SANTA MONICA, California (CNN) -- Lindsay Lohan received an exclamation point on her terrible 2007 at the 28th annual Golden Raspberry Awards on Saturday morning, with her film "I Know Who Killed Me" earning a record eight Razzies -- including three for Lohan herself.

"I Know Who Killed Me," a thriller the Razzie organizers described as a cross between "the 'Hostel'/'Saw' genre of 'teen torture porn' and ... the old 'Patty Duke Show,' " picked up Razzies for worst director, worst screenplay, worst excuse for a horror movie, worst remake or rip-off, worst screen couple (Lohan's portrayal of two identical-looking characters), worst actress (two trophies for a tie between Lohan and Lohan) and worst film of the year.

"I Know Who Killed Me's" achievement surpassed -- if that's the correct word -- the seven Razzies won by "Showgirls" (1995) and "Battlefield Earth" (2000).

Eddie Murphy, whose "Norbit" was up for eight Razzies, also won three awards -- worst actor, worst supporting actress and worst supporting actor.

Murphy is "the Woody Allen of our awards," noted the Razzie presenters, observing the comic actor had been nominated as a writer as well as a performer.

"I Know Who Killed Me" and "Norbit" won all but one Razzie category. That last honor, worst prequel or sequel, went to "Daddy Day Camp," a follow-up to a Murphy vehicle, "Daddy Day Care," that substituted Cuba Gooding Jr. for Murphy in the lead role. ("And we all know how high his standards are," the presenters said of Murphy.)

The Razzie show, which moved to the Abracadabra Theater at Santa Monica's Magicopolis complex after several years at a Hollywood theater, led off with a tribute to its 10 a.m. start time, "Good Morning Razzie Day," a parody of "Hairspray's" "Good Morning Baltimore."
The show also got in knocks at the writers strike, the Golden Globes and "Daddy Day Camp" star Gooding, who was described as having "a career trajectory only a masochist could envy."

Among the Razzies' "losers": the Adam Sandler film "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry," which was nominated for eight Razzies and won zero, making it the "Turning Point" (0-for-11 at the Oscars) of the Golden Raspberries.

"It shows that even Adam Sandler has a hard time catching up to Lindsay Lohan or Eddie Murphy when they're at their worst," Razzie creator John Wilson told CNN.

"Though," he added, "I thought Rob Schneider would win over Murphy" for best supporting actor.

Both performers played cliched Asian characters in their respective movies.

But, in general, it was Lohan's show, with the actress and "I Know Who Killed Me" steamrolling over competition that included "Bratz: The Movie," "Who's Your Caddy?", "Epic Movie," "Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem," Diane Keaton in "Because I Said So" and Jessica Alba in "Awake," "Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer" and "Good Luck Chuck."

Wilson was asked if he was surprised that Lohan did so well, given that she may have earned some sympathy from Razzie voters given her rough 2007, which included two arrests, three stints in rehab and community service.

Wilson said that though Lohan was in another 2007 stinker, "Georgia Rule," she was actually decent in that film and the Razzie voters "left her alone," admitting that -- given her Razzie haul -- "that's small compensation."

Neither Lohan nor Murphy was present to accept their bounty of awards, despite e-mails and phone calls from Wilson requesting their attendance. But he wasn't surprised by their absence, he said.

"It's not the kind of awards show where they're likely to show up," he said.

Good year for bad movies. Forget about oscars. For these last few years not getting a razzie is enough to brag about for most producers.

Was it last year that Halle Berry won for "Catwoman"?

I love that she showed up to accept the Razzie, and
made her agent go to the "awards", too.

She said it was half his fault, so he should be there! :p

I saw I Know Who Killed Me while I was in The Desert this last time. It truly deserved every Razzie that it won, trust me. I'm just glad that I didn't pay money to see it and just watched it on my DVD player 'cause it sure as Heck doesn't deserve big screen treatment.

Blech! :drunk:

She may be in bad movies, but I want to play "Connect-the-Dots" with Lindsay's freckles!

Mildly interesting family anecdote - My mother's best friend since grade school married into the Lohan family about 50 years ago. All these years I never made the connection, but she recently mentioned that Lindsay is her friend's husband's second cousin. She says they started off being really proud to have such a talented celeb in the family. Now they try not to even bring it up, and they're happy when somone mispronounces the family name so they can distance themselves a little further. :freak:

Personally? I think Lindsay is drop-dead beautiful (when she's healthy), and definitely one of the greatest natural talents of her generation. She could, if she tried just a little, be her generation's Ann-Margaret. But she seems to have not a lick of common sense in her, and is destroying herself and her career with her own stupidity.

The future doesn't look very promising right now for bimbo's like Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, and Tara Reid. (Why does Britney get dozens of police officers and a presidental motorcade to take her to the hospital--twice??) The extremely talented English singer Amy Winehouse is addicted and very self-destructive. I hope she gets on track but I will be surprised if she lives to see her 30th birthday. Being good-looking, being able to dance, sing, or act doesn't guarantee the minimal intelligence required to survive in today's world.

I've never understood the appeal of Amy Winehouse. She's butt-ugly, her music is mediocre and her voice talent is average, at best. Maybe I've just heard the wrong five or six songs and seen both bad videos, interviews and pics.

Or maybe I haven't.

Don't get me started on Trailer Trash Spears.

Agreed. She's very pretty & talented and when she's on top of her game she rawks. I loved her in Mean Girls, of all things. I totally bought her character in that movie, as well as one or two other roles I've seen her in. However, she's obviously not nearly as smart nor sexy as she thinks when she can't keep straight nor takes on a movie like I Know Who Killed Me, which had some potential, but just sucked hard vacuum.

To each his own, Griff, but I consider Amy Winehouse to be one of the most talented singer/songwriters to come down the pike in ages. Her voice talent is average? Please name a female vocalist from any era who you consider to be "above average" - I'm really curious. And what has butt-ugly got to do with it?

Easy - Christina Aquilera, Whitney Houston, Sarah Boreillas (sp), Natalie Cole, Rosemary Clooney and there are others I can picture but who's names escape me at the moment. As I said, nothing I've heard or seen from her impresses me - and I'm usually really easy to impress or please musically - enough to warrant the adoration that seems to have cropped up all of a sudden. I'd heard her music before the Grammy's, but no local stations were playing her that I ever heard - and I tend to listen to the radio while working on models, driving to/from work and even sometimes while at work.

Now almost every local station is playing her stuff. It's amazing that just 'cause she won a Grammy she's now the hottest thing since sliced bread.

I dunno. Perhaps it's because in my previous life I was a music major or perhaps I'm just growing old. But I think she's got an average voice, her music is barely average and I could care less if she ever put out another album.

I think she's butt-ugly. That's what it's got to do with it. ;)

Ummmm, apples to oranges. Find a picture when she was the same age, then you can call her ugly if you like. The way Winehouse is living hard, she will look like that in about 5 - 10 years if she lives that long.

My point is - looks have nothing to do with talent. I worry that Amy won't be around much longer either if she doesn't change her ways - and agree that she has often looked like crap. At other times she hasn't. I much prefer the zaftig look to the "Hank Williams" cadaver look of a year or so ago. Fortunately she's gotten some of that pulchritude back in recent months.

Being good-looking, being able to dance, sing, or act doesn't guarantee the minimal intelligence required to survive in today's world.Conversely, a LACK of both talent and good looks is not necessarily a barrier to show-business success. Can anyone say "Tori Spelling"?

My point is - looks have nothing to do with talent. . .Back in the ’60s, how many people cared that Janis Joplin looked like roadkill? People just wanted to hear her sing. But, for better or for worse, in the music video age, an artist's physical appearance and the way they're presented in videos can be a major factor in their success. It's all part of the total package. Remember Duran Duran?

And as long as the topic has drifted from bad movies to pop singers, what do you think of Joss Stone? (I happen to think she's pretty damn good -- and has great legs besides!)

Zorro

Joss do have some nice legs.

Come to think of it, ol' Whitney has had some lifestyle/personal grooming issues too. If I were being uncharitable, I'd describe the woman on the right as downright butt-ugly. Not that that has a thing to do with her vocal talents.

Wow, dude. You're takin' this comment of mine about Amy Winehouse awful personal, ain't'cha Zorro? ;)

As you said, to each their own.

Oh, and to clarify, the way she sings/performs versus the way she looks are two different things. I never said that any of those other female vocalists were red-hot lookers 'cause we were talking about their talents. Or at least, I thought that's what the main focus was when I you asked about female vocalists....

The legs are nice, I've never seen her before and maybe it's just that particular picture, but everything above the legs looks a little too Carrottop-ish for my taste.

However, if you're looking for a good singer with great legs, you could do a lot worse than Liz Phair:

But my main point was, what do you think of Joss Stone as a SINGER? That's her job, after all.

I've heard her. She's very young but has an amazing instrument. I believe she's been named as the possible lead in a Janis Joplin bio?

I can't believe I have to say this again: Will both Scotts please stay away from Liz Phair? She's mine. I thought I made that clear.

And if you want to talk about great vocalist, remember Mariah Carey before she went all plastic and sang pseudo-hip hop songs in that annoying, whispery tone? She has some great vocals that she's wasted for the past 10 years. Her voice could rival Whitney's and Rosemary's in their primes.

I would say Amy's vocal talents lean more toward the Ronnie Spector/Aretha Franklin end of the spectrum.

I was deeply in love with Mariah for the first year or so of her fame. I was always absolutley flabbergasted by her voice and her beauty.

Never really cared for her material, though.

But that cover she did of "I'll be There" on MTV Unplugged is still on my playlist. I love it when a (relatively) modern artist does a cover of a classic, and does it reeeeallly well. I'm also thinking of things like Suzannah Hoffs' "To Sir With Love" and the Sundaes "Wild Horses," Natalie Merchant's "Peace Train" and "Space Oddity"....

El Gato
02-25-2008, 05:29 PM
That's funny because "I'll be there" is my least favorite of the early Carey tunes. Probably because it's not a song I've cared for.

Winehouse does have a retro feel to her voice, similar to Toni Braxton. I'm not punch drunk in love with her abilities, but she has more similarities with older vocalists, more so than current ones. If only she doesn't self-destruct... like Lindsay Lohan. Another talent stupidly throwing herself away.
