I am a filler at our club . If I had the time and money I would run in g.n. all the time .
running in the top class against the best comp. to prove to myself I can outdrive people like Bret Godfried , Mark Aldrich , Randy Brown and Mike Reniger who wouldn't want to have that title.

Hey Jeff. That thing is supposed to be there tomarrow. Give me a call when you get it. I will need to explain some stuff. Mine is barely even a rolling chassis right now. i have to put it together completely including squaring it, mount a body, paint a body and pretty much everything by saturday so I can get some testing in this weekend before I send it to you monday! I am taking tomarrow off from work to get everything done. I am getting excited though!!!

It looks as if the GN has grown over the last couple seasons, at least @ the NCS events....Is the GN class making a come back @ weekly races? I would say no, GN is down.. Why is that?

GN is coming back out west! first couple of races 5 cars or less, the last
two months at least 10 cars! Phoenix area has had a growth in the GN
class.

You know we have people that want to run GN but I wont let them. I guess if I was a track owner who didnt give a crap, I would but I think its better for everyone to make sure they grow and learn before they jump in.

Wanting to run GN is one thing is a person ready for GN is altogether a different story. Wanting more cars I can understand more cars going faster will do a few things if their not ready:

One that comes to mind is getting discuraged from getting beat so bad each week. Another would be not having the driving or set up skills that is required and wrecking a better skilled persons car. That would lead into maybe them not wanting to race it or creating odomosities at the track which knowone needs.

Everything has cycles. let it happen if it is ment to happen it will, simple:)

i ran GN for the 1st time last week at texas setup is diffrent but its all about driving period in any class if you can wheel a car it dont matter what the class i know everyone needs steping stones but comon sense as well its all about getting the most out of the car you have

All the new guys we picked up here in Phoenix have come over from the 10th scale track
and all are long time R/C racers, so jumping into GN hasn't been a problem.

I would love to run GN class as when I started thats all there was, but that was many years ago and Im getting too old to run that many laps so I think Ill stick to Sprint cars unless there is someone out there footing the bills to race one. DD

Sorry "animosity"

So Freddie does smoke roll out of your computer when you hit the spell checker button? Sorry again, that was kind of a cheap shot.

What you really need is a button labeled "tact" checker or maybe "Retard inhibitor". Man, I crack myself up. I can already hear the PA at the next race I'm at..."67 to the rear", "67 to the rear", "67 to the rear", I said "67 TO THE REAR!"

Well for one thing, it puts the voting topic back at the top of the forum.

Thread drift seems to be a some what common occurence but you are certainly correct in that we need to get back to the important subject of voting to run GN's at your local track.

If we had a GN class I would most certainly run it... oh wait a minute... We do have the class and I love running in it...

GN is definitley a fun class and of course we would like to see it grow even more, but here on the west coast we did just get a surge in participation and its great! It's hard sometimes to wish for more racers, cuz a lot of the times you'll get the guys in the class that really don't belong. Luckily the group from AZ know how to race clean and fast and we will have some real tight side by side action now... :woohoo: Heading out to their home track this weekend to do some night racing... Just like Bristol in August!!!!

I'd like to let the 1/4 scale racing community know that we had a night race in Phoenix last weekend and I was lucky enough to witness the best GN race I've ever seen (I've only been a member for 5 years).

There was a full field on a bullring that took 26 minutes to complete 150 laps. There was only one red flag pit stop (I think it was for those guys to catch their breath!).

It was 3 wide coming out of turn 4, leaders (Ferguson, Andrews and Turner) working traffic and cars a lap down not giving an inch. The car control with all the drivers was awesome!

There weren't any spectators left at 1:30 a.m. when the race ended. But those of us that were there witnessed an outstanding race!

GN is alive and well out West!

:thumbsup:man thats great its nice when you can have a race like that i have not had that pleasure lately but you put everyone in the mix as far as experience and that is usually the the way it goes as far as any class cant wait for my next caution free race !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Denny Andrews
07-15-2008, 12:19 PM
Well I do have to say that was one of the most fun races I have raced in a long time... John Ferguson and Jim Turner and I were flying thru the traffic inside and outside, unfortunately Turner got caught up in one of the wrecks or it would have been the 3 of us fighting at the end... But there definitely were a few yellows, not likely to have a caution-free race with 11 fast gn's on such a small track... But I will say there could have been more! A lot of good racing by everyone out there... Oh and I have to say thanks to Ferguson for "Going High" and "Letting" me by for the win... Can't wait for Vegas in August, hopefully have the same group of guys again!!!! :woohoo:

It was an awesome race!!! The guys from Phoenix are an excellent group of racers. I hope the Vegas track is ready. I had a flashback of another orange car (TE#1) driving up my a-- and I guess it spooked me and had to get out of the way LOL. It's always great when one of my cars wins. :thumbsup:Denny!!
