One of the greatest scifi writers of all time, and a huge personal inspiration has left us.

RIP Mr Clarke! :(

One of the greats. Sad, but 90 is a pretty good run.

Yes, very sad news but, given his age perhaps not entirely unexpected. His fiction, particularly his short stories, was one of the triggers for me getting into SF.
It's a shame the film adaptation of Rendezvous With Rama never got past the talking stage. Last I heard, Morgan Freeman owned the rights and was due to star with David Fincher directing...

There goes a Major Dude who left a big positive influence on me. Others too, I'd bet. I'm sad, but grateful he was here. I wouldn't be the same person, I don't think. I'd wish the kids I work with had as powerfull an influence.

I was just thinking of him over the weekend and wondering how old he was nowadays. A giant among giants.

A true visionary. Now he can explore the cosmos to see how accurate he really was!
Godspeed Mr. Clarke.

One of the old time 'realistic' sci-fi writers. He used science facts to put people in jeopardy, as opposed to the fantasy based sci-fi that is prevalent today.

Yes, truly a great one is gone. :(

I'm surprised no one has said this:

He's gone to touch the great black monolith in the sky...

Just the other day I was thinking about the possibility of his passing on, knowing he was getting on. And now this. His influence on me and many others is profound - I may not share his views on everything, but what a man he was! I'm grateful he was with us!
