My post here was out of my normal character and best to change it.

Donnie Burnett has been appointed to the oval committee chair pasition and he will do a fine job leading the committee.

Tim if you would like to remove my quote from your post I think Dawn would appreciate it.

Nothing against Donnie Burnett, but who is he? And how does he deserve the position over John?

John has been in the industry for a long time, he is a company and track owner. Hmmm.... sounds to me like he has the needed experience!

Not a good decision on ROAR's part in my opinion.

John is a great guy and support him totally. I hate to see John have to step down. Donnie is also a great guy. He is the owner and operator of Carolina RC Complex which is where the 2008 Nats are being held this year. I hate to see something like this happen to two great guys that has done a lot for our hobby. What I mean by this is I hope there are no hard feelings between them which I think there will not be because they are both stand up men that want the best for our hobby. Donnie will do a great job as chairman just as John did while he held that position. I wish the best to John and Donnie both!

Donnie is the owner of Carolina R/C Complex in Easley S.C. They hosted the ROAR Nats in 2007 and will again in 2008.

But what is the reason for your termination John? You did not join the ROAR forum and make some posts?

Seems a little weak on ROAR's part to let you go for that.

How do they ignore the obvous success and lessons learned by the BRL...? How is honest advice reason for dismissal?

Because ROAR thinks they are in touch with oval and doesnt like anyone that has a different opinion than they do, it has been that way for years. Good luck ROAR ill stick to BRL and all of the rest of the non ROAR races.

John has been a key in the current growth of Oval. His passion, abilities and track record are unmatched by any other. Considering John's busy schedule it is, for him, a blessing in disquise. It is for racing a loss at best...

I consider Donnie to be a very competent successor, but he has some big shoes to fill. good luck...

It sure did not used to be this way, not back in the hay-day of oval. Of course there were 400+ entries at the events and that means $$$.

Hey Katf1sh, some dude said you were dead. There was some twit on the rcthunder chat room yesterday saying his dad saw you were in a wreck. Good to see you are alive and kicking

Just becuase john is gone it doesnt mean oval is going to die, donnie's track has always been for the racer and he will continue to look after the racer know. I've raced at easley for 2 years and he's always done whats right so have no worries ,john being fired is dramatic for some if he didnt have the time maybe this will allow him to focus on other things he needed to.The worst thing people can do is treat donnie bad becuase there mad at roar about john ,just give donnie a chance.

Flying5 -- I do not think you will find any animosity towards Donnie in this thread. Only Alan asked who he was, simply because he did not know. Those of us that know Donnie and what type of owner/racer he is hope that he will be allowed to do what is needed and not be a pawn. I believe what is upsetting to the ROAR membership is the way that this has been percieved to have come about.

I do know this, that between John and Donnie last years Oval Nats was the largest in the last 3 years, if not longer. They both worked together to bring Nitro-Pan to the race and with great success too.

Yes Donnie is a great track owner and, In my opinion, ALSO KNOWS what is needed in Oval Racing as far as ROAR is concerned.

Oval Racers....I have met Donnie, raced at his track and his heart is definately in oval racing. Give him the support he needs to be able to carry on the job representing the needs and desire of the oval community. He has a huge task ahead of him.

Katf1sh is not dead, He just smells that way. :drunk: Atleast I saw him wheeling an oval car yesterday and lastnight so I can vouch for the fact that he is still very much with us.

I do not follow Hobbytalk, nor do I post here much, but I was looking through these threads and felt I needed to respond.

I am the Electric On Road Committee chariperson, and have had many discussions with the current and past EXCOMM's. They look to our committees for guidance for the respected classes.

I was told that my committee members needed to login to the forum for a roll call, and if they did not, they were to be replaced. I agree'd as if the people do not have enough time (2 minutes ) to login, they they probably do not have enough time to devote to helping out with rules discussions.

All I can say, is that this is the most fair EXCOMM we have had in years. John did a good job, and I am sure he will work with the new Chair to keep things moving in the right direction.

Well racers, it looks like they did not like hearing the truth.

Check this out. My termination notice.

Gentlemen:

2008 has brought forward many changes and one of those changes is a new oval class committee with a new direction in ROAR. There are so many changes to the racing scene with brushless motors and lipo batteries yet oval racers are not able to move in that direction because manufacturers haven't understood motor is everything in this racing and tighter rules are necessary. Oval has always been forced into doing one thing over and over because no product on the market takes into consideration their special needs.

This will change. But.. it can't overnight..... for 2008, the oval nationals must be allowed to state motor product and run a single manufacturer motor. ROAR will not state that product, it must come from the tracks preference. This will be for 21.5, 17.5, 13.5 and 10.5 racing. ROAR would prefer different mfg's for each class but understands in 2008 that might not be possible. (The oval nationals hosts will make the announcements as to their classes and adjustments will be made where necessary publically for already stated classes regarding carpet oval nats)
Let me see if I am hearing this correct "Roar agree's to go slow (give some time to see what is really needed in Oval) at one point in time - then Roar reneges - And when they will not keep their commitment and try to force their agenda down our throats and I go online bring all the facts out in the open (instead of behind closed doors) they decide they will live up to the original decision. I am fired for it! David Lee was my liaison to exec com and I have been sharing the concerns of oval with him in regaurds to brushless motors with him. I have had many conversations with David over the past 6 to 8 months. Just 6 days ago we spent 2 to 3 hours discussing this issue in person at my place of business. I was doing exactly what I was supposed to be doing, comunicating with my liaison. You know what, it wasn't working. Only till I brought this to these forums did anything happen. Dawn called me thurday around 4:30 pm and vented on me for 30 minutes about all chatter on line about there not being any brushless oval rules for 2008. I asked her if she wanted me to go online and clarify what was going on with the no rule changes for oval in 2008 and she told me that would be great. I asked her if she wanted me to email her my post for review before hand for her approval. She told me I was very intelligent and that would not be nessesary. She new I was not in agreement with her on the allowing all manufactures motors in one class at this point (that was the whole reason for the no changes in 2008). Enough said, all clear minded people can see what is going on hear.

Also, to change things up a bit, and per the bylaws, I am appointing a new chairperson to the oval class committee. We need vision for the future and a reasonable attitude towards ovals future in ROAR. Oval isn't broken... but oval racing in ROAR needs updating and consistency in WRITTEN rules. I have asked Donnie Burnett to work with the Excom as the oval committee chairperson and gratefully, Donnie has accepted. Donnie has stated to me that he accepts because he sees the need for oval racing to have ROAR in their midst's and believes in our mission. David Lee will act as the liaison to the Executive Committee and the Oval Committee. David's role is not as a member but as a source of communication only.

Donnie has quite a list of tasks to perform already and he and I will be generating items for discussion with the rest of this committee in the next few days. (I will be out of pocket this week for a personal business matter)

I realize this is a lot to digest in an email and in the committee discussion forum that we have created on the ROAR site - there will be more information to follow. On this point I am at fault and gracefully accept my termination. I was required to join this forum and instruct all oval commitee members to do all discussions hear so there would be a written record of all discussions. Any emails between committee menbers were to be CC: to Dawn. Due to my busy schedule I did not get this done nor did I pass on this info to the commitee members.

Dawn Sanchez
ROAR President

I hope the events of the past couple day serve as a wakeup call and things get slowed down slightly as to get them right. Quite making promises to people that then require you to make poor judgment calls.

Sincerely
John Foister
