View Full Version : What up Stream racers
Bodido 02-18-2003, 11:53 AM Dirty:
Money race is now a trophy race at Goldsboro. Maybe they feel guilty about not working on the track. The trophys look real nice though. We still plan to go.
Josh, Shane, and I went this past Saturday, and ran stock truck. We sucked. Josh still won, but he was struggling compared to normal. We all made the A, but me and Shane did it with fast 14 lap runs. Normally we'd be in the middle of the B with those times, so it was a slow crowd.
Jady: If Rusty does allow us to run gas, I think not allowing T-maxxes to run would be very, very, dumb. NO BIG BLOCKS, sure... BUT there's too much potential to bring new people into racing with those things. Personally I don't care for them, but they open allot of peoples eyes to this hobby. These people could be our future competitors in gas or mod truck, once they realize what money pits those T's are. If we had a couple full mains of them, Rusty could afford to send Lisa to Japan and Canada a couple times a year just off of the parts sales.
Jady... Have you talked to Matt? He said if you hadn't bought something to drive yet, you can borrow one of his work trucks for a while.
BUBBAICM 02-18-2003, 03:44 PM all T-maxes welcome at debbies swamp buggy track right now lol Rusty is it ice or mud?????
EmptyCanRacing 02-18-2003, 05:34 PM I'd definately race my T-Maxx. Does an .18 count as a small block? I've got my eye on the Trinity/Sirio 3.0...
Maxxes aren't necisarily money pits. Only if you dump alot of aluminum & stuff in them. Mine has been good to me. I've never broken anything during normal driving or racing. Just when I've done stupid things like jump it off of my 3rd floor apartment's stairwell & run full tilt through rocky creek beds, that sort of thing...
What good is a monster truck if you don't punish it once in awhile?
Shonuff 02-18-2003, 06:04 PM the problem wih tmaxxes is that they will destroy the track faster than an 8th scale would--remember what the 2 emaxxes did
i would rather see 8th scales then tmaxxes, my opinion
anything over .15 is bigblock--i think
still--no other class compares to mod truck, its just a matter of time till people see that.
EmptyCanRacing 02-18-2003, 06:15 PM Yeah, but who was driving them?
The .18 does make substantially more power than a .15, but isn't still technically a small block? It's a drop in motor for the T-Maxx that doesn't require a kit or anything like you would need to install .21.
I haven't seen the numbers yet, but I don't think it produces that much more power than the TRX 2.5 included in the new Maxxes.
I'd rather run 1/8 scale buggies too, but since I have a T-Maxx already..
I'd like to run mod truck as well. I know the B4 is coming out soon. Has anyone heard about anything about a T4 in the works? My B3 is extensively hopped up, so I think I'll stick with it for awhile. I don't have a truck but plan on getting one. I'd hate to buy a T3 only to have the T4 come out a few months later. I seems that when Associated uptades the buggy, the truck is usually soon to follow or vice versa. I haven't heard anything yet though.
Shonuff 02-18-2003, 06:22 PM the b4 soon--t4 april??
the people in the emaxxes were not good, dont get me wrong,(they were absolutly horrible) but francis could be wheelin one and it would have the same effect. the maxxes are just to clumsy and heavy, and that turns into track abuse.
the only "hooked up" tmaxx ive seen was gt eddies, and that was after he machined his own truck.
but, i could be wrong, maybe there is a way to do something to help the maxxes. or maybe the new track will be hard enough to take it:D
Shonuff 02-18-2003, 06:25 PM the motor im still not sue of, i can remember seeing .15 big blocks too, so, im not sure
it would be real cool if you got a 4 stroke. longer run times, making exhaust out of brakelines.....
fytefire 02-18-2003, 06:31 PM everyone knows im a big nitro fan but i think Stream sould stay all electric...if anything maybe, maybe gas truck but all electric sounds good to me....cant wait til it dries out some...sorry guys i cant make it to NC ive got to work...i havent gotten a buggy yet anyway..just waiting on the B4......Jady you need to call me if you need something to drive for a little while...my work trucks are just sitting right now.your more than welcome to come take 1 for a few days..let me know
Matt
Pushingood 02-18-2003, 10:10 PM YO
RUSTYK 02-18-2003, 10:25 PM I have no idea about nitro at the track. Noise is a big concern with the houses just across the street. The area is well suited for electric. Right now the it's a mute point. The track is so wet it will be a couple of weeks before it is usable and that's if it dosen't rain. Right now you can not drive a real car on the grass as it will sink and leave large ruts. I know everyone wants to race but I have no control over the weather.
Rusty
Chad call me at shop if you get a chance.
EmptyCanRacing 02-18-2003, 10:28 PM Yeah, I figured the noise might be a factor/problem with all the homes & businesses so close to the track.
RUSTYK 02-18-2003, 10:33 PM Thanks for the understanding.
Rusty
outOcntrl 02-18-2003, 11:06 PM O.K I need some help guys.
Just bought a M8, I get the SOB and the module has like this cap over where the crystal is. So I take alook around and the cost of modules with different crystals in them(i.e. 70,71,72) is like 50 plus bucks. Please tell me that I dont have to buy new modules and a reciever crystal to have spare freqs. Tell me that there is a way to take that cap off and simply put a different crytal in this same module. Roger I know you use the M8, but any help from anyone would be great.
Dirty
Ryan, Jady yall goin to Rosewood this weekend? I know CHad Josh and shane are.
fytefire 02-19-2003, 12:05 AM use a very small edged screw drive or a knife an pop the little square black cover of...i will come off..its a pain but it dies come off....inside you will see a normal Tx crystal......Matt
Bodido 02-19-2003, 12:33 AM I honestly would prefer Stream stay Electric only.
EmptyCanRacing 02-19-2003, 07:06 AM I'm new to the area. What is Rosewood, how far away is it & what classes do they run?
Shonuff 02-19-2003, 08:32 AM rosewood is indoor dirt in NC -- electric only
Dirty D, you got rid of the gameboy?
the m8 does take regular crystals, no need for extra modules
i am probably a no go for goldsboro-- d gimmie a call 4739160
i miss dennys the most
Shonuff 02-19-2003, 08:35 AM matt--thanks for the offer but i already bought a new pimp ride
you ALL will be jealous
Pushingood 02-19-2003, 08:52 AM Rusty......more heavy rain coming. It will be dry come May.
RUSTYK 02-19-2003, 12:45 PM And I said there was no place to race boats!!! What was I thinking???
EmptyCanRacing 02-22-2003, 04:00 PM Speaking of, I was thinking that I might try & organize some boat racing this summer. Anyone interseted?
Pushingood 02-23-2003, 08:00 PM The weather should be breaking in a few more weeks.whats the word on getting some of the good clay.I wont be able race all the time like the rest of you diehards so i probably wont be able to work on the track much either.I'll tell you this, you wont hear me complain about the track no matter what. Its just a good competitor feel racing you guys and the track, especially when I make the A-MAIN.Bring on that T4
Bodido 02-25-2003, 02:14 PM Lately the talk has been to get more of the same dirt. Trying some from a different source is a bit risky, in my opinion. Rusty was talking about doing a bit of a sprinkler system to make watering easier. I think that would be awesome. Plus... I think I know someone who could be very helpful in installing a sprinkler system (hint, hint). Frequent watering makes the track awesome. It's always been a bit of a hassle, though.
Doesn't it sound crazy to be talking about watering the track?
One thing I really want to do is come up with some form of drainage for a couple of spots... One in particular. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing? Bury PVC?
The wood for the track should be covered thanks to Jimmy Pike from Tidewater RC. He's letting us take whatever we need from his old Hampton location. The track itself, pit tables etc... We just need to get over there with cordless drills, prybars, and a couple pickup trucks.
I believe I have a free source for paint (waay more than enough). Any color we like as long as it's white!!
Come ON good weather!!!
Chad: Something you and Rusty may want to consider is water usage. I am an energy officer and deal with water consumption and fines. Under the drout conditions we were under last summer fines could be leveled. This is easier explained in person. e-mail me (track@tidewaterrc.com) or I can come down Firday, I am off, and explain this to you and Rusty in person. Do not want to see you guys hit with an added expense!
John
EmptyCanRacing 02-25-2003, 05:21 PM I've got some experience running pvc pipe in new house foundations. It's been awhile though. I'd be happy to help, but I unfortunately have to work lots of weekends at the shipyard. It's easy though, just dig the trenches, square them off nice & smooth & then grate dirt out at an angle so the water flows down & out where you want it to. I don't really know how to collect the runoff & direct it into the pipe though. you can't exactly put a drain grate in the middle of the track...
RUSTY: Do you have any throttle linkages, RPM blue vented flywheels & MIP clutches for the T-Maxx in stock?
Pushingood 02-25-2003, 07:29 PM Rusty if you want a few sprinkler heads put down, just let me know.My friend Brian owns Irrigation Specialists.Would have to get the property marked from No-Cuts. I know there is power under ground back there. You wont be able to beat his price, pay for parts only,He owes me.
RUSTYK 02-25-2003, 08:39 PM I do not want to put anything underground. I've already worked out the water sprinkler. No more hose to bathroom. Dirt will most likely be the same. Back room is beginning to take shape. It is becoming the race room. I'm ready to do some racing!!!!!
Rusty
fytefire 02-25-2003, 09:58 PM Im just ready for some warm, dry weather so we can play in the dirt..........Matt
RUSTYK 02-26-2003, 10:24 PM You bet.
slaprock 02-28-2003, 10:01 PM Hey all;

keith
Bodido 03-01-2003, 11:00 AM Jeeez.... Tell it to the world. Yeah, I break stuff. So what?!!
haha
RUSTYK 03-02-2003, 01:19 PM    Rain.I like rain I love rain. I want more rain.
Rain is my life. I'm going to Lowes to buy enough wood for an ARK. Maybe an indoor track inside the ARK. Turn marshalls will have double duty. With all those animals somebody has to shovel.
Rusty
Pushingood 03-02-2003, 06:38 PM Are the reservoirs full yet?
TexRacer 03-06-2003, 03:57 PM Hi guys.Is this the lil track behind the shop outlined in black garden tubing in Newport News?At least it was this way mid last year.I came up from Texas and raced with you guys and Enjoyed every minute of it.I didnt read back much but are you guys wanting to run nitro on that SAME track? If so PLEASE dont waste your money on 1hp plus .12's cause you will NEVER USE IT.Get Os Hyper.12's.Just some advice. If it's ALOT bigger I mean 90FT straightaway's then that motor is still best.If more than say 110ft go ahead with your bad self and step into the 1hp world otherwise your wasting money.
Track Advice.Go get some Peatmoss and till it into the dirt. This helps a track hold moisture. You can always experiment with different dirts or clays on a SECTION of the track.Try going to a retread tire place and see if they will let you have rubber shavings.Clay,Shavings,Peatmoss make a GREAT mixture for a fun track. But if using the dirt still try Peatmoss and I think you guys will like how it holds moisture.Goodluck guys and maybe see you again this year.
Les
Shonuff 03-06-2003, 04:03 PM can we get peatmoss from hardware stores??
TIDEWATER RACER 03-06-2003, 08:54 PM i dont think stream needs any more moisture.perhaps no moisture for the rest of the seanon..the track should stay wet for a couple years at the rate its goin.
Jady: Lowes, Home Depot etc all sell peatmoss. I use this in my yard. Get the big bags not the little :)
pushingood: Yes we meet here with NNWW in January. Reservoir were at 95%. This amount of rain is normal this time of year. Our reservoir Big Bethal, is full. Anybody got that B4 yet?? I would love to see one.
TexRacer 03-07-2003, 11:24 AM B4's should hit stores the 18th-23rd.
Hope this helps.
Peatmoss simply conditions the track. You will see when applied. You guys were talking about it being a hassle to water. Were not talking about all the rain, but about the track holding moisture.Peatmoss definatelly helps here.
Les
TIDEWATER RACER 03-09-2003, 07:42 PM i vote no peatmoss!! ive seen what it does. debs did it. it causes a real fine dust. if you guys plan on going with with peat moss count me out as far as gas. debs had it and ALOT like 5 or 6 people blew motors becuase of it. the air filters cannot handle that fine of a dust.
TexRacer 03-09-2003, 07:50 PM What are you talking about causes DUST?It cant.Thats simply the dirt they have that is the Dust,NOT the Peatmoss.Sir I have been building tracks for 10 yrs traveling from state to state helping stores with this and it's 100% being on the money. So before Blaming it on something you know NOTHING about and causing OTHER tracks reading this a BAD IDEA.Please have knowledge in what you say before making comments on a PUBLIC board. Not going after you as a person but your Views on something you have NO knowledge in.Thats all so please understand Im not making this personal.Just simply your Uncrediable comment of PeatMoss on DirtTracks.
Les
TIDEWATER RACER 03-09-2003, 08:29 PM evidentlly you haave no idea what you are talking about jr i have seen first hand what it does along with 5 top notch gas racers like cris crews brian higgins and me willie so you need to get your facts straight be fore you post butt head.
willie lynch
TexRacer 03-09-2003, 08:36 PM Willie.Butthead is far from what I am.You might wanna have the guys check the DIRT.Cause I have built 30 or more tracks with PEATMOSS across the US.From the NORTH to the SOUTH,from EAST to the WEST.So im telling you that it's the DIRT and NOT THE PEATMOSS.
Les
So you 5 guys and this ONE track Experience knows more than someone thats been in Car Action ABOUT building tracks and has built over 30 tracks in DIFFERENT LOCATIONS?
This is what bothers me with your POST.Maybe YOU dont know what this could do to OTHER PEOPLE thinking of this NICE trick for keeping MOISTURE in their dirt.Notice I said to try this in a CERTAIN area.So before making comments with NOT enough evidence to BACKUP what your saying please REFRAIN from making comments like you did.Now coming in and saying ON OUR PERSONAL track this didnt work thats cool. But to BASH THE IDEA totally was NOT THE way to DO IT.
Les
TIDEWATER RACER 03-09-2003, 09:10 PM if am not mistaken this is a open forum so if you disagree with what i am saying thats fine. i called you a butt head because of the way you attacked what my son had posted ."sorry" we had been runnig on this dirt that you are referring to for the last three years with no engine losts due to dirt because believe it or not we do no how to oil an air filter, Now having said that if you think that peatmoss will not create a fine dust i would really like to know what type of dirt you aree using.
fytefire 03-09-2003, 10:53 PM i think we shpuld leave Stream just as it is....water it if needs it or maybe just sweep it.....the track is fine the way it is.....make a few changes and maybe make it a little bigger.....see everyone soon.....Matt
x Racer x 03-10-2003, 12:40 AM I just wanna throw dirt at Jady and Chad  ... or maybe add water and invite a few local strippers for a mud wrestling event?!
- Dave
RUSTYK 03-10-2003, 11:12 PM    It's true I saw it. It was big, round and yellow. They call it the sun. 3 days straight. If it's nice saturday maybe we could get a few cars to run and get the dust off the systems. You know the lap counter, make sure the refrigerator is full maybe even burn some hotdogs.
Rusty
Shonuff 03-11-2003, 08:14 AM i hope it can be run on sat. i will be in sandhills this weekend though, but that is okay, ryan and chad need the practice :jest:
burnt crispy
ps. we can finaly talk some smack about dirt. i HATE rain
TIDEWATER RACER 03-11-2003, 06:57 PM SWEET! stream....ahhhhh finially..whos down for sat? looks like i might get a chance to run off road at the best track ion the hampton roads area...then go the the best indoor carpet track in the area...can life get any better?
Bodido 03-12-2003, 09:03 AM That would be sooo nice to run on Saturday. But I really don't think the track will be dry enough at all. :( I'll try to be hopeful.
This weather is beating me down!!
My T3 is completely rebuilt and ready to run. I think for the first time since I've owned it, it's dusty from sitting on the shelf and not from the track..... That's just wrong!!!
NEED SUN..... Going crazy!! :freak:
The rumor mill is crazy around here. I hear things....
I hear Fisher Price has picked up one of our own!!
Put your helmets on in honor of our new sponsored guy!!!! HAHA.
I thought for sure he'd end up on Team LEGO, but Fisher Price just snuck in there, with the killer offer.
Congrats bro....
