View Full Version : Carpet Latemodel?
SHACK38 03-01-2008, 11:25 AM Just picture this, last years touring car with a latemodel wedge body "McAllister or other of your choice" on spec drift tires like the Tamiya RC Super Driftech #54020 with brushless and lipo for motivation. Maybe a small side dam to help keep things under control. Just a thought and maybe someone has already tried it. I don't know. :thumbsup:Any ideas?
latemodel100 03-04-2008, 04:47 AM I could do without the drift tires just throw some hard compound foams on it IT SLIDES great trust me on that one, LOL...............
Yeah i would like to see a Dirt Latemodel Body on something on carpet, I know they have something similiar up in Wisconsin..............

latemodel100 03-04-2008, 11:48 AM Nice deal, wish I would be closer once home........... Man need something like this in the midwest as well..........
charger01 03-04-2008, 12:28 PM It's a cool class.....gets you away from all the money, b.s., and ego's that seem to be prevalent in oval racing. This class reminds me of the old six cell pan car days when everyone was competitive, the racing was a blast, and people actually enjoyed it without spending big bucks!

That might be worth a try. The reason I mentioned the drift tires was the low cost, long life and the ability to use the exact same tire on each car. The tamyia tire is a solid urathane witch is not verry easy to modify. Traction compound doesn't change its compound or wear factor. This maybe complete over kill. I'm open to everyones ideas. Thanks for now SHACK
charger01 03-06-2008, 11:21 AM How would cap tires work on carpet?
SHACK38 03-06-2008, 11:37 AM I think it would depend on compound and they are verry expensive!!! But a hard compound rubber touring tire might be the easier way to go. But that could get carried a way too.
charger01 03-06-2008, 11:47 AM I know they cost a lot, but I thought maybe they would last longer!
SHACK38 03-06-2008, 01:21 PM What is the spec tire in the late crate class at your LT?
charger01 03-06-2008, 02:00 PM We have been running t.m. although technically any "spec" tire (ones with a stripe) are allowed. Blues and greens are the compounds of choice.
nsanderson92 03-10-2008, 05:37 PM i live in Indiana and i run a latemodel class with any battery up to 4600,stock motor, mcallister hagerstown body, and whatever tires you want its a blast real competitive and fast, we are thinking of going to a17.5 brushless class next year to even out the advantage of getting one hot stock motor and then the next time you buy one its a dud, oh and we race on a flat carpet oval its really fun
sloppy 03-14-2008, 03:33 PM you mean like this?

I like it looks like fun to me.
specs touring car abs tires late model bodies.. as far as I know these guys had the motors open. you are only gonna do so much with no traction.. I think the idea is great they drift like real late models the cost is gone for tires abs cost 2bucks for 8 tires and will last 10 seasons on carpet. on thing I have noticed drifting on carpet is the traction compound starts to build up and you will stop drifting and start pushing but more motor could fix that.
Now that looks like some serious fun!!!
sloppy 03-14-2008, 11:17 PM yeah and cheap to. just pick up used TC and you would be good to go plus the body.
DIRTsportsman 03-14-2008, 11:43 PM That does look fun. You can see the cars with sail panels have a pretty good advantage.
