Back in 97/98 I wanted to collect the Challenge cars, but I only found two. A while back I posted that I was looking for them and WLPaul came through, In a great trade (Paul yours are on the way) I received all but the three HTF ones, which I will get someday, but they sure look neat in the case. The non-matching car and the buffalo are marking the spots for the missing cars. Thanks a lot Paul!

Sorry for the pics, it's hard to take a pic of a mirrored back case.

He's been in my diecast display for ever. I picked him up in 1970-71 on a family trip through the Black Hills in South Dakota.

I'm missing the two out of the 10 packs and the 1-750 winners 57 chevy. Not common cars.

Welcome to another VW Guy! there are a few of us here.

Gerald congrats on getting to where you are on the Challenge collection. That is a cool collection. Let us know which ones your loking for specifically (# and casting) so if we see them we can grab them.

PS the Buffalo rocks!

Gerald, Explain the Challenge cars and where they are located/found. I figured if I don't know I'm going to ask. They look great in the disply cases. I vote to paint the Buffalo the same color...

Thanks

They look awesome in that case, Gerald! I'm glad you like them! I could never find the other 3, and they were taking up space where more WL's could be.

Thanks as well for your box.

In 1997 Matchbox took on Treasure Hunts with the Challenge series. The Challenge was to get all of them. If you found five, and sent a picture in of you with them, you had a chance of the 57 Chevy prize, 1 of 750. These were only around in 97 and 98. Ebay (or good luck) is where you find them now.

WOW! Congrats Geralde. Very impressive. I only have 8 of them..... but one is the 57 chevy!!! Don't ask me how, but my son knew enough to save them for me as I had given them to him to play with. He stashed them, the little bugger :woohoo:

Since you only have eight, you really don't need that 57 Chevy do you? Just Kidding. Congrats

I had them all, including the ten packs, but I traded all my matchbox to a matchbox guy for a massive Johnny lightning collection that he didn't want. 95 toy fair set, bunch of FAO Swartz sets, etc. I only kept the 57 chevy, interestingly enough the guy didn't care about it because it wasnt one of the "75":confused::thumbsup:

I should have gotten that '57 from you when I had a chance! Do you remember the trade we were going to do? Would you still honor it? I would if you would!

Congrats on the set Gerald!

We were talking about a trade in 1999 but I didn't go through with it.

I wish I still had those 6 gold trucks (in the 10 packs) I found at a HobbyCo in California. I sold them for what they cost plus shipping.

I also have every Premiere and World Class set up through 1997 and most for 1998. I have another interesting set called Collector's Choice. I used to be big into Matchbox, but Mattel changed that when they bought them and started messing up the Premiere set distribution.
