practice at 10:00drivers meeting 11:00 and racing at 11:30 am sharp. If everything goes good it should'nt be a problem running 3 heats and a main. If i'm thinking right, we were done most days by 4:30-5:00 and I thought we ran quite a few 3 heat and a main? I think that the track designer is ready to go. If I know Tom it will be awsome again. So hopefully we will be out side racing in late April or early May.
Minit76 03-23-2008, 07:45 PM Sounds good just keep us all posted on the opening day.

I'll be out this year as long as there are 3 quals. An hour and half ride is a long ride for just 2
ToNyyyyy 03-25-2008, 12:54 PM I may just have to come out one weekend never been here!
badassrevo 03-25-2008, 01:18 PM I will come back out for more fun.
jr3gone8 03-25-2008, 07:04 PM  We are going to run 3 heats for sure.:woohoo: Tonyyyyy, you will not be disapointed. Well be ready for a lot of fun hopefully everyone is as ready as we are. Its that cabin fever thing. Just talking with my little buddy and he thinks that this ironman race may be a 2 man team event? Mabey we can get some truggy teams this year? Its going to be laborday weekend agian this year.
JMPN02 03-26-2008, 08:45 PM I for one can't wait to get back out to Oak hill. Zerbe and the crew are a great bunch of racers and know how to have a good time.Looking forward to opening day!!!!:woohoo:
jr3gone8 03-26-2008, 08:59 PM I have to adjust the 3 heat thing, I was talking to Chuck & Chris and what they said is that it will all depend on the turn out. Last year they ran 5 min heats and 8 min main for electric and I think 5 min heat & 15 min main with 2 heats and we were done around 4:30 with everything. With that said they said that if we all run and marshall like were asked they would be willing to give it a shot. But what about 2 heats with a 6 min heat and a 8 min main electric and 7 min heat and a 20min a main for nitro? They also were saying that they are going to be running a 6 week point series with 3 series and who ever has the bect average finish for all three will be the track champion. They also were talking about mabey a hoodie or mabey a jacket with track champion on it.:woohoo: let us know what sounds better to you guys. Thanks
ccm399 03-26-2008, 09:22 PM I would not mind cutting out a heat to run a longer main.......until I need that 3 round to make the show!!!!! LOL :p
Time management is THE hard part with these races/shows. I wish everybody knew how much it hurts the pace when the announcer has to call for Marshals and such. :o
I know last season we had to run 2 quals a couple times but we always shot for three and the main. People did not seem to mind much. I know we would put it to a vote and let the racers decide if they wanted to run 3 rounds with a 10 minute main or 2 rounds with a 15 minute main and the long main ALWAYS won!
Two rounds of 7 minute quals is an interesting idea. It cuts out a whole round worth of time between heats. That really helps with the time management side of things....plus the racers get the track time.
Technically three 5 minute heats with a 15 minute main is 30 minutes of track time (not counting warmups) Technically 42 minutes total with 3 minute warmups for each heat and the main.
With two 7 minute quals and a 20 minute main it is a total of 34 minutes of track time (not including warmups) So technically it would be a total track time with 3 minute warmups is 43 minutes.
So the only down side is when I have two bad quals in a row.....will there be bumps?!?!?!? :p
Chris
B4ovalracer 03-27-2008, 06:53 PM I believe last year there was bumps every week and for every class.
jr3gone8 03-27-2008, 08:46 PM  Well I had a chance to talk to Chris and Chuck and they said they will be running 3 heats. You bring up some good point Chris. I agree with you and we will have to bring it up at the drivers . I do agree with you racers that have to travel a long way, that running more would make it worth wild coming. And yes they are doing bump ups like last year.
jr3gone8 03-28-2008, 09:09 PM Well I guess we have come up with a plan:thumbsup:It will be 3 heats. As far as the point series they decided that there will be one but they are thinking about something different. Keep looking on the web sight for updates.:woohoo:
jr3gone8 03-29-2008, 08:27 AM Hello:wave:

4WD Racer 04-02-2008, 01:55 AM About the 8 mintues main for Electric, keep in mind not everyone necessarily has Lipo's yet, or some of the larger capacity NiMh's. That would certainly exlude others that I know from attending, not necessarily myself.
I prefer shorter qualifiers x 2 at least, and I believe 7 mins main is more than sufficent when it comes to electric, and any thing beyond that might be pushing it for some others.
Anyways, for some ideas for the electric mains. How about this, even with time containt in place. Try triple-A mains for the finals. (For modifieds only, say 2wd mod & 4wd mod etc). The stock can have a single main. That'll be far more exciting than watching the TQ break on the first lap of a main, or holding a single main. (The time thing, sure its a issue, but you're there to race, not there to be in a hurry to get back home. I'm sure that with some improvising, that it could be done in a timely fashion. I don't see other tracks doing this, except at bigger events.)
However that being said, I do like the idea of bumps up from lower mains in the electric classes.
badassrevo 04-02-2008, 08:20 AM Medina always ran 10min mains and the current nimh 3800 and 4200 now 4600 will have no problem making the time with a brushless motor.
Lipo only makes it easier to keep up with charging and will not require multiple packs.
4WD Racer 04-02-2008, 02:54 PM I completely and totally agree with you Doug in everyway. I too run the Lipo's, and my previous NiMh's made those kind of run time with ease. So I wouldn't have any issue there.
However, I'm only speaking out of concern for those that haven't made the transition yet to, or it wouldn't be totally fair to those that would be left out by increasing the mains to 8 mins/10mins from the current main lengths.
I can tell you that my family and few friends that I have helped to get started and set-up with r/c cars recently are still running NiCd 2400's or similar capacity batteries for the most part with brushed motor, and in that case the new 8 mins would start to hurt, let alone ten or more.
I might feel awarkward, and I don't think it would be fair for me to ask them to upgrade all of their batteries to newer Lipo's/NiMh's, chargers, equipments simply just so they can run at an another track, when they are able to make run time for either 6 or 7 mins mains as it is currently. I wouldn’t think they could afford it anyway too, beside they are already having tons of fun with their equipment as is, minus the high cost of new equipment.
I would suggest making an enduro class, as seen at the Cactus Classic for those wishing to run 10-15 mins mains for instance, but let's keep the rest electric class at a reasonable length run time such as the 7 mins mains/ 5 mins Qualifiers seen at Ryan's track (Ashtabula), or the 6 mins r/c electric pro format, etc for others that want to be able to complete with what they have I think those format are working great and turning out huge amount of electric racers as is. I wouldn't try to increase it more than that.
I'll rather win, because my driving skills were better, not because my equipment runs longer and better than the other guy that dumped early. Just my opinion, and suggestion to take into consideration. That's all. :) All right. Good racing everyone.
jr3gone8 04-02-2008, 08:58 PM We are really taking all your suggestions into the end result. The theory that 4wd brought up is 100% as you know Doug, we like Ryan, try to make it for every one to race without costing a lot of money, If you don't have it to spend. So we are really looking at 7 or 8 min mains, as far as 3 a-mains thats interesting? We had a guy run a 8 min 4wd main, with a 13-2 motor and a 3800 batt and he bearly made it the whole race.
