Matchbox is really coming up with some great castings and cool Ideas. I'm looking at what I've seen online for the 08 line and I'm impressed. 07 ended with the hearse and the alpha and now we see the Chevy truck, The VW Bay window Bus and the Thing. The cool 55th releases at the end of the year were a nice touch too. I must say hats off to MB for coming up with some very desirable peaces. Any thoughts?

Matchbox is getting back to what they were known for, realistic cars. I am very pleased as what I've seen over the last year.

I agree, Matchbox has taken a huge leap and is doing what they have done best in the past. Realistic vehicles and they are very accessable to the collector world. These guys are truly car nuts and they are collectors as well. Hats off to the team. Come meet this talented team at the 6th Annual International MCCH Gathering of Friends Convention in July. Email me for details. This is one event not to miss and includes ALL types of diecast.

See you there,

I would have to agree, Matchbox has really stepped it up. They're doing some very desirable models (to me anyway) that look fantastic for just $1. I would probably pay $2 at retail for most of the base MB cars I've picked up in past several months.

It's really hard to argue paying $1 for all of the great releases that MB has come out with in the last couple of years. MB is now taking the majority of my diecast dollars. for the detail and good distribution, they can't be beat.

I also have to agree that what MB is doing is a great improvement in the right direction.
I'm buying more MB than HW these days.

I'm definitely buying more MB than anything else. Maybe not spending more more money on MB than other brands, but that happens when they're only 1/4 the cost of almost anything else.

Although it can be difficult to find alot of the newer stuff, I am happy that they fly off the pegs so fast.

Yeah MB has always made the real stuff from heavy equipment to pick-up trucks. I am a former kid of the 70's so I love the old superfast cars. It seems that Mattel is trying to get MB back to what they were in their heyday. I have kept my eyes open for MB to make a return to their place in die-cast. It is funny that Mattel owns them now and is responsible for making them cool again. Hot Wheels went through their own bit of direction-less (late 80's early 90's) era where they cranked out stuff that used to make me scratch my head. Hot Wheels and Matchbox for a lot of us adult collectors is one of our first childhood memories from xmas and birthdays. I think Mattel was brilliant with the collectibles in the black box and the limited edition series. I can only hope that maybe they will do the same for MB. It would be cool to have one of those blackbox combo sets with a vw thing and a boat w/trailer or a classic mercedes truck with trailer. Maybe bring back the two pack done with the quality of the way they did them in the mid to late 70's with the I-75 series. Welcome back Matchbox.

I agree. Without many JL's to choose from in my area, my eyes have been glancing over the assortment of other brands. MB seems to be the one catching my eye more and more these days. And while I hesitate to start collecting too many other brands, there's just too many nice pieces to resit picking them up that's coming off the MB line. I'm going to be keeping my eyes peeled for several castings i've seen here,
