I'll always take advantage of some racing at the big 'ol concrete track. Thanks guys for keeping racing alive at this track.

SWTOUR, I know if we wanted to race this weekend we would need to get the snow shovels out and tire heaters.

Joe, Greg Junes {PDX} step down as race promoter/ director because of alot going on with his family and such so he really was not going to have the time this year, So Gerry a good freind of Greg's took it over.. program should stay about the same as always. The PDX site is still up and running but will be changed..

i say....RIGHT ON GERRY. I am not real big on the velo as i like to fish during the summer but I do applude him for taking over and not letting it die.Is the parks dept. hard 2 work with? it seems they only want you guys there 1 time a month.

I'm sorry to hear Greg had to step down - but he's been at it for a long time...and I understand the personal things...

I'm glad to hear it will continue...only having a few VELODROMES in the U.S. there is NO racing quite the same.

I got an email from someone looking at trying to get racing on a VELO someplace in TEXAS ... that could be interesting too...

How about some "gearbox truck" ? I may have to talk Brian into letting me try out his 3.5 in my truck out there (I'm guessing I can hit about 55 before I hit a wall and my truck disintigrates.)

Later,

As long as you get 3 guys to run any class we will race them. The main thing it is going to take to keep the Velodrome running is people. As long as you support the Velo we will keep on racing!!! First Race is April 27. Gates open at 1 P.M. and racing begins at 3 P.M. We will run 3 heats and a main. Cost is $20 for the first entry and $15 for each additional entry.
Get your car ready and head out ot the Velo on April 27.

Hey Guys,
Glad to see you're still at it. I live up in South Bend and have been wanting to try this for a while. Recently I bought a Hyperdrive F1 car thinking just of this. I'll see if I can drag some friends along for the April race. Do the doors open at 1 or does racing start at 1?

Thanks,
Frank Connolly

From reading the threads abouty touring ovals at the birds, the issue with most cars is gear ratio. Some cars have an advantage with gear ratio running on big tracks and the velo is one example. Now if we had a lipo TC class with brushless motors I'd say that it could be a possibility. I'd even say throw on a COT body with an touring car rear wing and I bet the car would be a blast to drive.

Unless we are willing to set a final drive ratio for touring cars at the velo, we probably should have it an open mod class. Unfortunately some of the newer cars will be able to have a better final drive ratio than the old shaft drive cars can without major modifications if we limit the motors to 6-cell 10.5 or slower. I also agree on titanium drive shafts for the velo and receiver packs or capacitors.

I would be willing to drive my TC out there again as I've gotten some better ideas on how to make it work, but for someone new at that track a belt drive car will probably be a better place to start than a shaft drive. Even an old HPI RS4 PRO 1/2/3 would be a better option in some ways at the velo than a TC3/4. Not sure how easy it would be to mount a Lipo in one of those old cars, but I've tested with an HPI RS4 Sport 2 and it worked just fine out there with 6-cells. I bet a lipo would be easy to mount up.

Thanks Guys,
As we get closer I probably will be asking for some setup help as I've never done this before. I want to see who else I can bring so we know what else we need setup info for.

What front spings should you use on a pan car? 6 cell stock or 13.5

Roy, I used a number 10 {red} on the RF and a 8 {white} on the LF in indy car, the nascar boys are a little faster than my indy so maybe two #12{green} to start, the red may coil bind with the extra speed in nascar on the RF. All are standard nonprogressive Windtunnel springs. if the Green is to much you can go down a little and try a Silva {copper} 11.5, best thing is not to go to soft as the springs will coil bind under load in the corners... I'll hook up with you some time have a few tricks for the front end..
