haysreeling 03-12-2008, 12:20 AM We are gearing up for the 2008 outdoor season.
There will be some changes that will include the Tuesday night program moving to Fri nights.
We also are planning on running more Sat night races. The big races will be on the holiday weekends and the BL race will tentatively be around July 18 thru 20.
We also will be running the sliders on the infield.
So lets let this miserable winter get out of here and have some fun!!!
BillyBob 03-12-2008, 01:18 PM Any preliminay idea of what classes will be run? Will there be enough for 10.5? I know towards the end of the year last season it kinda fizzled out...
lloydd2 03-12-2008, 02:38 PM I posted this on the Indoor thread and thought that it should also appear on the outdoor thread as well. FYI for those drivers running LiPo, you will be required to use a LiPo charging bag while running at the Triclone and this includes the BIG outdoor track as well. Please understand that this is a safety issue and as such is not up for discussion……you may comment if you like, but it will still be a requirement if you are running LiPo. The decision was made because of the nature of how the batteries will react if/when abused. LiPo will burn instead of explode like the NiMHi that we are seeing and this has the potential to cause much more property damage and as a responsible racer…..it is your duty to help keep the track as safe as possible.

KLUPI 03-24-2008, 03:43 PM Just wanted to get an idea of who is running what this year on the big track.
I am running 13.5, what is everyone else running?
TeamGoodwrench 03-24-2008, 03:48 PM I'll be there again Friday nights !
21.5/ LiPo class !!!
*** Remember, for the 21.5 LiPo class, the ONLY allowed battery will be the Orion Carbon 3200. ****

Don't forget the LiPo changing bag....it IS a required piece of gear.

Uhh Lloydd2, don't you mean "Charging" bag??? :p
4 cell 13.5 for me.
Bob Wright 03-24-2008, 07:02 PM 13.5 & another class to be named later- depending on my $ situation and participation- probably 10.5.
MIDWESTRC 03-24-2008, 09:17 PM Cody will run 21.5/lipo, Saturdays and maybe a few friday nights when school is out. Homework comes first.
SDL98 03-25-2008, 02:27 AM Hays are you going to schedule a big race Labor Day weekend(same weekend King of the Hill in CR Ia) or will you be able to come down and bring some more Cheeseheads that pussed out last year. Lloyd

4 cell 13.5 for me.
No Andy....I didn’t mean changing bag, but the keyboard had other ideas which is why I have CHARGED it. :)

I am not taking the hit on the no show……I am blaming it on my traveling partner that changed his mind three times in less than 1 week. We were going to show….then not go ….then HE changed his mine a few days before the race and did not let me know that he was then going. Isn’t that right FOXY.
SDL98 03-26-2008, 12:23 AM Just had to give you some grief Lloyd hope to see you this summer at the clone
TricloneDave 04-06-2008, 04:01 PM Where is everbody the snow is off the track and the sun is out (not any more it went behind a cloud) me and Dennis walked the track it looks good we just have to fill the cracks up:cool::cool:
KLUPI 04-06-2008, 04:30 PM Sounds good, any estimated date on when the track will be open for practice (weather depending).
TricloneDave 04-06-2008, 04:56 PM If i had my lipo and 21.5 i would be running now but instead iam in the parts shed talking to you:cool: I hope to see everybody soon . If you want to come out and run i will be on sundays:woohoo:
C43GO 04-06-2008, 06:38 PM do we have a schedule for the summer yet?
MIDWESTRC 04-06-2008, 07:21 PM Can't wait. Waiting for Cody's 21.5 motor and we are set.Have Dave J or Triclone Dave call me when you want to work on the track, Cody and I will be there to help. I'll bring the brats!!!!
lloydd2 04-06-2008, 09:50 PM I suspected that with the warm temps....that there would at least be a car or two on the track......cracks or not. I am overhauling the lipo car and will be ready as soon as the track is. As such....there are a few questions that still need to be addressed for those running the lipo class on a regular basis. Already in stone are the speedo: Sphere or Novak, the battery: Orion 3200 ONLY (for this season) and the motor: Novak 21.5 and the use of a lipo charging bag.....what are your votes for weight and motor rotor options. Since the lipo battery is almost 3 ozs less that a 4 cell pack, perposed minimum weights can either be none or 2 ozs less than that of the 4 cell car. This means that the lipo car's minimum weight is 41 ozs vs. 43 ozs for the 4 cell car. Also, should the optional rotor be allowed. What are your thoughts?
LD
Andy Koback 04-06-2008, 09:56 PM I'm thinking HARDYS!!! :p
cheatr71 04-06-2008, 10:19 PM if im able to run this summer very much i would prefer to have 41oz weight. and what optional rotor are you talking about?
ilhorj 04-07-2008, 06:57 AM i would think the min weight could be 41 oz and let any rotor be legel.
Dave J 04-07-2008, 07:04 AM If i had my lipo and 21.5 i would be running now but instead iam in the parts shed talking to you:cool: I hope to see everybody soon . If you want to come out and run i will be on sundays:woohoo:
We need atleast two weeks of 60 degree weather to get the track ready to
run on. We have cracks to fill, walls to repair and re-seal the corners. So until then if the weather is nice we will be working on the track which is kind of hard to do with cars running on it. Trust me, we will get it ready as soon as possible. At this time I am hoping to have things ready to go the weekend
of May 16, 17 and 18 for a practice date, if we can get out there sooner I will
post it here.
The schedule will be out by the end of the week, we just need to get the dates for our Brushless weekend race set.
THANKS Dave J.
lloydd2 04-07-2008, 09:33 AM if im able to run this summer very much i would prefer to have 41oz weight. and what optional rotor are you talking about?
Here is the description from Novak's site about the 13mm rotor, " The Novak Sintered 13mm Tuning Rotor was designed to alter the feel and experience of driving a Novak motor, and offers a new dimension of tunability. With a slightly larger diameter and improved magnetic material, the rotor can withstand a higher temperature threshold, improving its durability. It also increases the natural drag brake and opens up the motor's gearing window to improve drivability." That said, will it make a difference if the car is not right.......I don't think so.
LD
pmsimkins 04-07-2008, 11:29 AM My understanding is the 13mm isn't faster in oval and would probably especially not be faster outdoors.
MIDWESTRC 04-07-2008, 11:51 AM My opinion on weight would be 41oz, and only run the regular sintered rotor , no 13mm.
ilhorj 04-07-2008, 12:31 PM I only suggested to allow all rotor's because:
1) 13mm isn't faster in oval and would probably not be faster outdoors
2) People still have the 1st generation rotors that could be run outdoors
3) One less thing to tech if they were all allowed to run.
C43GO 04-07-2008, 12:34 PM I vote lets leave the wieght at 41 and run whatever rotor you want if we need to change this later lets get some on track data then revisit it.
Hays Jr 04-07-2008, 02:14 PM I vote to leave the rotors as they are. From what I've heard since there is a smaller airgap they have less RPM and you can gear them up a few more teeth. Wether its faster or not I dont think is the whole issue because theres always a "perceived" advantage and it is just another 30$ that people dont really need to spend. Lets just say it is 2sec faster than everyone needs to go spend more $$$ to keep up. Also If it did happen to be faster that is the last thing we need, the 13.5/4cell, 21.5Lipo personally I think is to fast for alot of drivers to begin with and we really dont need the cars to go faster.
