get a portable battery charger. one that plugs into the wall. a 75 amp power supply is pretty pricey.

75 amp power supply and cheap are going to be two things that probably aren't going to go together very well. :) I think most of the dynos recommend a deep cycle marine battery for use anyway. Hook up a cheap charger to it to keep it up and you're ready.

From the Fantom web site:
The dyno unit requires a minimum of a 75 amp power supply, or real car battery.
"If you choose to use a car battery, we suggest also using a 1 amp trickle charger to maintain a completely charged battery, for the most consistent readings."
So if you use a Battery, it must be full charged and on trickle charge or your readings will vary.....So unless your battery is the same voltage every day, your reading will be different!!!!!!! So for the best results a 75 amps or larger Power supply is best! If I was buying new I would buy this: http://www.rivergatedist.com/bulldog_90.htm

Have a look at ebay. Sometimes you can find a good deal on a high amp power supply. Sorry I can't help on the battery. Just going on what I had heard.

Power supplies tend to not give as accurate numbers as a battery would. The initial lag in ramping up the power may alter your results. I have used in the past a deep cycle/starting battery with a 1 amp trickle charge. I run BL now so I don't miss the extra motor work with brushed.
