Found this at an auction today, Topper made these a year or two before the Johnny Lightnings came out, I have an original Topper beside it for size comparison in the last pic. Thanks for the look! Eric

WOW, that thing is huge. Is it as heavy as it looks?

It only weighs about 2 or 3 pounds, mostly plastic

I think there were other models in that series. I had a red conv. that must have been
from Topper.

It was in a box of assorted toys, (had a tonka grader as well,) all for 6.00

For you young ones, back in the 60s these always showed up around Christmas in the independent supermakets. Always something new every year. Good chance for the independents to make a little extra. I want to say they listed at around $20.

We had one of those; it was driven by a wired remote control. I think it used a lantern battery in the remote, but I'm not sure. Ours was all red, but I like your red over black version better. Nice find. I wish we still had ours.
