I have a new XXXT-CR, that I just built, and in the manual it states not to use anything faster than an 8.5 brushless. My question is why is this? Is the transmission too weak to handle say a 5.5, and if so does anybody make an upgrade kit for my transmission so I can handle a hotter motor? I need to know because my track starts racing in May and everybody I race against is running a 5.5 brushless or equivalent, and I have a 5.5 that I ran last year. And theres a couple of guys with T4's that are really darn fast so I need to keep up.

I don't know why it would say that. I am currnetly running a 6.5 in my truck. It should be able to handle a 5.5 with no transmision problems.

There are several of us at our track that run the CR with 7.5 and 6.5 Novak brushless in them. We dont have any problems with the tranny breaking or anything like that. I will say this, a 5.5 is going to be a ton of motor for the truck. We at times have trouble keeping the 7.5 and 6.5 from breaking the tires loose and spinning in circles all the time.

Anything the guys running the T4's can run will work fine in your CR. Good luck!

They probally put that in their because you'll get some Joe BACKYARD Basher he'll put in a 3.5 with a lipo And running it on the street and Say's HOT DAMM LOOK AT THAT BOOGER GO . Burns the Tranny up and dos'nt have a clue how to rebuild it.

LOL! Thats a really good point! But I just thought it was weird that Losi would put that in their manual, Out of all the kits I have built none have ever had a motor limit.

I run a 6.5 with a 82/22 and have no problems at all. Make sure you adjust the slipper is all.

I run a 5700 and sometimes a 7700 and as long as you keep the diff adjusted right you will not have any problems.

I would say a 5.5 is too much also. I would run a 6.5 or 7.5, they are plenty fast for a 2wd truck. :)
