Okay you experts. Let me hear your suggestions on getting those nice looking RRR wheels installed on those TJet axles the right or best way. The last few sets I've installed aren't quite right. Even using the wheel press tool. have been using some double layer of tape to protect the finish of the wheels from the press. Thanks! rr

I put a drop of oil in the holes then I put it face down on a hard flat surface then hammer it in with a small plier or press on with finger till it's blue and painfull

I take a small phillipshead screwdriver, one that's just the tiny bit bigger than the hub's hole and bore it out a touch. Radio Shack has screwdriver kits that cost about 2 bucks and it has 6 mini screwdrivers. The second smallest one in the set works perfectly.

I've always gone with T-Jet Racer's painful strategy but I have a shop rag between the wheel and the flat hard surface and over my fingers.
Have any of you tried the new RRR RWL tires? Assuming I can get the wheels on properly, I'm wondering if the RWL tires are significantly better (grip and overall quality) than the standard tires that come with the RRR wheels. Adding the RWL tires doubles the price, if I'm reading things properly, and you wind up with a spare set of tires.

Thanks for the tips all. As far as the RWL tires, no. I've stuck with the ones that came on the wheels. For the most part, cars that I added the RRR wheels to were for cruising opposed to flat out racin'.:thumbsup: rr

The RWL tires are the same compound as the non-lettered tires which are very sticky already. I never did anything to the wheels afraid I would compromise the integrity of the wheel. Instead I hit the splines on the axle with a small rat file a couple of times, and it worked great. I have a set of Cobra's coming with RWL tires for my Super TJ project to be announced very shortly.

The RWL tires are a lower durometer, and they are stickier. We actually did comparison runs on a 100' lock and joiner track and the RWL dropped the times, not a huge gain, but a gain nonetheless.

Dito to what Drag stated at GreenRun. Howver like the regular tires you really have to work them to get them true.

Had to do that to the regular RRR tires to minimize some of the bouncing just to cruise! :) rr
