BoneSpec 11-19-2008, 05:38 AM Shocks rebuilt, front springs redone, new foams, hit or miss kinda of deal.
Last time it was a hit........look at my "charge" to the front the last 1/2 of the first points series.
Can I do it again or will I have screwed it all up like Eric????
Heck I even rebuilt the diff for the first time since the midpoint of last points series.
Either be fast or do a nice traction roll :)

BoneSpec 11-22-2008, 01:38 AM EricL, Ludicrous speed was obtained tonight. Car was so fast the right shock exploded.
Turned a few low 4.6's on a old Spec pack, 4.47 on the 3300's, still turning 4.7's after 5:45, then I changed the motor and battery. Best I could get was a 4.400 since the car wouldn't turn at the insane speeds I wqs running. Imagine monti running without a wing and the nose of the body about 1/2" in the air.
It was comical......until the shock explode. The car snap rolled in turn three and flew thru the air until it hit the outside wall.
8.3v Lipo, 24/96 gearing, unknown motor, likely a 19T single. othing like hitting the throttle and the car dog tracking down the straightaway spinning the rear tires.
Oh well, gotta try the extra speed sometime :)
EricL 11-22-2008, 08:05 AM only thing I turned was a few new tires and armetures. Rebuilt the front end
Retightened the screws...
EricL 11-23-2008, 01:56 AM points have been uploaded and posted!

BoneSpec 11-23-2008, 03:06 AM OK, so I didn't get a message Eric had posted this.......danged forum!
New lap record, as set in the Main tonight, 4.540......
I got tangled with Eric, which broke a body post.....which later caused me to tangle with Art who was giving me room to pass and still ran a 50 in 4:03.xxx I believe. I finished in the 4.8's with a few 4.9's...hauling I say!!!!!
I also TQ's in Legends with my first 39 laps run in 4 minutes. Sam, Thad and me both had 39's in the third qualifier.....it was quite boring....I never broke out tonight but Thad has the upperhand. In the Main for Legends I forgot to clean the RF (I can here Brad chuckle) and ended up traction rolling in turn two, Thad took a free cheap shot (his words) and walked away with the Main win. Congrats Thad!!!!
So much wrong with my car setup wise, but it is working. 6.5-7mm clearance all around the chassis edge, the body is so cracked and beaten I had to add a 5th body post to support the nose, which is about 1/2" off the track surface.
2.22" avg rear tire diameter for the Main, stuck to my 2.75" rollout and went 38/96 gearing. I need to recheck my mental notes to make sure all those numbers are correct.
Also, the Mini-T's were back out tonight, I love watching those race......but don't think I wanna invest in another class :)
Don't forgot Toys for Tots race December 13th, double points (right Eric?) $25 entry fee or $5 off with a toy donation. $10 of the entry fee, or $5 plus toy is being donated to Toys for Tots. With todays recent economy downturn alot of familys are struggling. I know, I've been there myself three years ago. I believe quite a few sponsers have donated door prizes for the cause, come out and HAVE FUN!
PS: LUCK was on my side tonight for missing most of the wrecks, Bullit knows what I mean :)

Eric, your .doc file show both 12/13 and 12/20 as double points events........I think it's only 12/13 right?????
I know we are all tired tonight.
Oh yes, Happy Thanksgiving, enjoy time with your familes!
Next week is a no points event, come out even if your "stuffed" into the wall.
BoneSpec 11-23-2008, 03:28 AM Mental notes.........
After Erics notsofun night he did uncork a 4.57 lap in the third qualifier.....keep working and quit talking :)

BoneSpec 11-24-2008, 05:52 AM Like a rocket sled on rails...........
my times from Saturday night
50 laps in 4:03.663
Lap 3 - 4.54 new fast lap record.
Lap 7 thru Lap 16 all 4.6's, except lap 14.
Lap 26, 28, 60 were all high 4.6's
Lap 42 was a 4.799 which in it's own right is a decent lap
Lap 49 was a 4.849
Weight was 2lb, 6.15 ounces, battery pack Y, motor was .270 test comm. cut. Rollout was my typical 2.75, to me the track just came around for the 3rd Qual. and the Main.
Of the three Legends, me, Sam, and Thad
1) me 39/4:02.057
2) Sam 39 4:04.334
3) Thad 4:05.875 with one breakout I believe.
I had just as much fun with Legends cars as I did in ROC. Even with Sam "crowding" me in the main to the inside rail. Looked liked it was gonna be a Waltrip/Earnhart @ Richmond incident, but it didn't happen.
EricL 11-24-2008, 06:11 AM heh, sorry about not writing anything up for saturday...I kinda just wanted to forget everything that happened...my bad.
Eric L.
Chip WTG on beatin ur fast lap! I'm wrenchin hard on my machine now!
tgardner41 11-24-2008, 06:26 PM I also TQ's in Legends with my first 39 laps run in 4 minutes. Sam, Thad and me both had 39's in the third qualifier.....it was quite boring....I never broke out tonight but Thad has the upperhand. Congrats Thad!!!!:)
You guys put on a great Legend class, lots of fun. Break-out racing is a lot like a chess match. In the Main, had Chip "in check" drafting him for the first 15 laps, waiting. When he suddenly tipped over, it was "checkmate and wham!" couldn't resist! (cost me half a second tho). Now you'll hafta' breakout to catch me- almost all 6.0's, 6.1's out the back, bumping the throttle epa up four or five different times, just missing your track record again...
My first brushless pan A-Main win ever, especially having it happen at Tri-State was fun too. Would like to thank Gabby and Jim C. for the parts and setup help- hard to believe something like an extra 0.020 shim under a t-plate can make one of these little pricks pick up two laps or so. And thanks to Eli for the moral support.
:dude:
BoneSpec 11-24-2008, 06:34 PM I don't have the track record in Legends, that belongs to Jay H.
I don't have an easy way to adjust the throttle during the run, I just run wide in the beginning and tighten the line down, Helps when Eli was calling our lap times out :)
EricL 11-24-2008, 10:07 PM well, I've gone and done it...I've replaced my front king pins...but I'm worried that I installed them wrong. Chip your pics were...not quite clear as to where some of the shims go...but thanks anyway.
Eric L
BoneSpec 11-27-2008, 12:44 AM steering block gets a shim on either side.
When you gonna be at the track? Not sure if I'm racing this weekend, but I can lend a hand setting up the long kingpins as I was told by John and Roger.
Drag your boss out racing........and peanut Mary :)

BoneSpec 11-28-2008, 07:53 AM change of plans.........I won't be racing this weekend.
NON points so no big deal, but I have to work on my sons car. I forgot he is off today and I'm supposed to work on his car in Kenwood area (dang malls) before starting my work route.
Eric, you have my phone number? I can stop by tonight after work if John hangs around to check your kingpin setup, then again if john is still there he might offer some knowledge.
BTW, my tweak board setup is in my pit if you need it. I think you know the basics of leveling it before starting. I use 9.75-10.0 oz. on the LR for my car.
EricL 11-28-2008, 08:03 AM Chip...PM ur number to me
Eric L
Bullit 11-28-2008, 06:31 PM Me and king will get to da track one day. Spent all day building kings new 1/18 car and we hopefully will get there before its saturday.
EricL 11-29-2008, 12:14 AM Well, well well...
better late than never (Ronnie) finally decided to show up for practice. turned some decent laps(not the greatest due to track conditions) with his 17.5 pan car.
Decided he was done chargin a pack of 4200's and peaked em. took them off the charger for about 3-4 minutes when all of a sudden he thought he heard them start to vent...in a funny way...Startin to Panic, he he picked them up off of his pit...was lookin for a wide open spot to get rid of them....cause...deep down inside...Ronnie new one was about to let go on him. Just as he tossed them to the side and a split second after he released them Bang! the cap went one way and ...what was left of the cell...went the other way under the curtain and rested just under the driver stand ...on top of a left over roll of carpet.
20 seconds later... we started smellin something....omg....Fire!!! yes...the carpet caught on fire...that which was under the driverstand! To my swift action....I quickly started to stomp the fire out!
boy, Ronnie...when you go out with a Bang...lol
Eric L
P.S....Ronnie...you ok:freak:? lmao

Eric L
BoneSpec 11-29-2008, 11:38 AM yawn........the fires below have froze over.....Eric's yelling awoke the beast, I'm awake before noon.
Thus he shall pay!
EricL 11-30-2008, 11:47 AM good turn out for a non-points session! WTG Chuck for showin us what our cars are capable of doing! the Bar has been set!
Chuck Pfhaler had 51 laps at a time of 4:00.457 Fast Lap 4.520
of course he ran consistant 4.6's and 4.7's
put a little egg on our faces!
that's what I call consistancy!
Of course now some of us are no longer Rookies...so we may have to step up to the next level...or stay in Spec and just call it Brushed Spec Racing( all rules still apply).
there will be ROC Spec for all the new upcomers wanting to learn to race However.
this is a matter of my own opinion.
Please, by all means...if you agree or disagree....let me know!
Out of the first orginal pack of us that started this thing...there are only 4 or 5 of us left outta that group...however, we have gained newer racers since then.
I would, however, would like help in setting the Spec Rules for the up and coming class.
so...we need to decide...do we stick with spec brushed motors? or what?
Where do we need to go from here?
Eric L
samgkd 11-30-2008, 02:05 PM A class that has seen a lot of growth accross the country is Novak 21.5/SMC3200 Lipo. The BRL series already has a set of rules. The fact that some racers are using only one motor/battery all season sure seems appealing.
Sam

Sam
hmmmm...maybe ideal...what's the speed like I wonder compared to 17.5
Bullit 11-30-2008, 03:18 PM Yeah, i agree with sam. Me and king both are getting tired of the spec motors and batts because all of our batteries went out the door and everytime that we cycle them they just get wourse. Chuck said something about a 21.5 brushless speedo/motor kit and a orion lipo pack spec kit that costs about $200 and ya only need one battery. This combo runs at 4.2 lap times and that would be perfect for learning the faster lap times.
EricL 11-30-2008, 03:19 PM all those in favor...say... eye
Bullit 11-30-2008, 03:20 PM ohhhhh!!!!!! IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EricL 11-30-2008, 03:22 PM Kid K...
I see ya eyeballin the site...
can you help us in figurin what we need to look at as far as rules for this sorta racin'?
Eric L
PM me if you must.
I'd like to set up some ground rules for this racing!
EricL 11-30-2008, 03:25 PM wondering how we could apply this to spec racing...
novak 21.5 brushless motor
2400 lipo or 3200 lipo
BSR Spec tires
Nascar closed rear end bodies
did I miss anything?
Bullit 11-30-2008, 03:27 PM Once we figure out the best gear ratio for speed and battery life i think we should have a rollout rule like in legends, you gear up for smaller tires, down for bigger ones.
I think your good eric!
