View Full Version : Can You Believe It
superjet701 02-17-2008, 09:01 PM Congrats to Ryan Newman winner of the 50th running of the Daytona 500.
I can't believe that Tony ( I can win everything else ) Stewart was leading the last lap, looked to have her all locked down, and those Dodge's came to life. I guess that Dodge proved everyone wrong that said they are in trouble at the 500, Toyota is going to have a hayday, I think there were 7 Dodge's in the top 10.
Anyway, Congrats to Tony as well, hell, he came so close.
Peter
TeamGoodwrench 02-17-2008, 09:11 PM Of course it will be somebody else's fault he didn't win .. LOL.
SHADOW 02-17-2008, 09:12 PM 6 dodges, 2 toyotas, 1 chevrolet, 1 ford
TeamGoodwrench 02-17-2008, 09:28 PM Geez... man that's sad.. only 1 Chevy ??
Man... Chevy used to OWN Daytona. :(
superjet701 02-17-2008, 09:32 PM Yes 6 Dodges, and the Chevy were doing great, just got caught up in some bad deals. Jr. was looking racey all day.
Mr.Wolfman 02-17-2008, 10:00 PM It was a good day anyway with Gordon and Johnson out of the way.

amen to that, the one who stood out all day was KB, although not a big fan of him got to hand it to him the kid can race his ass off, loose tight car doesnt matter and it was cool to watch him pass his old teamates and say bye bye. One thing I noticed all day was there wasn't alot of team work except at the end with Kurt pushin Newman to the win. Tony f'd up by getting out of the top line, cause kurt gave newman a huge push, KB was too far back to push tony infront backing up wont help. all in all a decent race.
I just enjoyed the racing at the end. They did'nt wreck'em all with 3 to go.
Benracin' 02-17-2008, 10:18 PM I enjoyed the race to, what happened to the " chosen one, Jr.", all week long all you heard was how he was going to dominate the race, I believe Kyle Busch did that....
Weapon 1 02-17-2008, 10:38 PM Congrats to Ryan Newman winner of the 50th running of the Daytona 500.

I think Casey Mears Ruined A darn good Finish, if only he would check is rearview...Caution's Suck..
Echeconnee 02-17-2008, 11:12 PM Why is Montoya still in a race car? Anyone, anyone, Bueller?
ScottH 02-17-2008, 11:13 PM $$$$
And what would NASCAR.com do without the "Where's Juan" articles?
thirdplace 02-18-2008, 12:29 AM Why is Montoya still in a race car? Anyone, anyone, Bueller?
LMAO.
Rusty22 02-18-2008, 02:26 AM did you understand what he said when they did the little driver introduction? i thought i heard "i am from africa" :freak: lol.
Anytime72 02-18-2008, 07:02 AM I will agree that Kyle B. can race a loose car better than anyone out there. He will be hot this year and winning the series is very possible.
It was a good day anyway with Gordon and Johnson out of the way.
Just that was worth watching the whole race. I can not think of anything better in a NASCAR race when those 2 have problems
Mike Clark 02-18-2008, 10:04 AM Yes KB can drive but the boy needs to spend some real time playing poker, he should have held out a little longer, Tony was comming. KB winning a championship, Can KB hold up that long? Will Tony put up with him that long?
I can see the rumor was true, Gibbs racing told the OTA folks put up or shut up or a one year deal and they are gone. Their engines did output some serious HP with out problems. Michael on the pole, it must have been lucky with his setup!
It was good to see Ryan win one with Kurt intow also all the new faces & names up front at the end. Last season Kurt had a real good car from Indy on to the end of the season last year but had NO help!
Hey, Junior won twice the week and the new 88 was competitive all week. He is only going to get faster in that car, I would worry about the chosen one, seriously!
Echeconnee 02-18-2008, 10:11 AM I think the english translation was Bogata Columbia.did you understand what he said when they did the little driver introduction? i thought i heard "i am from africa" :freak: lol.
Do ya think Tony would have won if he hadn't put on all that extra weight???? Anyone heard what "fat joke" set him off in the NASCAR trailer ?

Haven't heard that yet but I like to make jokes about him doing either Ron Jeremy or Elvis impersonations..HAHA!
superjet701 02-18-2008, 05:19 PM I think Casey Mears Ruined A darn good Finish, if only he would check is rearview...Caution's Suck..
Weapon, I would have to agree with you on that, I think Tony & Jr. were drafting together at the time, and they would have gone right to the front and been gone.
superjet701 02-18-2008, 05:31 PM As for Kyle, I can't think of a better place for that boy that DRIVER REHAB!
I will never dispute that the boy can drive a race car, but can he once drive one SANELY!!! If he could learn patience and teamwork he might be a lot further in his SHORT career. I don't think Tony will put up with him long, he dose not have the teammate patient skills of a Jeff or Jimmie. And by God I hope he will never get them. I wish Toyota a great year with Gibbs, I wish KB with, I don't know, Petty Ent.???
Be gone with you.
Peter
Mr Microphone 02-18-2008, 07:05 PM did you understand what he said when they did the little driver introduction? i thought i heard "i am from africa" :freak: lol.
I thought he said, "Hello, my name is Juan Pablo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die........"

mightymidget 02-18-2008, 10:31 PM the truck race was great, the 500 was a sleeper until the last 30 laps,Kyle Busch drives a lot like Dale SR use to, all over the track take no prisoners,it was kind of funny when JR knocked Kurt Busch down below the yellow line.i still think the Busch brothers are Pee Wee Herman impersonators.they look just like him
willyplankhead 02-18-2008, 10:36 PM WORD

tony, jeff and jr are still the best plate racers you had to have a teammate and or brother to win it guess what thats what happened!!!!!!
jflack 02-19-2008, 12:38 AM i think denny had the strongest car but showed his hand to soon once he showed what he had that was it once he got shuffled he did not come back
It happened to more than a few cars, the 11, 48 and 55 to name a few! It looked like they got tight off and couldn't stay down. Then was tearing up RFs......better to ride than wreck!
What caused most wrecks were cars stalling out when out of the draft. It looked like the cars slowed 10 MPH....Thats what happen to the 11, when JP ran over him. What are the drag numbers on a brick!
mightymidget 02-19-2008, 01:32 PM since no one else mention it how about Robby Gordon, top ten finish and didn't cause the first caution or wasn't in a wreck.
Dan i was glad that Kurt Finished a head of JR.instead of the sprint cup, they should have just called the Dale JR show.that's all that,Waltrip,Joy,Mcreynolds talk about.the 500 was a bore until the last 40 laps
