So, anyone else see the new Knight Rider movie?
I have to say it was a very "busy" movie, just one thing happening after another. It was quite a change of pace when "the bad guys" were dealt with and then setting up for a potential new series.
A few criticisms: rather a lot of what seemed to be stereotypical characters... I'm not yet totally sold on the new driver for KITT - while he is Michael Knight's son, he really does seem to be "immature and selfish" (as described by one of the other characters) but also I wonder if the producers were also attempting to target a "core" youth audience, with him being "20-something/moody/edgy" and what is wrong with his razor and the unkempt rough-shaven look?? :freak: I liked the Micheal Knight character because he was a decent, good man who, because of circumstance, was ideally placed to conduct the rather covert operations that he took on with his new identity. Some of the other characters also seemed to be somewhat one-dimensional as well.
The new KITT: Well. I have to admit that I wasn't sure what to expect aside from some publicity shots and a lot of negative comments about why KITT (or other S/F type vehicles) should never ever be Fords. I'm not entirely certain about the new KITT... but I have to say that he (and let's make no mistake- KITT is decidedly male) is everything that a new KITT for this decade ought to be!! I had no idea who voiced KITT, it was something of a surprise to me when I found out that it was Val Kilmer. Not because I don't think that Mr. Kilmer wasn't capable of doing it, I just couldn't tell who's voice it was! The processing for the voice was very good as well, giving it a rather atonal quality that suits the new AI's personality. I think I could accept this new KITT without ever losing the original KITT's place in my fond memories of this show!
Any idea if the "red monstrosity" that was in Knight Rider 2000 still fits in the scheme of things? This was never that much of a favourite of mine and I think that my biggest problem of that vehicle was that it was red instead of black. I have 2 of those models in my stash; maybe I should do one in black, the way I think it ought to be.... ;)
