Thursday nights are gonna be cool!! I need all the racing I can get, and I'm sure not gonna miss ANY off-road racing. This will make that allot easier. On road will always take a back seat to off road for me. I race TC and 1/12th to sharpen my off road skills (however limited they are).

All that said. Here's a bit of news some of you guys would be hearing sooner or later:

I'm currently unemployed. Not too happy about how or why it happened, but it did, regardless. I really liked the job I was doing, but didn't really care for whom I was doing the job. So, it's a mixed bag. I'll be better off in the long run, that I'm sure of. I've got a pretty good amount of experience in my field, and the credentials to back it up, so I'm not overly concerned with my long term future. I've got a couple promising leads, and some SEVERELY needed time off. Well.... Just got off the phone... Make that a few good leads! Haha.

As for the track.... I was intending to throw in some money for the work needed on the track. Currently, as you might guess, that would be bad idea. However, I do have allot of time and labor to donate. Due to this, now may be a great time to do the new layout.

What do you guys think? Particularly, What do you think, Rusty? I'd really like to see some input from everyone.

In addition, I was planning on throwing together a website for track info, pics, weekly results, etc... It's my understanding that Jlap can even output results in html (laptimes and all), so this would be really cool and not difficult to keep up to date. I have 20mb's of space on a very fast server with excellent bandwidth, so hosting is allready taken care of.

I may not be able to make it saturday for racing. I may just go down friday night and get so practice in around 6:30,7:00. Anybody up for that.

Bodido
01-16-2003, 12:55 AM
I'll be up for some practice Friday night, was planning on it anyway. I should be up there at 5:30 or so. I was up there tonight. Testing my new kydex nerf wings. They protect the rear wheels during wall "taps". I made them from an old BRP tc3 bumper. They mount to that tweak plate, right where the body posts and ballstuds are. They were real easy to make with a dremel and a heat gun. Tried a red cener shock spring. It's supposed to be like four rates stiffer than the included silver spring. My car seemed to have more of a push with it compared to two weeks ago!!?? Still scratching my head on that one. Is there that much more traction now? I was expecting more of a groove, but it seems like there is a TON more bite. Did anyone notice allot more traction forming last weekend? I'm fairly convinced the problem is in my car, though.

Got some good job leads in the last 10 hours, a number of people calling for my resume. So things are looking up. Just so you guys know.... I've planned for the possibility of losing my job, or just plain quitting. My business is a cut-throat one, no question, but I've known that quite a while and have prepared for it. I've got a bit of nest egg to lean back on, and will be payed full pay by my former employer beyond the end of the month. I've never been this prepared for something like this before. It makes me kinda feel old, haha. I'm in decent shape financially, so don't stress over me at all guys. Maybe I'll let somebody buy me a beer, just so somebody can feel like they're helping a brother out. :D

I plan on racing at Tidewater Saturday, but I was intending to run by Stream in the morning to take some measurements, brainstorm and such. I'll be trying to get an idea of how many sheets of plywood would be necessary to build the banking and sides of jumps. Maybe try to take a wild stab at how much dirt we need. Anyone willing to join me for this task? Early.... 8:30, 9 ish.

Did I hear someone say help a brother out?????????? I am always willing to help out a fellow brother. Chad I'll make it up to stream by nine saturday morning. Also if you dont come up on a decent opportunity, send me your resume. I'll get it out to some people I know. You are a CCNA right? Regardless, get me a copy of your resume.

Jady: Hard to see it in the snow when you got white whims?

I may or may not go at this point.... Totally depends on the weather. I'm not shoveling my street again, been there, done that. It sucked.

Dirty... Will get you that resume very soon. Trying to avoid straight network tech stuff if I can. I like dealing with operating system stuff (NT4/Win2k, small amount of Linux experience)and hardware allot more. Not quite as dry.... Router configs give me headaches. Thanks for looking out.

Tidewater opens at 9... Racing at noon! I imagine we'll be done fairly quick. We're running only touring and 1/12 at noon. Oval is at 6, so theoretically we'll be done before that.

I'm letting Josh do the initial testing of my milled to death TC3, it's got a number of tricks. I predict that he likes it, tq's and wins with it.

Keith and I ran a few packs tonight. Good fun. We were VERY close every lap. Should be good racing. I've practiced twice this week. I've tried a number of changes, only to find out that I like it best when it's set up like I had it the first day. Go figure.

Lastplace:

I'm a computer guy. I've done a pretty big range of things in the field. Most of my experience is in Microsofts operating systems. I'm an MCSE+I with NT4.0, but am much more experienced with Win2k at this point. Network admin stuff.... I've done allot of new installs of entire networks. From building and configuring servers to setting up desktop systems, and most things in between... Like running cat5 or fiber, setting up wiring racks, cabinets. The last few years I was solely responsile for all the hardware and operating systems of all of Colonial williamsburg's desktops, laptops, and laser printers (over 1300 users).
I'm also a CCNA which is Cisco's first level certification. I've never really worked with their routers in a live enviorment, and unfortunately have forgotten allot of that stuff since I never got to use it. I've got a number of hardware certifications with HP and Compaq.

I've also got a bunch of cooking experience, So if anyone knows of someone looking for a network admin that can saute up a mean chicken marsala, let me know.. :D

Just call me lucky!!!

Some punks just stole my wheels.... No, I'm not talking about some Jacos either.... They're the factory Integra GSR wheels with Kumho 205/50's. On top of that I stubbed the crap outta my toe chasing them. Err. I was looking for an excuse to score some white wims like Jady, but this isn't exactly the best time for it.

I know you guys don't really run in the import circles, but I'm looking for some young white punks in a dark 92-95 civic hatch. It's lowered, has aftermarket exhaust, black wheels, and the Virginia license plate begins with JBY, then 4 numbers. I wish I had more info, but old age has affected my eyesight and footspeed.

If anyone knows somebody that has some ties to our local underground import scene, please have them get in touch with me, or get in touch with them for me if they need to remain anonymous. Of course, if anyone hears of some 15" directional Acura Integra GSR wheels for sale, please call me. 599-5317 There will be a small reward for the recovery of my wheels. There will be a substantially larger reward for the guys who took them.

Dam Chad, you are really getting all the luck lately. Sounds like team RS is gona have to open up a can on somebody if we can find the little snot nose punks that did this. Maybe we should wait a while and set some bait and then , Sha-Shaw!!!! payback time.

chad i know some people they happen to be friends in the underground import race world let me ask if i can get a hold of him and see, but other wise i would be more then happy to open up a can with the rest of team rs knowing all the people that i know to back me up, its time to kick some little punks butt

outOcntrl
01-22-2003, 08:33 PM
Matt,
Gas offroad is a no-no at stream because you cant here in the shop when the nitros are runnin the track. Would be nice though. But that is the reason.

RUSTYK
01-22-2003, 10:01 PM
Never say never to nitro truck. I have a new customer who is into cars and lives acroos the street from the shop. Nitro can be loud and we have always had a concern about the neighbors across the street. I'm not saying we will but I'll explore it.
Racing season will soon start and I know All of you want to redo the track. We have the new layout drawn and it looks great. Front straight will be 10' longer and lots more jumps. Lots of air. If we could I would like to get as many drivers together and discuss our and your plans. This meeting is open to off road and on road drivers. On road will start in mid April. We will add 1/12 scale to on road. As always the goal at Stream Raceway is to have fun. Remember we value your input and always try to keep the drivers needs first. I will start lookig for new dirt this week something with more clay. I know its cold but if you want to run or test your car come on by. The coffee pot is always on.
