I am 27 years old and have had many RC trucks and cars but never got into planes. Can you suggest a good beginners plane. I am thinking about this one link below. From what I have read the foam planes are best for beginners. Is that true ? How do you fix the foam when it breaks ? Is there a special glue ?

Is this a good plane for beginners ?

It all depends on what you want to do. Do you just want to fly foam planes or would you want to fly nitro or gas planes. The plane you have a link to would not be a good trainer. For a descent foam plane you are going to spend more for it than you would for a artf nitro trainer plane.

This would be a great first plane. It is what I had. The control has a pluggin in the back side to plug in a cord to go to another controller. So the begginer is on one control and someone with more experence is on another controller. That way when the begginer does a silly mistake(going to happen) the other person takes control and straightens the plane out for you. I have only been flying for a couple of years now and am flying 3-d style ok. Any questions feel free to ask me.

Then the one you have selected should give you the ups and downs of flying sort of. One of great planes flat out foamies would also be good but you would have to turn the travel down really far to learn.

Electric are fine to start out with.
THis is a good starter plane to learn with by yourself.

You do not have to buy it there but it gives you alot of info about it.
This is a nice slow flyer, but it does (as most planes do) need room to fly.
This kit come complete and almost ready to go.
The bigest thing to remember with planes (in the begining) is not to over steer them or try to do tricks to early along.
And remember everybody crashes, it is part of flying.

GOOD LUCK!!!

If you want to fly I would suggest getting a Simulator first. Practice on that and then when you go for the first real flight. It will be a lot easyer then just going out and tring to get it in the air, I practiced for the winter and when i went out for my firsy flight it was simple as pie, to take off and land on my first try.

Hello, I don't mean to hy-jack anybodys thread, but I need some help from the R/C Airplane comunity. It was about 15yrs ago I watched a video (not DVD), and from what I remember it was filmed at the owner's property of a r/c airplane manufacture, and it was a weekend jamboree which ended in a scale attack on Pearl Harbor, with remote control ships bombs, airplans.... it was the fourth or fifth year it was filmed, and it takes place every Memorial day, Fourth of July, or Labor day. Has anybody out there heard of it, seen it. I can not find anything on it on the web. It either took place in Ohio, or Indiana? anyone? I believe the person responsible was the owner of Sig, but I can't find any info there either. I can't find the video title, any help would be appreciated. Again sorry for the interuption.

The cheapest way to fly is the gws slow stick eletric! Find a cheap 4 channel radio and fly on days without wind and you will learn. But if you can find a good pilot to teach you how to fly on a buddy box, that would be better.

I agree the slowstick is the one to get .It comes with a motor. All you need is the flightpack and transmitter...Do not fly it in windy conditions. The trick is to fly late in the afternoon or early in the morn. This is the one take our word for it.....Also jion a club and join the AMA..Welcome the world of model aviation~~~~ jimmy.p. Most of the hobby shops in my area already have a computer dedicated to a flight simulator and I'm sure that you find some in your area. Don't buy one yet, go use their's. Most will be tickled to death to set you up to fly a electric airplane and let you have at it. Most systems are already set up with a very good transmitter to use and that is a big plus also a selling point.
At least this way you can check it out first without spending any bucks except for gas there and back.

Try it before you buy that's my suggestion. Then you can take the Giant leap. The choices will make you dizzy!

for any one getting started eletric to learn solo the park zone super cub is a great plane one hint thought disconnect the anti crash technology it does not work to well in dim light in the evening and depending what your flying over will effect it the limit switch for control surfaces will still work which thats all you really need until you get used to how much input you need and its 3 channel

I have this plane too and it's very nice. It;s a good 3ch plane. I even got my friend to buy one and he loves it. If you do some research you'll find lots of people that love this plane and it's own site here
