Very interested to see if this movie lives up to the rest of the series.

Unfortunately, I'm not looking forward to this film.
I saw a magazine cover that showed Indy and some
20-something kid. It looks like a "buddy" picture.
Indy and some kid running around Skull Island, (Or
whatever the Hell it is.)
What are they trying to do, pass the torch?
Will this kid be in the future movies instead of Indy?

I'm excited about it. Call me a fan if you like... but Indy 4 is about the only film I'm excited about this year.

As for the 'buddy film' comment... I can argue that The Last Crusade was a buddy film... with Connery. But that's what made it great.

I dunno. I can't wait to see it.

Call me a sucker, but with Indy and Trek Paramount has lined up a couple of footballs I can't help but take a running punt at. Most likely I'll land up flat on my back, but hope springs eternal.

What encourages me is that Spielberg has stated that they won't be relying on CG, and they're striving to maintain the same cinematographic look of the first three films... and John Williams is currently scoring this film as we type. I'm not anti-CG or anti-modern cinematography, but these contemporary techniques would make the new film look....well...NEW. And that would probably cause a stylistic 'clash'.

Like many... I want the same visual 'tone' with a similar score. I want the old magic back. Sounds ( and looks ) like we're going to get it.

I mean, Indiana Jones meets aliens... what's not to like?

I think it may have promise. It's set in the late fifties, so he gets to play his age. And, maybe poke fun at himself and getting old. Maybe it will be fun.

Apparently it's already being watered down for us poor, sensitive Americans

Now that's just wrong! :p

Frankly, I didn't notice anything wonky in that shot and probably wouldn't have. But now that I'm looking for it, it's pretty obvious that it's "off." Especially the soldier in the background. He appears to be floating in front of the new background they cloned in to obscure the "evil" guns. I wonder at what point in the process they were told it would require editing and I really want to know the turnaround time on retouching that sequence. Looks like a rush job.

Spielberg to vendor,"OK guys, the US trailer that you just finished looks great. We love it, really love it. But, ahh, we need to make a couple minor tweaks. Unfortunately, we need to keep our delivery schedule which means it's still due out in about 90 minutes! So, can we get your fastest retouchers and a couple cases of Jolt Cola?"

I'm glad they made one more Indie Film. Mr. Ford is older, but still seems to be "Swashbuckling" in this film. Honestly, I hope they don't make any more sequels after this one. All good things must come to an end. If they don't end while they are good, they will eventually end bad.

I agree. The idea of the timeline of the films following a natural progression of Indy's age, and to homage the films of that period just sounds good to me. It reminds me of the intent of Raiders.
I'm hoping that they don't over-greeble things, but instead try to maintain the sleek aerodynamics of the alien designs of the 50s as well.

The "kid" is Shea Lebeouf (sp?) who played Sam in the recent Transformers movie. He's playing the child of Indy & Marion, who also appears in the movie.

As for the gun editing, perhaps it's just for the trailer. Trailers are , if you will, forced upon an audience. Perhaps they felt that only the trailer needed to be altered.

I didn't watch the "Transformers".

Shouldn't this:

be considered a spoiler?

Apologies if I spoiled something for some, ( :o ) but it's been a released fact for some time now & not a major plot point from what I understand.

I don't get the sarcasim. How is naming the cast a spoiler? Ive gotten to where I dont even like to discuss movies here because someone may not have seen something that is in current release. Its really silly. Somebody needs to get real about what a spoiler is. (Capt) Frankly, I think some people post just to create animosity. Ive always enjoyed posting and lurking in the HobbyTalk forums. 10 years now. This is a good place. Lets discuss movies.

The fact that the kid is Indy & Marion's son.
That is what I was referring to.

I don't spend 24 hours a day scanning the entertainment
news for every little fact about any movie or tv show.

I don't have to know everything about a movie before
I go see it. I don't want to know. If you know everything
about a movie, why go see it?

I am not posting just to create animosity, or to stir up the pot.

What sled?

"I warn you Jedediah, you're not going to like it in Chicago. The wind comes howling in off the lake and gosh only knows if they ever heard of Lobster Newburg."

I knew the "son" thing was strong rumor, but hadn't heard it as definite fact. Source for that??

Yes, I have to agree that this would be considered a spoiler. But, not a huge one. I mean come on. 20-something kid. Marion back in the film. Indy and Marion hook up 20-something years ago. Not too difficult to figure out. Last I heard was that the production was denying this rumor.
