I thought I had read on here a mod for a replacement front axle on the AW cars?

Something about a brass rod cut to length to replace the existing front axle.

Reason why I'm asking is because since finishing my Dash's '55 body I've been running it like crazy and I've noticed the front wheels like to bind up against the body and the reason is because there is a rediculous amount of "up" and "down" play in the front axle and wheels.

Which wouldn't be a problem if I had the stock thin tires or even the o-rings but I'm running Tomy rear tires on the front which are a bit wider. I figure if I can get the play out of the front axle the tires shouldn't smack the body.

There are two threads I know about, nether of which may be what you are looking for.

One concerns replacing AFX front tires with common O-Rings. That thread is either in the collecting or tuning sections.

The other is titled something like "JL TO Tuning Tips" in the tuning section. It talks about buying drill rod to be used as axles.
