View Full Version : OK, now since the storm is over, who has the K-Mart pre pro release?
masphx 02-25-2008, 06:19 PM I wanted to know if there were really only 12 of these sets out there. I havenot keeped track of who has what and how many. I'm sure someone has. A few of these sold on ebay a week or so ago.
I traded for mine. It was found in Billings, MT on the pegs(no box). Now its on display in Tucson, AZ. Set is complete with the receipt, box is missing.
If you have one or know someone who does please say so. If you have the info, state where the set came from and where it is located now. We can keep track since they are low in numbers. I guess mine will be number 1.........
(note, I'm not sure if the set is a pre pro, just used the words as it seems close to it)
Thanks for the help:thumbsup:
Mason

rattlehed 02-25-2008, 08:56 PM It may be tough to get a real # as I'm sure that some were found by non members here at HT. You would have to post this on all of the various websites and average the numbers. I'm also sure that someone not a member of any online community found a set as well so those could not be accounted for. I bought a pair of the Coronets s&c(the top row left two in the pic)so I know at least 1 set was broken up. I've heard that as many as a dozen sets were found.
Bob327FI 02-25-2008, 09:19 PM Hello. I found a set in Casper Wyoming. Greenlite says there were 12 sets produced. Nine for venders, Mopar, Chevy ect. and three sets for their archives. One set sold on Ebay for 660.00. I hope this helps a little. Take care.

3rdCoastDiecast 02-25-2008, 09:20 PM When the news first hit, I tried to get a complete set, but was unable to. I was able to get most of them from people who divided the sets. I was unable to obtain four of the cars and gave up. So I can guarantee you, first hand, there are at the very least two incomplete sets out there, which if GL's #'s are correct, only 10 complete sets would be left, IF none of those 10 cases were split. I tried and tried to get those last four, but they were not budging and I was only spending so much $$. I agree that we may never know the true number, as many collectors do not use forums.
Franklin2700 02-27-2008, 01:26 AM As the owner of a set, I tried like crazy to keep up. My count stopped at 11 complete sets, accounting for two that were broken up and sold individually on the bay. The question now remains just how many of the 11 were eventually broken up afterward. I've seen at least two more sellers with un-numbered cars for sale, but its certainly possible that those came from complete sets previously accounted for.
GreenLight did state that they kept 12 on hand for Vendors, as well as a "number of extras" for internal use. Its entirely possible that those internal pieces also leaked out. However, Greenlight now commands a hefty premium for the privilege of communicating with them, and even then there is no guarantee that they will divulge any additional information. I will not be parting with my set any time soon, but I will admit that I was extreemly disappointed in GL for not being more forthcoming about the release.
For what its worth, I think the set selling for $660 was the bargain of the year. I'd bet that if GL were straight forward about exactly how many leaked out (and lets say that number is... 15), that would make the set more than twice as rare as any other production Green Machine. Then the set would really be something to talk about!
