Happy Lords Day everyone,

Got up this morning and stepped on the scales and I'm 10 lbs lighter from two weeks ago when I started my diet and exercise. And if that not enough to brighten my day and give praise getting two hours of tuning/building time in the garage getting my cars ready for the 12 Hours of GreenRun now that's priceless :)

First off for those working on cars for the race here is a link to the last time we ran a Daytona Class cars at GreenRun. The major differences this time is the Bodies have to have rear glass if the real car had it and the chassis are open to all non magnet car chassis including can motors this time.

Tech Report (http://www.vabeachho.com/12hrsGreenRun/TechReport/TechReport.htm)

I have 4 cars I'm playing with one is the Gold GT40 shown in the Tech Report however at the moment I'm working on the Blue GT40 which is basically identical to the Gold one. I'm also building a SWB TJET Porsche 917 and a Slim=line Ferrari Testa Rossa.

Here is a look at them

I have started out by running them on my Dyno and the Skid pad.

The Porsche 917 is a SWB TJET with Vincent wheels from MEV and white lettered tires from RRR. The Motor is 17.7 on all poles with Black/Black White Stripe magnets which I haven't measured yet. I built this car a year or two ago just for the fun of it and now I want to see how good I can make it run.

This car turned a 17/16 on the Dyno and ran the running mile at 4.28 seconds. On the skid pad it did .809 G. I trued the tires some more and tried it again and got .842 G. I haven't done anything to the pickups yet and that my next step will be some American Line pickups and restricting them.

The GT40 came up next and it did an 11 on the Dyno and 6.15 for the running mile. On the skid pad it pull .917 G. The pickups are already restricted and this car was fine tuned for the last race. It need a good cleaning and some fine tuning on the pickups to see how much better it can get.

The car I really want to race is the slim-line Ferrari Tests Rossa. I want to see just how good I can make a slim-line run, This car has Vincent wheels on the front wit some tires from a diecast that were thrown in my keep these for later drawer. I used a JW stainless steel hollow front axel that I cut down to work with the wheels held on with straight pins. Make a nice looking independent front. I had a hard time getting this car to hook up. I had some RRR white wall tires on it then tried is silicones made for his wheels. I used the front tires and it got better then I went to a set of Rocket Science Bauer tires and it got much better but not where I wanted it. It was power sliding through the skid pad. I then on a whim tried a set of Penn Valley silicones for stock TJET wheels. The stretched to fit the Vincent wheels and set on the wheels very nicely now the car hooked up. I have BSRT AFX Copper shoes on the chassis and I restricted them with yet another use for hollow shaft Q Tips. I rounded the corners of the pickup shoes on the front hanger end. Smashed flat the end of a Q Tip with the end cut off. Slid it over the pickup shoe then trimmed it off. I also added some clay behind the front axel on the chassis to add a little weight till I can get up to the hobby shop and get some aircraft lead lead weights. I haven't done anything to the chassis or motor yet that's coming a little later. I just want to get the max out of it on the skid pad before I go for extra speed.

The Ferrari turned a 10 on the Dyno and 7.187 fro the running mile. Considering the gear ratio that's not to shabby at this time. Since GreenRun has such a short main straight and back chute I will probably leave the gear ratio alone for this race. On the skid pad it did .886 G so its not too far off from the GT40. My goal is for it to pull more G's and match the GT40 on the DYNO. Only time will tell. One thing I really like is how much lower the body can go and how much better the wheels fit the wheel well openings.

Stay tuned for more on these cars as I tune them up.

Hey Chris do nyou have any Vincent wheels like nthe one on the Ferrari you can make sili foams on?

Having fun this Sunday

Hi everyone,

Had to take my wife to the Doctors today so I had the afternoon off. She OK just a normal checkup :) So I did a little more tuning.

The GT40 I put some BSRT pickups on and adjusted them. No improvement at all on the skid pad. I really thought there would be.

Now the slim-line :) I put some Thunder Slims motor brushes in and adjusted them. The Dyno went from a 10 to a 14/13 and the Running mile went from a 7.18 to 5.78 a very nice gain here. I tried reposition the front wheels to LWB and lost ground on the skid pad. I tried a set of smaller trued slip-ons and it lost ground to. Went back to Middle Wheel Base position and added clay in the front from the Magnet to in front of the front axel. The clay only went to the top of the axel. The skid pad went from .886 to .912 pretty close to the GT40. I don't know how much better I can get the skid pad without getting some custom sily-foam rear tires and a custom front end from JW or RTHO for the slim-line. I still need to lap the gears and work on the rear axel crown gear friction. This should smooth the motor out a little more. One thing I was thinking of doing but now I'm going to hold it for my Grand Prix car was to add a neo dot to the back of each motor magnet to increase their strength to see how much it will help the slim-line. There are quite a few different sizes and shapes that could be tried.

I may build a brand new GT40 or maybe a Ferrari 512S to see how good I can get one to go
