A game I've been playing is to come up with an affordable pc to stick next to the hdtv to drive streaming video as well as double as a blu-ray player.

I've come up with this configuration.

As it's not for gaming it has no discrete video card, but the mainboard boasts HDMI video and toslink audio connections.

fast processor, 2gb ram, and a blu-ray optical drive.

Don't care about a tuner card, I have a DVR from comcast. Just want to be able to stream videos from netflix and others over the big screen. The blu-ray player is a bonus. All for less than $800.00

Opinions?

What's so special about $42 worth of crappy RAM?

You can get Corsair XMS2 CL5 DDR2-800 2GB Dual Channel Kit on Newegg for $28...

LMFAO! E6750 and all that on a 250W? C2D's are energy efficient, but they have a limit you know...

yup 85watts when they're cranked up.

I'm not building a gaming system.

(you might note that Dells ship with 250w these days unless you're buying their high end machines).

But thanks for your input.

If you play the rebate game. Otherwise it's $53 for 800 Mhz memory (only 667 of which can be utilized on a 1333 fsb machine.)

Please entertain me with your combination of components. Goal is to build a blu-ray player with HDMI and toslink output.
