I searched the forums, but couldn't find it. I've heard of some company making special body post screws that you screw into the top of your body posts. Apparently it has a sharp end sticking up and you can place a painted body on your car, push down, and it pokes small holes in the proper locations.

In a perfect world, I'd do the body holes prior to painting, but lately, I've found it's a lot more efficient to paint 2+ bodies at a time.

I dont know if anyone makes them or not, but I have cut the head off a button head and sharpened it. I have also used diff lube on top of the body posts to mark the holes. Another trick is a flash light.

The only ones I ever saw were from Trinity. They just slipped over the tops of the posts and were held in place by off-set o-rings.

Thanks for the Trinity info fellas. The Trinity marker set might work for the rears (as long as the holes are in the center of post), but they would not work up front due to the angled posts.

J-Dub, how do you screw in your modified headless screw?

With angled body posts, the height of this device sticking out will affect the contact point. So what we need is something that will screw into the holes, be low profile, and sharp. I'm thinking of modifying a ball stud. This way you can still screw it in and out.

once you get the rears drilled, put the screws in it. Then get the body where you want it and push down on the front a little. If you run alum. posts the holes will be marked for you where the paint scratches. Diff lube works good too.

What you want are called "transfer screws". Look them up in McMaster-Carr or MSC, you'll want 4-40 size.

Well, you just saved me a whole bunch of time on another project, telling me about these. Thank you!

James, all you have to do is ask a machine shop guy to make them for you. Don't you race with Bill Dysart?

I saw these on Nexus (http://nexusracing.net/product_info.php?cPath=146_198&products_id=1784). I have a set of these, I use them on the rear to get the body lined up. then I mark the front with a sharpie.

Oh, Nexus is a great company to order from!
