First Coast Hot Wheels Collector's Meeting. head at Mount Carmel Gardens, 5846 Mount Carmel Terrace.
We're very excited that our club has grown so much since we started back in 2000.* Our club is primarily geared for the Hot Wheels collector, but many of our members trade and collect a variety of cars from MB, JL, Ertl & many others. During our meetings we sell/trade cars and race for prizes! There's custom cars available to members too. We are very family oriented and take part in charity causes. Everyone is invited and is encouraged to bring a friend, and by all means, bring the family!* We are primarily an adult club, but children can also come and join as long as they are accompanied by an adult.* Visitors can attend two meetings for free and after that would have to be considered for membership. We meet the second Tuesday of every month at 6pm to discuss what we want to do as a club (charities, toy shows, etc.), then at 7pm the trading and racing begin!

If you would like more information regarding our club, it's meetings, or events please contact our club president.

4/23-27: Rosemont(Chicago).
8th Annual Hot Wheels Collectors Nationals. Hyatt Regency O Hare EVENT DETAILS:
If you haven't checked in for one of these gigantic collector events, this is a great place to start. The room-to-room selling and trading, open only to ticket holders, can't be beat for finding some great and rare Hot Wheels cars almost around the clock. Not only will there be an entire hotel full of open rooms with piles of Hot Wheels cars, but there will be a variety of awesome souvenir cars made especially for the show! And if you can't get enough cars with all the factory-produced pieces, you'll have to check out the drool-worthy customs which are entered by superb collector talents in the
++++++++++
Custom Car Contest!
Need a break from room-to-room car swapping? Stop by one of the multiple daily autograph sessions with legendary Hot Wheels designers Larry Wood, Phil Riehlman, Paul and Alec Tam, Mike McClone and Roman Cortez! This is a very rare appearance for Paul Tam, who will fly in all the way from South Africa to join the festivities. Eagle-eyed collectors might even catch a glimpse of other Mattel and HWC staff cruising the convention, as well.
You can also relax and pick up some tips and info at informative Seminars, such as the Mattel Designers Seminar, the New HWCâ„¢ Hot Wheels Collection Checklist Overview, Custom Car Seminar, Redlines Collecting Seminar and more!
++++++++++
Bring the kids, too. There will be Downhill Racing, Sizzlers Racing, and other kids’ activities, such as a scavenger hunt and a coloring contest. The fun is for the whole family -- and yes, dads can race, too.
++++++++++
You can expect even more very special events, of course. Nationals ticket holders will have access to the following:
++++++++++
Red Line Club Party - Mattel-hosted event, but you must also be a member of the online Red Line Clubâ„¢ to be admitted. The exclusive party cars from these gatherings are legendary. Plus door prizes -- try not to leave without one!
Annual Charity Auction - Not only is there always great stuff to bid on, but your purchase is for a worthy cause -- it benefits the Children's Miracle Network.
+++++++++
Saturday Night Finale - Make sure you bring your Nationals ticket to receive the free Hot Wheels Convention Finale souvenir car -- it's limited to no more than 2,000 pieces, so don't forget yours! There are still more special events available for paid ticket holders! Each of these events require additional specific ticket purchases in advance (details can be found in your confirmation packet):
++++++++
An Evening with Paul and Alec Tam" Dinner - Celebrate the Hot Wheels® contributions of father and son at the dinner on Thursday evening, April 24! For $120.00, guests will receive a souvenir dinner car (produced by Mattel and limited to no more than 2,000 pieces), a T-shirt, a pin, and at least one custom car.
++++++++
HWC Vending Machine - Have a pull at this magnificent mystery machine -- you never know what you’re going to get! Tickets, only sold in pairs, are $20.00 (limit of one pair per paid ticket).
+++++++
Charity Button Bingo - Fun for the family, for a good cause, and each participant receives three different custom cars, plus the winner of each game receives a matching, gold-colored custom car, and some games may even have bonus prizes! For $200.00, it sounds like everyone's a winner.
+++++++
Charity Poker Tournament - Is it high-stakes poker? Your entry fee of $100.00 benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation. All participants will receive a custom car, each table winner will receive one of the same custom cars as the Button Bingo game winners, and for the table winners playoff, the last two players will win another custom car! When it comes down to the final winner, there's a juicy prize donated by Mattel!
+++++++
Charity Raffle - You can't win if you don't play. You can only buy tickets for this at the convention, and it's for a great cause.
++++++++
Finally, there will be vendors selling items in the Dealer Room on Sunday morning, and ticket holders for the Nationals can purchase table space for $50.00. This show is open to the public, so be prepared to sell to a crowd. ++++++
NOTE: Tickets for the Convention are $70.00 each ($75 if purchased
online) and good for all five days. You may purchase tickets online or by mail. (Tickets are not sold at the door.) Ticket sales will end April 2 or when the last ticket is sold, whichever occurs first. WEB- www.hwcollectorsnationals.com/

Hey guys. I have not been hyping up the upcoming CARnival and I apologize. I hope that you don't mind that I posted in this thread. This is our first meet and I hope to make this an annual event!I have been very busy and have not been able to sit down and write up any promos so here are some of the things that you can expect at the CARnival as far as activities...

The one of a kind CARnival Demo Derby Racing!
I just wrapped up building the Demo derby track on Sunday for the most part. Here are the psecs:
It is basically one track that is 4 cars wide.
The drop is 42" at 4' long and then there is 16' of flat racing.
For the most part it is total chaos on the way down but it is a blast to watch! At the end of the track there is a funnel built into the 1 lane that narrows down to 1 lane. The car that passes that point first or the car that goes the farthest wins that race.
You can run anything down the track. We will probably have a truck/van class and some other specialty classes plus there will be a class for custom s or"banger racers". That is Swifty's specialty.
We encourage you to create a custom Banger Racer of your own! We will probably have a prize for best banger racer!
There is an entire section at the Garage dedicated to banger racing if you need to know what that is.

So, as far as what you can race down the track, you can run anything that you want within the class that is racing as long as you don't mind it getting banged up! (1:64 scale only ;) )

Gravity Racing!
The main gravity track will be built soon. I am combining a couple of different elements to this track. I will build a solid track with a 4" drop that runs 6' that transitions into a 18' straightaway. I bought a 50' roll of HW track that will be then laid down on the solid structure to give a nice smooth surface for the entire race. The start and finish line will be from an Expert Racers track if you kow what that is but the starting end will be modified. The ER start was like a drag race where each competitor started their own race when the tree hit green. The starting gates are horrible on those sets. I am doing a couple mods to the electronics. First, I am wiring it so that as soon as the light goes green, the gates will drop. I am also changing the gates motors to one solenoid so that they are more reliable. The sweet thing about the ER set is that not only does the finish line display the winner, there is a built in timer that display the race time for both lanes. With hardwiring the start to go at exactly the same time, we will be able to track the fastest car since there will be no human error.
We plan to run a custom class race, a factoy sealed race where contestants must open their car the moment it is their turn to run the first race and then some traditional races will be had as well. I had planned to allow open racing for anybody that wished to race the entire day and then at certain times of the day the contests would start.

Another CARnival exclusive.....DIECAST SHUFFLEBOARD!!!
The shuffle board is a game that I came up with on my own. We will be using a real longboard table and we got some cars donated to us to use as the pucks. They are Fast and the Furious Ertel cars I think. The models may change but each person will get a set of 4 of the exact same car and will compete against another player with a different car. It should be a blast! We had a good time when we tested it out.
This event will be going on from 6:00 pm until we decide to call it quits. This event is at the evening portion of the CARnival that is held at the Reamstown Athletic Association. It is a bar with a convention hall kind of like a VFW club or something. We will be in the convention hall and minors are allowed in the club up until a certain time (10:00 pm I believe) as long as they do not venture to the bar.

Well, that is the scoop for now. I will post some pics of the demo derby track in it's raw form when I get a chance to set it back up. It should be primed and painted by the time the CARnival rolls around.

Oh, and by the way, the event is free to attend!

(On a side note, we are printing a brochure at my work for a Morpheys ToyAuction. Man, there are some crazy toys that go for INSANE money!!!)
