So I have finally gotten to a point where I am now wanting to redo some of the cars that have either been repainted by someone else, are WAY common and I want to try something different or some other odd reason...
My biggest problem right now is that in the stripping process I have used PineSol. Well, the pinesol seems to do the trick when taking off other people's paint but when you're trying to remove the 30 some odd year old paint that was originally put on there by AFX I'm not doin' so hot. What do people do concerning removing paint and then after the paint is removed what primer do people use?
Cheers,
Xence
p.s. I know that Dragula has all sorts of good info so I await a cool response from ya chris (or is it christian?).

Well you might want to try Easy Off oven cleaner. Just remember to use caution and in a well ventilated area (OUTSIDE works) and take all those safety precautions as well. On some of my earlier customizations of TJets where the only paint I needed to remove was stripes or accents of some sort, I used testor's Airbrush thinner. I would take a qtip, slightly wet with thinner and gently rub until it lifted. Takes patience and time. If I needed a total strip, I would dip the body fo 20-30 minutes and hit the body with QTips, toothbrush and toothpicks. Would take some elbow grease but the stipes or whatever came off.
As far as the primer, Krylon grey primer or flat white right out of the can. At least at room temp, usually I would warm up the can (primer or paint) in warm to hot water for a few minutes befored I'd shoot. Made for a better paint job.

So far a good soak in pine sol has softened them up enough to sand off or scrub off easily,if not,i break out the 1000 grit.

Want paint off pinesol is ok as is easy off but require time and care babysitting.. Get pollys easy lift off, it has yet to fail me yet a bit pricey I keep it in a old coffee can ( go figure that one lol) and it will strip 5-6 cars before it even starts to slow down.. time less then ten minutes and that includes the quick scrub with a soft brisstle toothbrush to loosen and remove those last few stubbron spots....

Coach, Where do you find polly's easy off? Is that the brand name? Is it a household cleaner? Thanks, RM
