Sean, anything like a 10L4 roller for BRL?

The chassis setup that mounts the ESC by the LR, well it is a road block for us ROS guys to got brushless.

Also any spares for old RC10L/RC10L3????

I'm wanting to recreate my Hi-Tech chassis, just to see if I can get it up to speed. MAYBE make it a ROC car and convert current 10L3 to brushless?

ALOT depends on talking with John and how long he is committed for. Hopefully we can carry him and keep the track going.

2008 Fall ROC Points Race
what a night!

8 drivers in the race! Thanks goes to Sam Robinson, Art Graham, Terry rupert, Rob Bryant, Bullit, King, Dalton Myers, and....me. we had a heck of a ride.

Around 2pm bullit and King got onto the track for a little practice time. First time since last season on the track and bullit and King were pulling 4.7's outta there hats!!!

Bullits car was really hookin' at the Top 20 mark...he was averagin 4.8's
his car had massive speed in it.

around 4pm...Jacob put it back on the track for another 44 laps....and averaged 4.695 at the Top 20 average. An unofficial record was broken as he pulled off a 4.577 fast lap! Unbelievable!
Bullit broke records...first his dad's record from last year. puttin up a TQ of 50 laps with a Race time of 4:00.866 with a Fast Lap of 4.602. In the A main he broke his own Fast Lap record and put a 4.600 fast lap on the board ...in Traffic! Once the race started....Bullit never looked back! and maintained the lead through out the race! Nice job Bullit! One more thing....He passed inspection!
Dalton made a name for himself....although I don't know what it is! His first time in a Oval car he found the 4.8 marksHe qualified for 4th in the A Main.
he ended up with a 3rd place finish! WTG!

Art and Sam Qualified in the B Main and ended up bumping up to the A main. finishing off was Art in 5th and Sam in 6th.

Finishing order:

1 Jacob Bullit Mullins # 7 -- 155 points
2 Eric L # 11-- 147
3 Dalton Myers # 71d -- 144
4 Art Graham #71a -- 144
5 Brad King Mullins #27 -- 138
6 Sam Robinson #6 -- 137
7 Rob Bryant #72 -- 134
8 Terry Rupert #9 -- 132

OK CHIP...I have not had time to clean anything up...But JUST as PROOF KENWOOD Throws Nothing away.... I figured you would get a kick out of this

Kenwood Circa 1990 Associated RC10L with composite craft LTO chassis, Hollow titanium axle(LOL), CHEETAH FRONT END... I have all the parts and multiple chassis... Its even rocking TRC BBS rims out back and the later TRC Hole rims...LOL

And pic#2 Kenwood circa 1991 Composite Craft TRC lynx.. With my machined and pinned front end...Because I wasnt paying TRC $30 FOR A SPLIT CASTOR FRONT END...

I have a box of wimpy stock motors, tires, Batteries..AND SOMETHING I KNOW YOU ROCKED BACK THEN...A set of PARMA PINK RIMS...LMFAO.. funny part is the batts still look fine and take a charge...I wish my POFS 4200s from last year could do the same..

to continue the write up of the race on Saturday....

Thought I'd write more about the race on Saturday night.

Terry didn't do as well as he did last week as he found his go kart driver a couple of times in the wrong corners. Sorry Rob, had to say it.

I thinki he ended up breaking his car eventually in the B main. Rob is starting to get a little better in the fact that he is tightening up the cornses more and staying in the groove on the track.

Art...What can I say about Art...He ran a COT body from ...I believe it was from Custom Works.( spec rules indicate that we dont have wings I think....but I believe that it wont hurt....as long as I finish ahead of him)...

Dalton, need to put tape on the back end of your body to the bumper line.!!!

bullit....slow down!!!

King Speed up....a little bit!

Me... I need to work on my car. and Radio(sigh) broke a spring on the inside of the steering wheel!

SAm....wasn't as strong as he was last week. But however, I expect him to fight to stay in the A main!

I want to say special thanks to John for keeping the track open.

Also Thanks to all of those who support the track to help keep it open!

thanks to BSR for the awesome tires!

AE for building such a great economical pan chassis ( please build another one to upgrade the L4)

Thanks to John Zubak for the great products!

Thanks to IRS for the hop ups
Thanks to Wolfe for the rest of the hop ups!

The concenus I got was the COT body "sucked" even with the wing. I'd asked about running one and all the "national champions" at the track said NO!!!!

But what do they now?????

Now if I only had a L4 chassis to run brushless, maybe 15-20 radials to run outdoors.....some spare bodies........I just might have to do it!!!!!

EricL
10-15-2008, 05:26 AM
well, as it stands... we are suppose to be running the Spoiler bodies... but if you want to run the COT bodies...be my guest cause from where I was seeing...Cot bodies wasn't passing me!
So... the more people who wanna run the COT bodies, the better my chances of winning! Bullit, I'm preparing for ya! I got some sieze in a can for your bearings, lol! That oughta give you a little drag!

Or I can whip out the 27 turn stock motor with 3300's

4.4's are easy :)

Have fun though, I can't be there (SORRY JOHN!) due to fact a buddy is shipping out for basic training.

Although I have something coming in the mail for BRL setup.......

PHEW! What a day
7:30: Got my butt out of bed
8:30: On the road.
9:00: Got to the track only to realize that there was a ton of of BRL racers ALRIGHT, THE PLACE WAS BOOMING! What a turnout Plus, we beat Eric there:confused: that never happens!
9:30: Try to set up my new Futaba 3pks radio, but to many fast dudes on the track that i give up and just use my old 3PM.
10:00: car setup is a wreck! Track was exremly sticky!
12:00: I go to Doug Brock for help and with some more left rear weight and other speed secrets. Thanks Doug!
1:00: Cut the com and break in the motor. I don't know the moron(myself) who cut the com before, he sure did a lazy job:rolleyes:
2:00: 1st qualifyer, track changes again! I really scrubbed speed through corners
2:45: Back to Doug!
3:30: 2nd Qualifyer, Im start'n to get there.
5:00: 3rd Qualifyer, last run i will probably ever have on my 3PM it went kaplooey! turn left, go left:thumbsup: turn right, still go left:confused: whatever!
5:30: Back to the New 3PK, good thing i got it, otherwise I wouldn't have had a radio to run in the main. I did get it set up thanks to my trusty manual and some help from Ronnie.
6:00: Mains start!
6:30:King forgot to charge his battery and Eric's charger shorted out:(, still works though! A Main starts. Had a bad start because i forgot to hold the throttle of all things:rolleyes: Shot out to the lead 1/4 through the race, with Doug Brock Closing behind me, AHHHH!
3/4 through the main Me and Doug tangle but i get right back to the race now in second place, right behind an outsider of Tri-state! I finish that way.
8:00: Leave to go home, only 11 hours since we got there.
What a day, well till next week!:woohoo:

EricL

WTG! Bullit!!! qualified 4th and placed 2nd in the A main.

I've got my homework to do on these points.... boy what a mess! Unfortunately only 4 people there for the points race! Come on folks!

However, we had a great turn out for the races.

8 races for the A and B main.

check this out....we had:
13 racers for 10.5
9 racers for 13.5
9 racers for ROC Spec
4 turned out for 6.0 Brakeout Legends, but only
3 racers for 17.5
great opening turn out for a BRL Warm up

Thanks to ALL the racers who put it on the line!

Special thanks to the pro's for the info they shared.

Special thanks to those who traveled from afar to race at our Hobby Shop! You make it worth keeping the Hobby going!

Best I could do was qualify 3rd in the show. Definately not bad...but was very intimidating. Unfortunately...due to my (eh em...) neglagence, I dead shorted my battery ...which...cut off pwr to my chargers...due to the fact that my pwr supply has a fail safe system ...kinda like a circuit breaker...(DAM it DAM IT DAM IT!) YEAH,...lol it was one of those nights!

Thanks to Bullit for the Spare to start the race with. Unfortunately, it was quite enough punch out of the hole but it did have enough to last the who 4 minutes.

Still, the experience of it all was well worth the event! I hope that we can do it all over again in April!!!

...and
A Very special thank on behalf of all of us should be awarded to John Foister for keeping the shop open, for all the extra help and information he has given us... for keeping the shop in order!
Thanks to Monti for tuning tips as well.
Thanks to Eli for the psychological Criticism in helping me tune my car and learn to drive better.

Oh and apologies go out to Art Graham for me slightly gettin him loose and bumped him outta turn 2...which...caused a debackle in turn 3...thru turn 4 in the first heat. First time in a long while I didn't feel comfortable on the stand...and nervous as all get out too!

oh btw...nice racin goes to Doug Brock

and Congrats goes to our LONG TIME NO SEE winner from around Lexington Kentucky Charles Karnes
2nd place finish Jacob Mullins
3rd place Barry Sobol

Thad Gardener took fourth
special note*** Thad broke the legends fast lap record with a 6.000 time

I took 5th

Doug Brock took 6th

Brad Mullins finished 7th due to a uncharged battery. (that really sucks)

I myself cant wait til next time!

See you next week for week 3 of the points series!

Eric L

Enjoyed racing ROC and Legends with you guys- the track was fast and hooked up. The ROC class has picked up some serious speed since the last time I was there and the ol' 41 truck just didn't have it this time.

Got lucky enough to hit two dead on 6.000 laps in Breakout Legends, one in the 3rd heat and one in the Main. Someone will have to run three 6.000 laps in a day to break that record. Ran a ton of 6.0's and 6.1's and only broke out once in 155 laps ran. Fiddling with the radio to keep up the pace as the battery discharged and lapped traffic kept your track record just out of reach.

A second "sorry dude" to anyone in 13.5/17.5 who did not like the way I marshalled in turn two. A car wedged under the rail and I got to it as fast as I could. I pulled it back out like I've done (and observed it done) hundreds of times before. The car rolled forward a little so I thought he was taking off but then it stopped, got hit, and then drove away. Same situation in another heat with another guy, except he pulled right out in front of the pack (only 2 other cars!!) causing mayhem. All three cars apparently were not able to finish the race. Unkind things were said afterward, but not to my face.

Anyway, a big thank you to John and the boys at Tri-State for the great track.

Rebuilding my car. Front to back. All the way around. Side shocks were dry. Going to Wolfe pack springs and king pins. Stickin with 3/16ths axles.
Gonna Try a new gear ratio for practice and see how I like it.

Since all of these tire truers are sittin at the shop... and you can't use any of em cause the arbors are missin'(don't understand that).... I'm thinkin of investin in one.

T4/B4 parts for sale. Anybody interested $58 bucks. Money is going to be put back into the Hobby Shop (your laughin at me ain't ya John F. ... lol)
Also, I have off-road tires(on rims of course) that fit a T3/T4

Got a T3 roller I'll take $75 obo for.

My heart stuck in oval and don't see the need for me to be in off-road anymore. And if I do,... I still have plenty of off road vehicles to use...trust me! Got probably enough T3 parts to build at least ...a few more.

I've got some 27 turn motors for sale too. Thinkin I'll cut all the coms so they'll have a fresh cut on them...as for brushess your on your own.

Have I ever "hid" what I've been running?

"Haven't changed a bit"....Ask John about me running a blue/orange on the RF at old track we raced at. I was frugal and the low wear fit the budget.

Ask me my rollout, corner weight, brushes, tire selection, I'll tell you what I'm running.

Each person will have a different combo that works for THEM. Maybe I'm too open with what I run, but this is for fun.

Need to use my scales or motor checker, just ask, I'll give you my numbers to compare with.

I bit my tongue about the shootout for the spring ROC points race, IMHO then ending might have been different (or atleast alot closer) if one item had been discussed. I'd like to clarify what happen incase of another shootout. Would what happen made a difference, I dunno. I rushed my charging, Brad followed his normal routine, cool under pressure.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda....I still had a freakin blast! Thats is what matters most of all.

to the new crew, I have a few "freebies" to hand out that I got with current chassis purchase.

Eric, lost another pack tonight. Charging at 4 amps, discharging at 15 amps......numbers dropping fast the a loud pop.......open window and tossed the pack outside.

Three packs now, always the SAME cell, the first cell the positive/red wire connects to from the maker.

I scaled back on my normal 5 amp charge/20 amp discharge to prevent this.....but there seems to be a flaw in the construction.

I'm gonna build a 4 cell pack out of the remainer cells, properly assembling them, see if any better voltage.

I'm not buying more packs unless I get the stupid cheap, like $10 a pack shipped. If I run out of good batts...oh well.

put about 2 to 3 light coats. apply with a hobby paint brush. use a hair dryer to help speed up the process. after it is dry. use an exacto Knife to cut out the areas that you want painted.

btw... as it was told to me....never use a lighter to dry the mask as it is highly flamable. Unless....that's the effect you are lookin' for.
