Some of you know that I work with Fresno Parks and Recreation, the same agency that yanked the carpet out from under my Mini-Indy last year. I started with them in July as an aid in their computer lab. Last week my boss came out to my facility and met with me and offered me a new position with P&R, and of course I accepted it. I started today, I got to meet Mayor Aurty (Bubba on heat of the Night and Grace's BF on Grace Under Fire), a couple of Congressmen and the PD Chief. I wish I had taken a camera, those meetings would have been cool for my Myspace.

What I do now is crunch attendance numbers and moniter lab employee performance. Since I seem to be an EXCEL wizz I designed a sheet they use to maintain those numbers, and I'm a real pisser about being to work on-time and to stay the entire shift. I've trained a few aids in that time, all of them are now top notch employees. My job is to turn those I didn't train into better employees.

But the new position took me away from the Mosqueda Center, and the director of that facility was very disappointed I was leaving. In the months I was there I managed to run off most of the thug element, allowing more younger kids to start coming and enjoying the computer lab and other stuff. I will still monitor that facility but I also have a dozen others to monitor, and I'm not dealing with the users now, just the lab employees.

I turned down a $1 an hour pay raise for other perks. I'm getting a nice 3GB flash drive, a rare city vehicle parking pass that lets me park anywhere but Mayor Autry's space, and tickets to events in city parks events like the park concerts we have every spring and summer. Last year we had the Beach Boys, this year CCR is supposed to come and give a Concerts in the Park. Baseball games (go Grizzlies!, a SF Giants minor league team), hockey tickets and plays at the Soroyan Theatre. Hey, I'm an HR Professional, I knew that the perks would far exceed the value of the extra pay. And by taking perks I don't chance losing my disability with excessive wages.

The other really nice thing....I have a fresno.gov email address. Man, things are finally looking up.

ROFL!! I don't think you want to move out here Cowboy, honestly I wish I could afford to move to either Oregon or Washington. The foreclosure rate here is getting close to 30%, gas is $3.60 a gallon average and taxes in this area are 8.75%. And we're in a good part of the state.

Ouch!

And we complain about living too close to Washington DC.

Gas just hit the $3.14 p/gal avg this past weekend. I'm sure it will be where big oil wants it to be intime for Memorial Day and the start of summer. rr

Glad things are looking up. As far as moving to Washington. Sales tax is 8.75% (I think), regular gas is about $3.50 a gallon, and house prices, in a lot of areas, are over-inflated. BUT on the bright side....there are a great bunch of slotters living in the state.:woohoo::woohoo:

What's next for you and HO?

I presume the Group C thing was a one-off as I saw the cars for sale. I hope the lack of space and one grumpy racer is not going to make you change hobbies again!!

Deane, Yoshin and I cancelled the series because of the controversy, it was a mutual agreement between all of the remaining drivers. I have kept one of the Toyota 88C's for future vacuforming though. We will run the one vintage race on LSMR this weekend, probably on Sunday. The first weekend in April, if it hasn't sold, the track will be torn down and the pieces and other landscaping will be used on the upcoming Sequoia Fairgrounds track.

Sequoia Fairgrounds uses the name that Bill Hall gave my last oval last year, right now it looks like the money from the sale of the Gp. C cars will be used to buy the corners, the rest of the track I already have. The 18/15 corner set up looks like what will be used, with 51" main straights.

Originally the layout was going to be 8' long and just 40" wide, since it won't actually be laid down permanently until after I move I may go 4'X8' just to allow for more scenery. Since it is a fairgrounds track having some carnival rides behind the grandstands would be cool. And the obligatory trailer park outside of turn 3 must be considered.

Cars will be t-jet fairgrounds style cars. Those can be modified stock body cars and resin body cars from RRR. I really like his fairgrounds series. Also, certain MEV cars will be allowed. Cars will be allowed any type of tires. Yoshi and I are also talking about a Super 1600 series using VW Beetles with skinny stock tires.

The move will take place in late June or early July when my lease is up, and any place I look at will have to have adequate space for a track.

Nope, but I got one anyway. I still need to get time to finish my new airbox.

Was it? I thought it was you. Hell I've slept, been knocked out and damn near died since then so I don't remember either. Either way...I'm trying to get some nice Sequoia plywood for the layout....so far I've been told no such thing exists. They don't make very good building materials from what I hear, the wood is really brittle.

Yeah, I did! Then Pete sent me a bunch of bodies which somehow disappeared between a certain Mike King, Bill Hall, and others....
