With all the debate over the rules, motors, bodies, etc. for the upcoming ROAR Nationals - and ROAR in general... something a lot of guys fail to see is this.

With a regional series that is not sanctioned (like the BRL, the SWTour, etc.), we don't have any obligation to the R/C Manufactures in so far as building OUR rules to allow their products. We have to do what we feel is best for OUR group of racers.

ROAR on the other hand - being THE National Sanctioning Body - has a totally different way things have to be handled.

ROAR should not/can not be "Single Mfg." driven, instead ROAR has to build a set of rules/specs/ and guideline for which a product is LEGAL - and open the door to ALL MFG's to build products that fit within those rules.

For years, it's been perceived that TRINITY was pretty much the only STOCK Brushed motor - but if you look at the ROAR Rules - there was a Lot of motors on their approved list (Doesn't mean they were used)

The same can happen in the new Brushless era. Just because there are 20 approved motors on a LIST - doesn't mean they will all be RUN - but they WILL be legal to be run. (Racer's will soon determine if they want to chase a bunch of brands at the chance one is BETTER or PRETTIER) - A lot of racers will stay Brand Loyal to their favorite companies (ie: NOVAK - TEKIN - etc.) and those racers who run 'non-sanctioned' events that have brand specific rules...will either have multiple brands or they will stay with the brand they can run at the non-ROAR sanctioned events.

Racers must also understand - our small regional type series (Again BRL , SWTour, etc.) have a fairly small market to deal with. Sonny has a couple hundred (give or take) racers he's dealing with - where we have less than 100. But - other groups do follow what some of these series do, and adopt them for their tracks use...which broadens the numbers a little..

But, ROAR is dealing with OVAL RACING - OFFROAD RACING - ONROAD RACING - etc. Plus it's on a NATIONAL level, not just regional.

Cut ROAR a little slack - we all know what motor works great for EVERYONE in Off-Road - may NOT be the same motor that On-Road finds suitable - and same for Paved or Carpet Oval, but the ROAR Rules Standards need to apply across the board for as many rules as is possible.

We broke away (OVAL RACING) when we went to 4 cell - I don't know if OVAL can have it's own "SPECIFIC" rule book or not (I know they can...but is it worth it) We had a 'different' rule for 19t motors for OVAL vs. the rest of the world, and it was very confusing to some.

The more we can bring all the differnt venues of R/C Racing to a similar rules package on Motors and Batteries (AT A NATIONAL LEVEL) the better.

For those like ME - who like and support a SINGLE MFG. arena - try to push the event holder (ie: the track who bids on the Nat's) into having their ONE option class as a MFG SPEC. Class. (Like the 13.5 class will be it sounds like)

I can say - the more 'UNIFIED' oval racers can be - the easier it is to get what you want/need, but it's still RACERS wanting what THEY want - and MFG's wanting what THEY want to SELL....

...in closing - you have to give ROAR and DAWN a lot of credit. This is the MOST Pro-Active I've even seen this organization, and the MOST willing to LISTEN I've ever seen them.

You can now JOIN "On-Line" and you have a VOICE!

Thank you Dawn!
