Anyone have a clue on the rarity of this car?It has been in tissue paper since the day it was made and is dead mint with absolutely no wear.

They are still available new if you look around, Chris. They can be had for 25.00 or so.
I am guessing that it is the U-turn piece?

I recall this being sold as a HP7 Lighted car around 1991. Tyco first sold the 1979 Mustang as a Police car with a large rectangular lightbar around 1989 or so such as what was used on the US-1 Fire Truck. They then switched to smaller twin round lights for the lighted HP7 version plus they had the LED set-up with lights and siren for their U-Turn line. I think the white Fire Chief Mustang was sold a as U-Turn only which is more commonly spotted than the red lighted HP7 version.

The police cars are more common with the first square light bar being the ugliest and hardest to find and the round lights being easier in both HP7 and U-Turn versions but this one isn't seen that often. The 1979 Mustang Jam Car has the round light bar piece although not lighted such as what is used for the later issue Lighted HP7 Police and Fire Chief.

I can't give a value but I think it is rarer than the white Fire Chief Mustang and Mustang Round Light HP7 U-Turn Cop Cars.

Hey Chris,
Both the red and white Mustangs w/roof lights are rated a #3 in Danny Espositos book.

It is pretty hard to figure out since we got the Internets and that infamous online auction house so prices and demand have changed. Again, my opinion only but I've seen more U-Turn White Fire Chief Mustangs for sale than Lighted HP7 Red Fire Chief Mustangs.
