Pics are from E_Bay listing (http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Matchbox-Superfast-America-1965-Shelby-Cobra-RARE_W0QQitemZ140217455389QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item 140217455389), the seeler is asking for a BIN of $9.99 - seems very steep to me. Has anyone seen these in stores?
roadwarrior 03-21-2008, 01:30 AM I've checked 5 WM and none carry the SuperFast:confused:
sspcasp 03-21-2008, 09:18 AM This is the last of the Superfast America Set...there are 5 cars total in this release...El Camino, Cadillac Eldo, 1969 Z-28 Camaro, Mercury Cougar and the Cobra...these have shown up at Gordman's Stores...but they are starting to become available at on-line retailers.
Midwest Diecast is one of them...I'm sure there will be more.
Happy Hunting

tamiyatim 03-21-2008, 09:57 AM Awesome!! I didn't know they put those wheels on any of the cobras!!! COOL!! wish it were dark Shelby Racing blue though....
roadwarrior 03-21-2008, 11:21 AM I was able to get most of that series when they came out,but WM quit carrying them. These are the only ones I was able to find.

VWowner 03-21-2008, 06:09 PM I hope it's not a kit.....:p
David Tilley 03-21-2008, 06:27 PM Wal-Mart decided to not stock the last 5 of the series after they realized that they were ready for the 2008 Superfast and did not want these put out only a matter of weeks before. It took a while, but Mattel finally got them back in their distribution center at the end of February.
They were then sent to "close out" which is Mattel speak for whoever wants them can buy them. As noted, Midwest Diecast is one of the dealers that has manaeged to get some of them.
The thing is though, these 5 models are produced in the same quantity as the other 13 models in the Superfast America range, and are therefore worth the exact same amount as the other 13 models in the Superfast America range. The only difference is now you need to look elsewhere and not in Wal-Mart to find them.
:) :D :p

Thank you for the full story. Any idea what other retailers, particularly big retailer, got them?
jedimario 03-21-2008, 07:13 PM Wal-Mart.
Wal-Mart.
Negative, my friend. Seems that Wal-Mart is one place that's definitely not carrying these. Read David's post again.
jedimario 03-21-2008, 08:53 PM But Wally had them at one point, and no doubt some Wal-Marts still ahve a few. He asked what retailers "got them", which implies had them at one point. Wal-Mart indeed had them at one point, or at least mine did.

I don't know, sounds like these last 5, including the Cobra, were never put out. If the Cobra hit your Wal-Mart, that's very interesting.

Wal-Mart never...never had the last 5 cars!!!
Gordman's and Midwest are the only 2 places that I know has had them.
Happy Hunting!!!
jedimario 03-21-2008, 11:52 PM Oh, didn't realize he was just talking about the last five :( :drunk:
David Tilley 03-22-2008, 07:00 AM Yes, that's right. When it comes to the first 13 models, Wal-Mart was the only place you could get them (unless you buy from ebay). However, because Wal-Mart canceled them so they could bring the new 2008 Superfast in quicker the last 5 of the series was never to be found at a Wal-Mart store.
No large retailer will be taking them. This means you will not find them in Toys R Us, Target, K-Mart, Sears, or anything of any significant size.
So far the only reported store that has taken them is Gordman's.
Midwest Diecast (and I believe Kiddie Kar) have ordered them to bring in as they are dealers.

montegogt 03-28-2008, 08:13 PM G_G, I see the seller has another one for auction with a BIN of $7.50 since that is all his other auction brought.

I'm also still looking for this one for my Cobra collection.
olesarge90 03-28-2008, 08:46 PM May I offer this suggestion if you are looking to purchase a set of the last 5 SFA series and/or a set of Best of British 2008 (12 cars). As you will see, it was posted on 03-21-2008, 11:37 PM. I found that post/offering about 2-3 days later. Since then I was about to contact the sellers and I received my paypal confirmation notice today. About Monday or Tuesday, I should be in tall cotton as they say. Good luck locating the one(s) that you all are seeking...olearge90/Gill

Hi Montego,
I orginally had the same Cobra pics up (through links to an E_Bay item) - they changed to the Mustang pics because it seems that the link target was modified by the seller.
I remember that BIN for $7.50 with a shipping charge of $2.50, I think. Still, it's hard to psychologically justify spending $10 for a $4 car, considering it's not particulalry limited in production. I think I'll wait out until some large retailer picks these last SuperFast releases up.

As I said, I ordered the last five and got them shipped to my door along with the 2008 Best of British for $19.00 and $36.00 respectively. Priority shipping and insurance was only $13.00 for all toll, $72.25 for 17 models= $4.25 for each model. No muss, no fuss and certainly not hasseline (gasoline) either...Give me a shout and I will fill you in on the address and all. By the way here are the snap-shots that I made this morning when they arrive...olesarge90/Gill

sspcasp 04-02-2008, 04:21 PM Gill is correct...there are a few different on-line retailers selling the last 5 Superfast America you can buy a whole set (almost) for the price of that one car. I know when these were first released I had my shorts in a bunch because they were only available at the Gordman Stores, then within a few days information surfaced that they would be available at on-line retailers.
Making it easy to obtain and easier on the pocket book.
Gill takes great pictures as usual but that Camaro is absolutely beautiful in person.
Happy Hunting
