View Full Version : Mr. McKay....WHY?!?!? Oscarw 03-06-2008, 02:45 PM http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=213088 Pete McKay 03-06-2008, 07:37 PM http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=213088 Oscar, simply put Laguna Seca is too big for my current residence, and may prove to be too big for my residence when I move this summer. The track was a joy to build, I learned a lot about shaping foam and other stuff, and the track, for me at least, has been a blast to drive. At 6' X 6' it covers a pretty good size area and was designed to fit in my spare bedroom. Unfortunately when it came time to move it back there I had miscalculated the height of the layout by 1 1/2" and it would not turn the corner necessary to go into the room. Since then it has been standing on one end in the entry way of my 800 sq. ft. apartment virtually blocking my front door and coat closet. I know there are very few people who live close enough to me that would be interested in taking LSMR off my hands. I've placed ad's on Craigslist and in the local paper, hopefully one of the big scale guys may pick it up. If not, at the end of April I may have to scrap it, remove all the usable trees, track and structures and take the foundation apart. All of the foam would be removed, I doubt much of it would be salvageable. The lumber might, but a complete disassembly would be necessary. This does not mark a departure from slot cars for me, but maybe a new direction. The track is a challenge to drive, even for magnet cars. The layout I had previous to this was a 4-lane long oval, and I may return to the oval for my next layout, nothing will be built until after my move in late June or early July. If I do a fairgrounds type curcuit again it will use the salvaged landscaping from LSMR. I wish I lived closer to a hub of racing than I do. I'm sure that the Seattle Gang would love this layout, I'm sure a lot of people would. The cost of trucking it to a buyer would be more than it's worth I think, so if a local buyer can't be found then as unfortunate as it sounds LSMR may become just another foot note in slot car racing here at Hobbytalk. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
