The 2008 ROCKIT Chassis are now in production. The ROCKIT will accept all Lightning suspension parts. The dry weight of a Lightning chassis is about 6.6 lbs. The dry weight of the ROCKIT is 5.5 . I toned down some areas of the current Lightning design and beefed up some of the week points and it turned out a whole pound lighter. I am hoping that Lightning adopts at least some of this design. The steering rack mount takes a lot of the flex (a common problem with Lightnings) . If I can figure out how to shrink the pics I will post them. If interested e-mail me and I can send some.

I saw this chassis a week ago and in my opionion it was very nice and very well built. I like the servo mount that tied in the top and bottom rails together. That will make for a much stronger front end, I think. I also liked the shock mounts. One other thing that I noticed was how well this car was welded, I mean all welds looked ahh........kinda professional. That is something I have not seen alot of on other chassis(no offense to anyone else) I can't wait to get my hands on one of these cars in the near future.:woohoo:

Chance also makes really nice aluminum side channels/pods/bumpers for all cars, that have built in battery trays. These things are a work of art. I have not seen anything that is made yet that will compete with his side pods yet. I am going to get another set from him once he gets caught up on all his chassis he is building. Maybe he can get some pics of them up one day soon too, in all his spare time.

28 pounds even? Wow, That is pretty light. I read on here somewhere about frame weight. I checked mine (Pro1) last Sat. and it was 6.1 pounds w/powder coat. My car was 29.3 race ready with about a half a tank of fuel in it.

Thanks Brian. Are you guys still planning on making it up here in April? There should be about 7 or 8 people running the chassis! I am just excited for Easley.

Scott, yes the chassis weighs about 5.5 pounds. I use all .035 tubing. My car with no lead weighs a tick under 29.

Thanks Chance for the Chassis. It was a great running car at Easley. I had a blast with it in the GN class. You are one he!! of a welder and that means alot on these chassis. That is were you lose alot of your weight over the Lightning. Thanks again and see you in ohio.

Thank you for the kind words Will and Jeff. I had a blast in Easley even though I broke. The car worked great all weekend. I hardly made any adjustments to it from the first time I set it on the track. I look forward to getting more ROCKITs on the east coast. I met a lot of great people and enjoyed the company of genuinely "nice" people. You all made the trip worth it! If all goes well, Jason and I will make the trip to Freddie's.

Chance,

It was great talking to you and meeting you in person. I had such a great time there too. I'm having a hard time thinking of a reason not to get a Rockit chassis the next time I get a new Car/Truck. You do a great job on the finer points of chassis building, and you seem to be a real good ambasador of the sport as well. I look forward to seeing you at another NCS or local event.

Thank you Jim. I suppose it has a lot to do with the fact that I weld thin chromeolly for a living! I do take a lot of pride in not only the performance of the chassis, but the appearance as well. I have a vast background in latemodel's and other short track racing that helps quite a bit. I love this sport. It is what I LOVE to do. Racing is my life! Maybe thats why Im single!

LOL. Thats funny! Im sure I will come up with a nickname for it. Believe it or not we nicknamed the design of the ROCKIT that we have been using "Lisa". Dont ask me why! Jason has a habit of naming different designs of things womens names!

Hey just wanted to join in on the fun of "How big can we make Chance's head?" lol... Well pops and I both have a Rockit chassis now, I personally haven't had the time to switch it yet so I'll still be running the Lightning up in Washington this weekend... But pops put his all together and made the Vegas "club" race last weekend and was very impressed. Besides a few radio problems it was every bit as fast as his Lightning and felt real stable... So down here in the Southwest we got :thumbsup:2-thumbs up:thumbsup: for the Rockit!!! And yes Mr. Chance, very nice welding and those side pods are awesome!!!:woohoo:
