Do you want to replace it with another Tecumseh?

If you can get a Honda Clone, they work pretty well. the only problem they might have is that the cams wear down faster. Heck, people have gotten plastic cams with them :freak:

have you possibly tried freeing up the old motor?

If it ran with no oil, you're outta luck.

If rust seized it, just remove the spark plugs, spray liquid penetrant in there, put the spark plugs in, and wait. In a few days it'll be freed up.

You could pick one up on eBay.

I just checked and as of today (03/05/08) there's a new Tecumseh HM80 (the current model number is LH318XA) snow blower engine on "Buy it now" for $298.95 + $70.68 shipping.

There's also another new one offered. Current bid is $255 + $54.95 shipping.

Staying with the same engine may simplify installation in the long run. May have to adapt some parts from the old engine; snow blowers don't have air filters and do have carb heater boxes.

Good luck,
Dennis
