Time to jump into the Wayback Machine, frenzied neighbors...remember the MPC DARK SHADOWS kits? The Fundimensions Haunted Glo-Heads kits? Remember how, unlike Aurora's Frightening Lightning, they glowed with an eerie BLUE glow? Does anybody know how they accomplished that? I've asked Frank Winspur and Scott McKillop and they have no idea either...

sad, true...can't argue the point...the attempt at making poseable arms for the DS kits was probably not the best idea...but it's the blue glow that's kept me curious all these years...

That's why they were "blue". HA! Get it?! Blue! like, blue, sad, blue.... you know--sad and blue-blue? er... I'm gonna shut up now.

its simply another type of glow in the dark pigment. its not as widly used is all, probably because it doesnt seem to glow as brightly. most suppliers of glow pigment that i have found offer the blue as well as the standard green.

I remember that the blue didn't seem to have the same intense glow as the green...

I had the cane from the Barnabas kit; the blue glow was much more subtle, almost ultraviolent looking. I'd honestly prefer it in any glow kit than the standard brighter green...could see some really neat fx could be accomplished with it (hint to anyone producing glow parts herebouts...)

the problem is that for most people (that dreaded general public) the most important thing about anything "glow-in-the-dark" is how brightly it glows.

I don't necessarily hold with "brighter is better" with glow kits...I actually have rather a warm spot in my heart for the subtle blue glow plastic...

Does any one know if the mpc molds to the barnabas and werewolf kits are still around? Was hoping they might get reissued sometime down the road now that Tom Lowe is in charge with the Polar/AMT/MPC molds.they might not exist any more.

The box art was much cooler than the actual models:
