"WHAT IF" 17.5 BL and Lipo + Spec motor were close enough to run together? I'm only looking to step up to about 17.5 speed not super ballistic insane madman Monti speeds :)
:)
CHIP.. 17.5 +LIPO = slightly faster than 10.5- NIMH... I dont think you want to take the spec class down that road as it would kill the great thing you guys have going with that class.. As far as creating yet another class of "advanced spec" your then opening up a whole can of worms again.. Part of what helps the classes is having PEOPLE in them.. If you get to where there is 2 SPEC pan car classes, a legends class, 3 BL classes etc.. youll end up with 1 person per class.. Ive been down this road before.. But of course I dont run the show.. I just travel around and watch things spiral downward as 15 new classes get started and 2 people racing each***All while complaining that there is"no one to race"
You guys had an awesome series last year and definately brought some life back into oval last year. Id hate to see that get compromised.
BoneSpec 09-12-2008, 05:27 PM I meant running a 17.5 BL 4 cell Nimh against 27 turn Specmotors and LiPo power
EricL 09-13-2008, 10:01 AM BE THAT AS IT MAY....EH EM....NEED I REMIND YOU PEOPLE THAT TODAY....IS RACE DAY AT THE TRACK!!!

Tri-State Hobbies & Raceway

Today it should be open at 10:00 am...Tony and John will be there!
EricL:woohoo:
EricL 09-13-2008, 10:33 PM First night of racing...only 5 for 10.5...
John F, Monti P, Sean M, Eli E, and Roger from Kenton, OH was there to compete against each other.
1st heat finish was John, Sean, Eli, Roger, and Monti...who didn't get a chance to run....due to...a faulty diff. Roger had difficulties stayin in the groove.
2nd Heat....John, Eli, Monti, Roger, and Sean
Major accident in back stretch which continued into Turn 4 with Sean loosin traction slamming into The inner Turn 4 and then collecting Eli and Roger near the end of the outside of Turn 4 which resulted in Sean being broken. Tough break.
3rd Heat.... was all Eli at first start out but when the paragon settled down...John jumped back up in front to take back what was rightfully his and lead the rest of the way with Eli and Monti bouncin' back and forth for the 2nd spot. Sean had a few close calls due to driftin in the corners a bit and Roger struggled to stay in gear. But, all in all John had his game up while Eli and Monti and Sean gave it a shot to the final minute.
Final of the the 3rd heat was John, Eli, Monti, Sean and Roger
Congrats to John for TQ which I think it was 60/ 4:00.
uNFORTUNATELY!!! I didn't get to stick around for the A main. but, I bet it was a good show between the 5.
I got to turn one lap all the time I was there. After rebuildin spots for my electrics (well sorta) and jibber jabberin with friends.... I didn't do too dang bad....yet...I didn't do too dang good either.!!! However it was a pushy conditions for me and pulled a 5.10's around mostly 5.3's. Then I remembered...about my set ups...I wasn't finished settin up the car....Oh well. I will, however, admit to slappin' the was quite a few times before I finally started to find a bit of a groove out there....but, one little slip....and boy, you was headin for the wall....HARD!!! Took me a bit to get use to my remote again too! Almost fergot how to operate the dang thing!
BTW I wanna say thanks to Hill Billy Thanks for the laughs at my expense! Hoped it made your day! I hope you guys do get back into this hobby...regardless if its off road or on road. But, when you do....make it fun for yourselves and quite gettin sucked into the negatives of it.
Chip...dust your car off and run next time!
Mullins!!!! hurry up and get done and come out next weekend.
Art....Where were you?
Justin,....come out next week and play!
Fred and Ronnie....that goes for use 2's
Special thanks goes out to Sean and Roger for coming out and playing!

samgkd 09-17-2008, 11:48 AM In 1969 I had 2 57's. They went in a straight line only, 1/4 mile at a time.

samgkd 09-24-2008, 05:27 PM Hey Chip,
I'm setting my L4 up for ROC. John fixed me up with tires. Greens for the rear. Green and blue for the front. I'm assuming the blue goes on the front right. Is this correct. Also, what would be a roll out I can start with to be in the ball park?
Sam
BoneSpec 09-25-2008, 07:03 AM Sam,
I haven't touched my car since the ROC Finally. I'll be there Friday to pratice.
I think rollout was about 2.75, Mullins were using two different rollouts but both were quite fast. As to which tires, I'd have to see what are on the car :)
At one time I had a different color on each corner!

Sam
thinkin around 2.50's to 2.60's is good startin point
that's where I'm at and I'm using greens all the way around.
hope to see everyone soon!
EricL
Go Fast, Turn Left, Go fast, Turn left, Go Fast, Turn left, Go Fast, Turn left
Go fast, turn left, go faster, turn left, go faster n dat, turn left, go faster n dat last time, turn left SMACK! IN TURN 3, RESTART^
MARSHALL, MARSHALL, MARSHALL!!! FLIP ME OVER AGAIN!
samgkd 09-26-2008, 11:55 AM I told John I'd be out of town this Saturday, but will be there next Saturday. Just about got my car ready. Just need to mount the battery cups.
73's
Sam
BoneSpec 09-26-2008, 01:19 PM Can I request someone to marshall for me??????
How about a porter to unload my car and carry my stuff inside????
Dang gout.
BoneSpec 09-27-2008, 04:47 AM Sam,
Silver RF, green on the other three corners. I've always been "hard" on the RF due to wear issues and having no funds.
Eric, turn a few 4.7's tonight on junk packs and a string of 4.8's I did get a 4.687 on a RACE pack. I changed NOTHING from last May. Add a charged battery and some tire dope. Took 7-8 laps for the tires to come in and the driver to shake the rust off, but all is good so far. Yes, I never changed the motor out from last race. Cobwebs are good right?
Did a little testing with a 27 turn stock motor and 3300's, cut a few 4.4's, then a string of 4.5's-4.6's with the front edge of the chassis dragging. These are about 17.5 BL times, just need to run them in traffic.
RACERS, PLEASE come back, we need classes to support the shop.
Also don't forget to support your local crack addict.....I mean local carpet track. It's been a hard summer and I miss you folks!
EricL 09-27-2008, 06:18 AM I don't know about the Crack Addict....but I do need this track to be here.
So as for what Chipperroo said,
Attention all racers....come one, come all...
today is the day made for racing!
EricL
EricL 09-28-2008, 10:29 AM Thanks to those who showed up last night for racing! Congrats goes to Hacker Chip (just kiddin') for winning the A main. Nice racing with Ronnie Hilton... we finally got more speed outta your car! Next time I expect you to be in a tighter pace.
I found speed in my car that didn't really have before. I can't believe that Chip n I were pulling 4.6's outta the cars. Unbelievable!!!
Mullin's we missed ya last night....hope all is going well with the house!
We need more racers to come as we learn and try to make the transition to 17.5 It's gonna take a while for me...so I'm probably just gonna run 21 turn spec for a bit. Way I figure it, if all goes well (I say this as I cross my fingers behind my back), I will be running 17.5 next year.
OCTOBER 18TH WILL BE WARM UPS FOR BRL RACES. SEE JOHN FOISTER FOR DETAILS.
As for ROC spec, we will still be racing on October 18th with them for the usuall race fees... Unless... if you want plaques...then there might be additional fees for that....Like I said, See John Foister for details.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the Oval track will be open by Thursday to Friday for practice and Saturday as well untill 5 pm. Heats start at 5 pm and go every hour on the hour.
EricL:wave:
BoneSpec 09-30-2008, 03:54 AM WHA WHA WHAT???????
Thursday and Friday for Oval Practice??????
GAME ON!
EricL 09-30-2008, 05:20 AM I don't know if it is oval on Thursdays but, I do know that it was set up on a Thursday once.
EricL
BoneSpec 09-30-2008, 07:28 AM This would require a secure pit box.........and someone to run against.
EricL 09-30-2008, 07:11 PM This would require a secure pit box.........and someone to run against.
It ain't hard to make a secure pit box! FYI though, you ARE at your own risk when you leave your pit behind....and uncovered.
EricL
BoneSpec 10-01-2008, 04:26 AM I cover mine, but that won't stop a low life.
I had a pit box when I raced with John at an OLD track.....might have to make another. I do remeber just how heavy it was and I'm 16-17 years older now. Yikes.
EricL 10-01-2008, 05:16 AM I cover mine, but that won't stop a low life.

old fart!
BoneSpec 10-03-2008, 04:59 AM old fart!
who needs a hip joint???
yeah, it sucks!
EricL 10-03-2008, 05:33 AM although I'm gonna be there... Im not feelin it this week. I freed up my car and worked on my packs but, it doesn't feel the same. We'll see what happens I guess.
Wonder if I need a little more rake in the chassis... Is there such a thing as over tweakin it??
lets see to turn my car into 17.5... I need:
Motor (I've got the ESC...right Bullit?)
New Spur gears
some pinions...
rearpod set up
batteries
a fresh painted body
tires
fresh bearings (preferably Ceramic)
and most important....MONEY to buy the things I need
hmmmm... don't see it in the works just yet...so for the time being, I'm sticking with the ROC class. However, ...I AM taking donations! [_]3
EricL
BoneSpec 10-03-2008, 05:38 AM Yep, we are stuck to ROC for now.....................unless a 27T with 3800 class comes up!
EricL 10-03-2008, 10:14 PM practiced tonight was lookin for the sweet spot
didn't exactly find it though
learned a few things...
BoneSpec 10-03-2008, 10:22 PM iffy right now if I make it tomorrow, gonna try my best though. Didn't make it up today to practice.
EricL 10-04-2008, 09:39 AM if no one starts showing up, Im just quit this hobby myself.
what the heck's wrong with you people.
You wanna race, yet, you dont show your face
what's a matter...chicken!
t4thor 10-04-2008, 09:53 AM Eric,
is it too late to get involved in the fall ROC class?
If I come get that L4 will I get some help fast with the set up?
been up all night reading this forum and trying to catch up on all the great/positive help and info.that you all share.
I'm hoping to be in time for this class and I can make half the gains and knowledge that you've all made.
Let me know soon.
thanks!
Thor
BoneSpec 10-04-2008, 11:33 AM Fall ROC class is just weekly racing now, haven't started a series yet.
Last weekend was our first race since the spring points series.
bigdog1893 10-04-2008, 01:22 PM yeah thor its gonna be 2 weeks before i get back into the racing game which should be on the 18th for the brl warm-up race. i have some different things going on with my birthday beeing on the 8th in the middle of the week. im saving the party for the weekend.. if all is well im hoping to make it to the track for a friday night practice. sometime between now and then
Ronnie
EricL 10-05-2008, 08:52 AM Thor, and anyone else who is interested.
Please by ALL MEANS get that car...ROC RACING HAS STARTED BUT THE POINTS SERIES RACING STARTS NEXT SATURDAY! THATS (checkin' my calendar for the date)... October 11th.
so you have plenty of time to get the car and build it. Buikd it right... I can try and help with that or others can as well. John or Eli is a really good source of info for this as well for a basic set up.
when you get the car....
buy the .018 springs for the front end. trust me ...its what the fast guys use and told me to use.
A good starting point for your tire size is around 2.25 inches. You can run 2.3 for economical reasons but you risk body roll.
good standard roll out for this class is anywhere from 2.50 - 2.70.
to help figure this out....here is the formula I use.
Pinion divided by spur X 3.14 (Pi) X tire size = rollout
Also, I've made up some charts for this as well if you want I can make a copy and give you one.
also not to reiterate this but here are the rules for this class.
Any pan chassis is acceptable. exp: Associated L3, L4, KSG, hYPERDRIVE, LEADING EDGE, EXECUTIONER.
minimum wieght: 2pounds 6oz's
Chassis height from the floor up is 4mm minimum
ALL ROC SPEC CARS MUST RUN SPEC TIRES (BSR SPEC TIRES)
MUST USE TRINITY SPEC 4 CELL BATTERIES 1600MAHS,
21 TURN BRUSHED SPEC MOTOR.
Your electrics ESC and servos are of your choice.
All bodies must be Nascar style or Nastruck bodies.
All car bodies/truck bodies must have a car number on 3 sides (doors and roof)
Tire compound use is Paragon only!
there are 3 heats and 1 main.
I believe that the Spoiler limit is 3/4's of an inch from the deck of the car. Although I have been told that ROAR has changed this to 1 inch. John, if you can help in assisting us with this we would greatly appreciate it! thanks.
REMEMBER EVERYONE, THIS IS SUPPOSE TO BE FUN.
TO ENTER THIS CLASS ITS A $20.00 ONE TIME ENTRY FEE PLUS THE REGULAR RACE FEW OF $16.00
the 20.00 goes toward the trophies awarded at the end of the points race.
So...weather you are from Troy, Dayton, Lexington, Columbus, or Dilsboro or...even you die hards from Michigan all is welcome to race.

EricL
BoneSpec 10-09-2008, 06:08 AM I'm out the first week for sure.
10/11 UMTR Race
10/18 Party for a buddy who enlisted. Dunno if will be underway early for the BRL preview race....that would decide my fate.
Hey Eric, Hudy lathe with diamond bit, $80 a good price??????
HEHEHEHEHEHEHE.
The $20 fee for the series.......I don't think ANYONE that showed up from the final race ended up shortchanged. You got ATLEAST $20 in door prizes, some got ALOT more!!!!!
Kenwood 10-09-2008, 08:19 AM Anybody have a used pan chassis for sale? There are some people at the track who might wanna buy it.
EricL
I do..But I dont have anything with electronics.. I sold most of my electronics already... My cars ran very well there and havent been changed since running there...
EricL 10-09-2008, 08:25 PM I do..But I dont have anything with electronics.. I sold most of my electronics already... My cars ran very well there and havent been changed since running there...
pretty certain that Dalton Meyers just wants a roller. If you know who I am talkin about,...see if you can get in contact with him... Maybe he might do some trading with ya...say maybe those 12th scales he has for sale???...lol just ask him.
EricL
EricL 10-09-2008, 08:28 PM Incidentally... How much do you want for a chassis...no electrics...maybe, I might stick wife in a car...give er, something to practice with eh.
Eric L
Kenwood 10-09-2008, 09:09 PM depends what you want/need out of it...I can redo it quite a few ways from more to less expensive.. For instance I believe you have seen a few of my cars...some of them have machined hubs that cost more than the cars are worth...Others have regular hubs, same for shocks/front end/etc etc..IF you get a roller and want me to reset it up for the track Id be more than happy to do it..As best as I can anyway..;) However in terms of trading Im not looking to do that... Im thinning/mostly eliminating my RC vault... I Basically am on a haitus for a while if not indefinately...My racing will be severely limited at best...So Im only keeping 1 car***Whichever one of the group is left*** My radio and a charger..
You can PM me if you want and I can give you a breakdown or options on one of them if you want...***again I dont have to demod the car...Ill leave it as it came off the track last..My 13.5 car still has the record there, my 10.5 car needed a little work but still hit 3.8's up front.. My pavement car at this point is of no use to anyone at the track unless they travel, and my backup conversion kits all have deals pending... However Ive got boxes upon boxes of parts... So If you wanted more of a basher then I could put new regular associated shocks on the car, regular hubs, regular servo moutns etc etc... All will go Just as fast...but not as precise on rebuilds and not as much BLING if you will..
Bullit 10-09-2008, 09:56 PM Hey guys! Me and king are comin to race saturday! I've been cycling some batts and rebiulding my shocks, motor, and front end( this year i got to work on chassis setup some more this year, kings trophie is on the mantle of our living room and dwarfs my plaque). I am really anxious to go fast and turn left indoors because outdoor racing with nitro just didn't seem as fun with getting dirt all over our clean tools of our race box and fighting with nitro engines. Electrics is my thing, nitro is just a fun bashing activity in my mind. Its gonna be awesome!
EricL 10-09-2008, 11:12 PM AWesome!!!!
