MasterD 03-16-2008, 12:45 AM Tri-State Hobbies & Raceway is proud to present our R.O.C. (Rookie Oval Class) points series. We have decided to run a points series for all of the rookies out there. Here are the class rules
1. Must be a rookie to making left turns, or you've been out of the racing scene so long you've forgotten how to turn left.......lol
2. Any 1/10 scale pan car Chassis is allowed
3. Must run spec motor
4. Must run spec battery
5. Must run spec tires
6. You can use ANY oval body you choose ( ORT, Toyota camry, Dodge Charger, Monty Carlo....etc) but the body has to be closed and the spoiler has to be 3/4" or less
7. Total weight (with body and transponder) must be at least 2 lbs 6 ozs.
8. Ride height no lower that 4mm
I want to put these up here so everyone knows what we will be teching for when we start the point series.
Our points series will start the third Saturday in March ( March 15th, 2008) and will run for 10 weeks ending the third Saturday in May (May 17th, 2008). You will be allowed two(2) throw outs in this series as we will total your best 8 runs. Points will be given as follows:
First place A-Main = 100 points
2nd Place = 98 points
3rd place = 96 points
4th place = 94 points
5th place = 92 points
6th place = 90 points
7th place = 88 points
and so on down the line decreasing by two(2) points for each place.
We will have one(1) "bump up" allowing the winner of the B-Main to run in the A-Main at the back of the pack. This would make the driver who places 2nd in the B-Main, the winner of the B-Main, which awards 1 extra point in addition to his placing points. Top Qualifier (TQ) is also awarded 1 extra point in addition to his placing points. The A-Main will be cut at six (6) drivers allowing driver number 7 to the "bump up".
On the last race day ( May 17th, 2008) all of the points will be doubled as it will be the final race of the series.
Entry Fee for the series will be a one time fee of $20.00 which will go towards prizes and trophies.
The definates i have so far are as follows:
Brad "King" Mullins
Jacob "Bullit" Mullins
Eric Loquillano
Lonnie Stinson
Jay Helson
Fred "Turbo" Thoen
Mike Linkmeyer
Ronnie Hilton
Chip Tague
Darren " Master D" Whiting
So fellow knights of the "oval" table....please let me know who will be attending and I will update the list. Any thoughts or comments feel free to let me know. Untill then....go fast......turn left!

MasterD 03-16-2008, 01:06 AM After our first night of racing in the points series we saw some really great racing! Looking back to the past, I am can barely see where we started from, but we have come along way. Points earned tonight are as follows.....
Master D = 101 pts (TQ and 1st place)
King = 96 pts (3rd place)
Chip = 94 pts (4th place)
Bullit = 92 pts (5th place)
Turbo = 89 pts (7th place and winner of the B-main)
Eric L. = 86 (8th place)
Mary = 82 pts (10th place)
Mike Linkmeyer = 80 pts (11th place)
alot of us are showing leaps and bounds at becoming better drivers around the track and it showed by how close the racing was tonight. Just as an insight to all of us, while talking to customers tonight as they watched our three heats run, quite a few people made comments on how well we were doing. They were shocked to know that most of us have only been running in a circle for a few weeks. They felt that we looked alot more experienced than we were. I feel we all deserve a handshake and high-five for doing as well as we did tonight:thumbsup:. Sometimes a spectators viewpoint puts things into perspective for all of us. So fellow drivers let's keep up the good work and most of all, KEEP HAVING FUN!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Only a few more days till we get to do it again. King, I know your counting the days...... Bullit, I know your counting the hours......lol:thumbsup::thumbsup:

amainiac 03-16-2008, 11:24 AM Great job last night  It was really fun watching all the excitement in the pits and on the racetrack. You guys are doing an awesome job.

BoneSpec 03-18-2008, 03:14 AM Thanks Roger!
Here is also some good reading.......

BTW, didn't anyone notice I didn't do any gymnastics (barrel rolls) Saturday night?
Thanks to Foister! He helped me and Darren, both our cars drove great! The wheelmen need some tuning though!
I'll say this, ROC class is exactly like I'd hope it would be. Before I bought my Legends car John hinted at a SOC/ROC class using a Spec chassis, the one Mary is driving now. At some point I suggested to allow open chassis/gearing, but keep spec motor/batts/tires.
Perfect combo!!!!!
EricL 03-19-2008, 03:32 AM Thanks Roger!

Dude! did you happen to find the 'barrel roll' springs that we accidentally put underneath your chassis??? ok, ok,, maybe not accidentally! I paid good money for them things!!! ok, ok,.... I meant 'we'! It was a group effort!!! lol. Guess I'll have to figure something else to slooooow you down so the competition can smoke ya!:woohoo:
lol:wave:
BoneSpec 03-19-2008, 04:42 AM Let me borrow that motor Fred used........holy crap!
even though the class is ROC, we need a veteran to kick our butts at times, just to show what our cars CAN do. Between the ROC normal drivers, it has been close, no single person has put it all togther and start running away from the field.
Might have to whoop D's butt to get the oval set up sooner, or volunteer to help on Thursday night after races to change the track over :)
In that article it mentions 10.5 oz LR weight, I was at 9.5 oz LR weight Saturday, well when I started. With the heavier NiMH and 4 cell, 10.5-11 oz might be perfect.
2 oz. heavier on the LF as compared to the RF like John said.

Sorry, tryin not to get too dang cocky at the begginin...
(sigh) is it Saturday yet...JK
BoneSpec 03-23-2008, 11:14 PM If you keep it off the walls and not stuffed under the corners, you might go faster :)
EricL 03-23-2008, 11:25 PM all I know is....Brad was fast! wicked fast....
50 laps!!! how the H---!
BoneSpec 03-24-2008, 01:25 AM he was still running 4.8-4.9 laps at the end!
EricL 03-24-2008, 06:27 PM Biggin69, what all do you need to fix your pan???

After lookin at the race results....I wasn't that bad myself(still gloatin after that magical night):woohoo:
EricL 03-26-2008, 06:53 AM In all reality, I don't have to be fast.... I just have to be faster than you:thumbsup:
BoneSpec 03-26-2008, 07:44 AM you have to be alot faster than me. My barrel rolls normally don't require a marshal, unlike your "stuffing it" at least once a race :)

I stuffed it twice in the A main last week....and still one!:D
BoneSpec 03-27-2008, 04:36 AM You didn't any fight when I took my lap back. I'll be down early Friday to put the chassis back right, whoever is working might need help setting the Oval up. I expect Fred to make a good showing this week.

Wasn't worried about givin you your lap back....cause the race was almost over! I was takin it easy... no need to fight when you've already lapped a loosin' car!!!
GAME OVER MAN!!! GAME OVER!lmao
yes...the trash tawkin starts:woohoo:JK
KING, BULLIT: I expect that the hackin incident between you to will not repeat itself. I think it will be between you three will be the ones to beat( King, Bullit & Chip (barrel roller) Tague)!
BoneSpec 03-27-2008, 06:39 AM Thats it, breaking out the 42 tooth and gonna put a green #18 up your tailpipe!
wacko 03-27-2008, 01:43 PM Man you boys and girl are in for it saturday.... Even with a win in the A, Eric did not rest and went to work on his car last night. He found some major issues and fixed that front end pretty nicelly!!! LOOK OUT he may not even need to bump-up this week

BoneSpec 04-06-2008, 02:07 AM Brad "King" Mullins with his TQ and win tonight is now the points leader over me my two points.
Eric got the biggest air award, as I drove under him after his crash.
Great night of racing, Our second qualifier the was only one pass, and it was right at the end when I passed Eric.
Who I tailed nicely in the A Main until he got into trouble......Eric got the biggest air award, as I drove under him after his crash.

Frosty, I hope your doin ok with it! Dont hesitate to ask anybody. For me, it's more fun to race alot of people. The more... the merry...er!
Bullit-- scoot over dude....I'm comin thru!!!
Rubbin's racin' but head on collisions! That's a different story!
BoneSpec 04-07-2008, 03:10 PM Eric, how did that wall taste?
After following you closely for a few laps I waited until you bobbled and took the position. We touched, you rubbed the wall.....must have rattled you because......
........then the mayhem started!!!!!!!
I wish we could get video of the races. Somehow a small camera mounted up on the turn 1-2 wall.....could also be used as a security camera at night.
Now if we can just figure out a way to slow the King down.
4.609 lap????? WHAT?????
EricL 04-08-2008, 06:42 AM Now if we can just figure out a way to slow the King down.

I think I'll let some air out of his tires!!!...
Ya know, I still don't know his secrets!!!
amainiac 04-08-2008, 10:33 AM You guys thought I was smokin' crack when (early on) I was saying 3.5xx. Well, watch out boys...I don't know who gave King his name but it fits! :woohoo:
Great job to all of you. The ROC is really fun to watch progress week after week. 4 weeks in and 4 different winners. Now thats what I call racing.
wacko 04-08-2008, 12:20 PM Roger we did not say you were smoking crack because you said someone was going to turn a 3.5x lap, it was because you said you were going to run 3.5 mod...lol
BradMullins 04-08-2008, 06:23 PM Listen Guys, I could not have turned 4.6 lap without the support of the local pros.....thank you.. Monti, Joe, Roger, John....all of you have given techincal advice that equals speed.
Right now I'm in Kalamazoo Mi on business, I just left one of the local hobby shop/race tracks. The track was the same size as TSH but not as nice. The pit areas where bad.
People we have a first class facility at TriState! Please continue to support it by purchasing products/parts from TSH as you need them.
John & Roger thank you!
P.S. Indoor Oval in Kalamazoo died out three years ago, we need to keep it alive in our area....:)
-Brad
BoneSpec 04-09-2008, 06:36 AM I know WE (John and I) had it nice at Hi-Tech in Loveland 15+ years ago, I noticed the same thing first trip to TSH. I mean it is bad that the apartments I've been looking at NEED to be closer to TSH :)
HONESTLY for me (maybe why John suckered me in!) I'm having as much if not more fun that I did YEARS ago. I won't let go this time :)
Oh yeah, Spec Batts, I lost a good one :(
http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?p=2345692#post2345692
PS: To the crowd NORTH of the Mullins and me, bite your tongues. I won't name names yet (DREW!) and others, this IS a family place, not a bar. I've been known to cuss like a sailor, but NOT AT THE TRACK!
Slip of the tongue will happen, but some people just have no respect for others.
-Chip/Bone
BradMullins 04-09-2008, 09:07 AM Chip,
Sorry about your battery pack. Your charger is different than mine so it is a bit like Greek to me.
I agree with you about the language, blurting four letters words public is ridiculous enough. The twisted innuendos that were spoken will have the same negative impact on children. People always under estimate the intelligence of children.
amainiac 04-09-2008, 02:57 PM Roger we did not say you were smoking crack because you said someone was going to turn a 3.5x lap, it was because you said you were going to run 3.5 mod...lol
If I continue to run 3.5 I may turn to crack:freak:. Its easier to run the Jato outside at 65mph.

Brad...Thanks for the kind words.
EricL 04-13-2008, 01:04 AM Tonight was some fine racing among friends! With the new racers in line, we had some magifacent moves in the A mains...as well as the B mains
I watched Chip tally up the numbers for the points race tonight...and it looks like Chip is slowly creepin up on the "King". ok myabe not creepin up...My be King is slowly leaving the pack! I broke away from "drillbit" (who seems to be having some motor issues) and have a 8 point lead for 3rd in points. Lookout King! Here I come....I've just about got your speed! Now if I could just hold onto my lines!!! Bullits in 4th, I believe Turbo is in 5th(movin up in the world with the extra point for winning the B main and bumpin up to the A( I'm glad he didn't beat me with my own dang body...again!)( WTG Fred) with Mary nippin at his heals in
6th spot! Kinda proud of her screamin with some 4.7's and 4.8's! WTG Mary! And the Rupuert Gang is sneakin up on us. :dude:
