I honestly can say this car could have no better "tag."
For something that was gonna be simple to three months later. Then when just about "done....." CRUNCH. Torpedo trashes it. That led to a complete rethink on the engine which solved all the issues.

Torpedo was glad to get this one under his belt.

The crews happy to get their "bird" back in one piece. SARGE's back's a spasumin' from the all night fender party.

You know how I feel about your work, it's just inspiring! You think so far outside the box, but you make it feel so very comfortable. You make it so the viewer goes right along with you.
Does that make sense? I don't seem to put it into words very well. But trust me, everyone on this side of the screen is just smiling a huge smile. I think every build you do , I like better than the last! Nothing but applause for this one as well. So I will repeat myself again..."no, THIS is my favorite one so far"!
The bottom, dreamy photo is a work of art as well. It looks "right". I can hear Red Barchetta playing as a soundtrack!
Yes sir, another work of art.

DANG...Thanks. I hope everyone has enjoyed the Longnoses as well as Torpedo and his ever growing saga. Maybe one day something like a pictorial auto biography? Title it something catchy like "Torpedo Jones Story (The first hundred or so years.)"
Hope maybe somthing can be gleened from the WIP's as well.

At first glance at the outer skin it may not look like this custom should have been too hard. It was.... The main problem was after the front was cut I realized the thickness of the metal was going to be an issue. Almost 1/8" thick! I bought another SE-5 to use as a jig to form the copper foil for the hood and the fenders. The foil was just a logical choice for the hood and fender treatment. I was going to form my own headers out of aluminum tube but this proved to be just too much trouble. This also resulted in several cave-ins of the engine's lower side panels. These were eventually covered in 3M Aluminum Adheasive Foil to prevent another collapse of the panels. The engine was a combo of a Sweet 16 used for the lower end and headers. They luckily fit with some more trimming of the engine side panels and a bit off the sides of the copper hood. The brass fuel log came from a Poison Arrow. Still not sure what the wheels came from. The canopy was a toss up between using the original black canopy or using a Vac.U. Formed unit. As an after thought it was split in two so as to give access and a view to the copper and leather interior. The leather came from an old wallet. The grill was cut from a piece of etched brass sheet. The biggest issue was getting the sawed up pieces to glue back together. Individually they were like trying to fight an octopus....well that would have eight legs. This only had five pieces to deal with so I guess it would be better compared to a star fish. After it was all glued together it pretty solid.
It'll be awhile before I get another custom done as we're getting ready to get back to recording in the next couple weeks. Maybe before that I could get a decent start on something else.
I've got one more idea for an at speed shot but its going to take a bit more manipulation of the set-up before I get it right.

He's took more a beat'n in the shop than the road. SARGE and "Torp" got into it again today. Started over wheather a bolt was 3/4 or 19mm. Here we see SARGE showing Torpedo it IS a 3/4. :freak:
