Hey ya'll, I'm new here, and I appologize if this has been discussed before. I've tried searching on this topic and didn't really come up with anything.
Are there any dirt ovals in or around Arlington or Alexandria Virginia? I am semi-new to the area, and am looking to get back into racing. I have a custom works sprint car.
If there aren't any dirt ovals...what about carpet or asphalt anywhere in the area? If I have to break down and buy a pan car I will, but it's been a long time since I've raced one, and I will definately need to remember how to set one up.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry to tell you but there are no RC Ovals in the area. We run up in the Harrisburg PA area. There are 4-5 tracks up there we race during the summer. Best info is www.dirtoval.com. For me its about 1 to 2 hr drive. Do you run electric or nitro?

I'm an electric guy. Where in Harrisburg do you guys race, I know Kranzels was up that way but they shut down their dirt track correct? Harrisburg isn't too terrible of a drive for me to make on a saturday or sunday, once a month to race.

Bumps & Jumps in the winter and Staub Bros RC Speedway near Gettysburg in the summer months. Thats about it for electric up that way. Mostly they are heavy into nitro.

What classes do they race there? Is it mainly pan cars? Just curious if I should be thinking about getting a new car.

Staubs in Gettysburg runs an electric open wheel class, edm's, sprints, buggies combined.
Bumps runs all electric classes, mostly stock sprints and stock edms. on occasion there are enough to run the mod classes as well.

I was checking out Staubs website...do they have any electrical hook ups there? It looked to me like they don't.
That has always been a problem for me...no generator.

They have plenty of power. A generator is not necessary.

Nposura...
We don't have much of anything in VA anymore in the lines of oval period. I use to live in PA and ran alot of loose dirt. About eight years ago I moved to VA and had to switch over to carpet pan car. We had a great carpet oval down here in near Orange VA but it closed up this winter. We don't have many options now. There is a dirt oval in Danville VA but it would be closer for you to go to PA and have more to chose from.
You have a very small but fun carpet oval in Glen Burnie Maryland. You would need a pan car for there.
There is also a newer offroad track down here in Fredericksburg. I have not personally been there but did contact the owner and found out they are mainly running 1/8th scale buggies and truggies.
Since my home carpet track has closed I have just gotten back into dirt a bit more myself. It would take some traveling but I would suggest running the PA Nitro Tour. Thats what I plan to do for the Summer. It is a series that visits various tracks in PA and has a great turn out.

Opps... Forgot to tell you one more thing that might help. Hobby Talk is an awesome site but it seems to me that a lot of the guys that race at the PA dirt tracks are over on Dirtoval.com
